The article addresses the study of the relationship between the dynamics of product prices and the financial stability of the focal enterprises within a supply chain. Accelerating the changes of the external environment leads to an increasing need of new management instruments to save and develop an enterprise. Ensuring financial sustainability is an important task for each enterprise, particularly in the context of the parameters’ variability of the multidimensional environment. Financial sustainability directly depends on the profit and profitability of an enterprise, which gives grounds for finding the relationship between the financial sustainability indicators of an enterprise and inputs and outputs prices, as factors affecting profit. This study focuses on supply chains for the production and sale of sunflower oil. This type of economic activity is constantly in the spotlight of domestic scientists, as Ukraine's share in world production of sunflower oil is about 34%, and in world exports - more than 55%. An enlarged approach to the structure of the supply chain is used in this study. The following links in the domestic market of Ukraine were identified: producer of agricultural products (sunflower seeds), sunflower oil manufacturer, and final consumer. The analysis carried out in the study demonstrates that some parameters of the enterprise’s financial sustainability show the different types of response to the prices’ change that have been witnessed within the supply chain. That is a reason of the desirability of the further researches on the influence of prices’ dynamics on financial sustainability of focal enterprises in a supply chain. Besides, the further study of this theme will contribute to improving the methodology of complex measurement of the enterprise’s financial sustainability.

Purpose This paper aims to develop a conceptual taxonomy for building requisite knowledge capabilities for different supply chain network (SCN) types. Specifically, it examines knowledge capabilities required for three types of SCNs: efficient, collaborative and agile SCNs. Design/methodology/approach This paper integrates two bodies of thought (i.e. knowledge management and organisational learning) and applies them to SCNs. An abductive research process is used to develop this conceptual taxonomy. Findings The conceptual taxonomy details three archetypical knowledge capabilities – exploitation, exploration and ambidextrous. Those knowledge capabilities are required for efficient, collaborative and agile SCNs, respectively. Research limitations/implications This paper is conceptual and theory-based. The next stages of the research seek to further strengthen the explanatory value of the taxonomy through empirical validation. Practical implications The taxonomy developed in this paper provides a valuable and pragmatic tool for managerial decision-making in the context of SCNs. Specifically, it provides a roadmap for practitioners since the study develops an understanding of the relationship between knowledge capabilities and types of SCNs. Originality/value This is one of the earliest studies that attempt to unearth requisite knowledge capabilities for different types of SCNs.

Our aim was to quantitatively assess the relationship of smile esthetics variables with various types of anterior overjet (OJ) malocclusion, and identify the cephalometric factors affecting smile measurements in different types of anterior overjet malocclusion. 90 patients undergoing orthodontic treatment in the Department of Orthodontics were selected for this retrospective study based upon the inclusion criteria. The patients were divided into the following groups according to their OJ: Group 1 (0-4mm), Group 2 (>4mm), Group 3 (<0mm).The upper lip height, and inter-labial gap differed significantly among the groups, whereas arc ratio, tooth number, upper midline, buccal corridor, smile index, arch form index and lower tooth exposure did not significantly among the groups. Some smile variables (upper lip height, inter-labial gap) differed significantly among different types of anterior overjet malocclusion. This study confirmed that the smile pattern varies between different types of malocclusion.

The purpose of this study is to test the relationship between the premise factors and business results of organizations involved in the fishery supply chain in Ba Ria - Vung Tau province. The research results show that the risk factors in the supply chain affect supply chain linkages, including risk from the supply, market risks, and information risks. More specifically, risks from the supply are negatively related to supplier links. This is consistent with the views of (Frohlich, 2002; Zsidisin, 2003; Zhao et al., 2013) but this also contrasts with the theory of the relationship between environment and organization. If some supply is problematic, people would be ready to look for new suppliers. This may also be the focus of trust and commitment in business relations between organizations in Vietnam. The results of this study indicate that the risk from supply does not usually have any impact on customers. This is in contrast with the research results of (Frohlich, 2002; Zsidisin, 2003; Zhao et al., 2013). Finally, the risks from the environment surprisingly show no impact on supply chain linkages. This result is completely contrary to the research results obtained by (Khan and Burnes, 2007).

While many individuals make investments to gain financial stability, most individual investors hold under-diversified portfolios that consist of only a few financial assets. Lack of diversification is alarming especially for average individuals because it may result in massive drawdowns in their portfolio returns. In this study, we analyze if it is theoretically feasible to construct fully risk-diversified portfolios even for the small accounts of not-so-rich individuals. In this regard, we formulate an investment size constrained mean-variance portfolio selection problem and investigate the relationship between the investment amount and diversification effect.

Organizations can tap the wisdom of the crowd through digital platforms of crowdsourcing for ideation. However, we have limited understanding of factors affecting the innovativeness of ideas and solutions submitted by individual participants. Drawing upon self-determination theory and regulatory focus theory, we investigate how participants' regulatory focus and extrinsic motivation aroused by incentivizing mechanisms affect their creativity in crowdsourcing communities. Based on the data collected from 164 participants in a crowdsourcing platform, we find that promotion focus positively influences participants' creativity, and different types of extrinsic motivation have differential effects. Although external, identified, and integrated motivation positively affect participants' creativity, introjected motivation is not significantly related to participants' creativity. In addition, external and identified motivation strengthen the relationship between promotion focus and creativity. The theoretical contributions and managerial implications of this study are discussed.

Purpose The purpose of this paper is to test the link between servitisation and circular economy by synthesising the effect of product-service systems (PSS) on supply chain circularity (SCC). Design/methodology/approach Following a systematic literature review methodology, the study identified 67 studies and synthesised them using content analysis. Findings A conceptual model is developed illustrating how PSS business models impact SCC through increased product longevity, closure of resource loops and resource efficiency. It also identifies six contextual factors affecting the implementation of SCC including: economic attractiveness of SCC; firm sustainability strategy; policy and societal environment; product category; supply chain relationships; and technology. Research limitations/implications The conceptual model proposes that SCC increases with servitisation. It also proposes that the main circularity effect stems from increased product longevity, followed by closed resource loops and finally resource efficiency. The model is deduced from the literature by using secondary data. Practical implications The review provides practitioners with a framework to increase SCC through PSS business models. It also gives insight into the various contextual factors that may affect how a manufacturer’s servitisation strategy contributes to SCC. Originality/value This review contributes to the understanding of the relationship between servitisation and SCC by synthesising the different effects that exist. Moreover, it creates new knowledge by identifying a range of contextual factors affecting the relationship between PSS and SCC.

Vehicles that are non-roadworthy pose a hazard for all road users and can be one of the main causes of traffic accidents. Previous studies have analysed the impact of the driving style on environmental sustainability and road safety. Starting from this, there was a need to further investigate the relationship between the driving style and vehicle roadworthiness as well. Vehicles that do not comply with the prescribed requirements should be excluded from traffic at a periodic technical inspection. However, the causes of detected vehicle defects cannot be established at a periodic technical inspection. The paper therefore, examines the factors affecting vehicle roadworthiness. First, the failure rate and mileage of vehicles at periodic technical inspection regarding the type of ownership was examined. In addition, a questionnaire was conducted to collect data about the driving style and maintenance habits of different types of car owners. The paper argues that vehicles owned by legal entities were generally in a worse condition than the vehicles owned by natural persons, due to the increased vehicle exploitation, but also due to a more aggressive driving style. Finally, it was found that by modifying their driving style, the drivers can affect the condition of their vehicles, considering the same mileage and maintenance habits.

The purpose of the article is to evaluate the factors affecting supply chain finance and the influence of supply chain finance on supply chain financing performance and SMEs performance in Vietnam. The study was conducted on 856 small and medium enterprises in Vietnam for 3 consecutive months. The data is processed by Smart PLS 3.3.6 software, the results show that credit quality, supply chain integration, information sharing, and information technology all have a statistically significant impact on supply chain finance. Besides, supply chain finance has a statistically significant impact on supply chain financing performance and SMEs performance. Finally, the innovation capability and the market response capability act as full mediators in the relationship between supply chain finance and supply chain financing performance. Based on the research results, we propose solutions and recommendations to help small and medium enterprises better access capital and improve business performance.

The objective of this study is to investigate the relationship between supply chain linkage and business performance in the lychee supply chain in Vietnam. The study collected 395 matched samples after sample screening. Partial least squares (PLS) algorithm is used to process the data. Research results show a link between supply chain linkage and business performance. Furthermore, research shows that risk supply chain, quality management, and business strategy also impact supply chain linkages and business performance.

Purpose Agri-food supply chains are facing a number of challenges, which cause inefficiencies resulting in the waste of natural and economic resources, and in negative environmental and social impacts. Food waste (FW) is a result of such inefficiencies and supply chain actors search for economically viable innovations to prevent and reduce it. This study aims to analyse the drivers and the barriers that affect the decision of supply chain operators to adopt innovations (technological – TI, organisational – OI and marketing – MI) to reduce FW. Design/methodology/approach The analysis was carried out using a four-step approach that included: a literature review to identify factors affecting the decision to adopt innovations; analysis of FW drivers and reduction possibilities along agri-food supply chains through innovations; mapping the results of Steps 1 and 2 and deriving conclusions regarding the factors affecting the adoption of innovations to reduce and prevent FW. Findings Results show that different types of innovations have a high potential in reducing and preventing FW along the supply chain; however, they still must be economically feasible to be adopted by decision makers in the food supply chain. TI, OI and MI are often interrelated and can trigger each other. When it comes to a combination of different types of innovation to reduce and prevent FW, a good example of combining TI, OI and MI may be observed in the retail sector in Europe. Here, innovative smartphone apps (TI) to promote the sale of products nearing their expiration dates (OI in terms of organising the sales differently and MI in terms of marketing it differently) were developed and adopted via different retailing channels, leading to the creation of a new business model. Practical implications This study analyses the drivers of FW generation together with the factors affecting the decision to adopt innovations to reduce it and provides solutions to supply chain operators to prevent and reduce FW through different types of innovations. Originality/value Literature has not systematically addressed innovations aiming at the reduction of FW yet. This paper provides a comprehensive literature review of the determinants of innovation adoption and offers a novel view on the problem of FW reduction by means of innovation, by linking factors affecting the decision to innovate with FW drivers.
