When two bodies interact in contact, self-oscillations or relaxation vibrations can occur, which are vibrations of parts of bodies relative to each other. The study of the processes occurring in the zone of an elastic tire interaction with a solid support base is of particular interest, since they directly affect the safety of movement of wheeled vehicles. The aim of the work is to study the conditions for the occurrence of self-oscillating processes in the zone of interaction of an elastic tire with a solid support base in three rolling modes: traction, driven, and braking. It has been established that the appearance of a self-oscillating mode in the zone of interaction of an elastic tire with a solid support base is a useful diagnostic feature providing recognition of the development of the process of losing adhesion of a wheel with a support base when the rear axle skids at early stages.

Early stages of decay by two brown-rot fungi in two woods were studied by light and scanning electron microscopy. The earliest diagnostic feature to appear was hyphae in the earlywood lumina. The earliest effect on cell walls was the loss of birefringence in the earlywood; Poria placenta (syn. Postia placenta) caused this loss at the earliest stage of decay observed, in both Douglas-fir and white fir, while Gloeophyllum trabeum caused significant weight loss before loss of birefringence was visible. Attack on the latewood progressed from the earlywood, and was different in pattern among the wood/fungus combinations. Hyphal and bore hole diameter increased throughout the early progression of decay and would be useful in evaluating the stage of decay, if the starting diameter of hyphae could be determined. Separation between cells was not observed until moderate stages of decay and, therefore, was not useful in diagnosing early stages of decay.

This article discusses the features of the environmental impact of wheeled vehicles on the soil and ways to reduce it. It was determined that one of the ways to reduce the harmful impact on the ground is to increase the tire contact spot and reduce the specific pressure in contact. The article discusses the main existing methods for determining the parameters of the contact spot of ultra-low pressure tires. The analysis of the considered methods is carried out, highlighting the advantages and disadvantages. Laboratory tests of the 1020x420-18 bus of the Bel-79 model used as a propellant on small-class forest tires were carried out. The research was carried out using a universal functional test bench for tires of the SIB-1M model. based on the method of static loading of the wheel with the application of an imprint of the painted area of the tire tread on a solid non-deformable platform, a series of experiments was carried out to determine the influence of the radial load and internal air pressure in the tire on the parameters of the tire contact spot. The results of the research are the dependences of the change in the shape of the contour and the actual area of the tire contact spot with the solid support axis. Approximating power functions

The paper deals with a design of deck primary structures of Ro-Ro vessels at early design stages. Due to the large distance between transverse bulkheads, in the case of no pillar construction, deck girders cannot be considered as supports for deck transverses. The common practice however, is to provide deck structures with deck girders anyway. It helps to distribute the local loads between transverses and to ensure the stability of deck transverses web plates. In addition, for a localized loads on deck structures girders to some extent contribute to local strength of the deck. Practically, deck girder scantlings are usually larger than those based on the minimum thickness, web depth and slenderness requirements of classification society rules. There are no publications proposing recommendations for deck girders design in pillarless structures of ro-ro ships at the early stages. Prescriptive recommendations should primarily include design bending moment value and effective breadth of the attached plate in different loading scenarios. The results presented in this paper are based on the linear finite element (FE) analysis of Ro-Ro deck having a length of 64.4 meters. Since the goal of the study was to develop recommendations for structural design aligned with prescriptive requirements of RS rules the research is provided with beam analysis carried out for 8 different loading scenarios. All of the reference calculations were made in FESTA-2020 software developed in SMTU as a part of CAD/СAE software ALMAZ-K. Verification is made with more sophisticated shell model analysis carried out in ANSYS with similar assumptions. The effective breadth of deck girders attached plate is calculated considering a distance between zero bending moment points as a nominal span. It is shown that the deck girders are highly stressed in loading cases with stacked containers and working fork lift. The calculated width of their attached plate which is in range from 0.60 to 0.75 of the distance between girders S under the load from the wheeled vehicles turns out to be close to Sin case of loading of transversely stacked containers. The authors propose to determine value of the design bending moment for deck girders at the early stages depending on span and loading of deck transverses.

The development of the macronuclear Anlage of Stylonychia notophora was studied by means of cytochemical and autoradiographic techniques. In early stages of its differentiation, the Anlage has its chromatin distributed homogeneously. Nine to ten hours later chromosomes are noticed; the nucleus is possibly diploid. Following this, the number of chromosomes increases progressively resulting in polyploidy. Later, chromosomes uncoil and polytenization follows. After consolidation and shrinkage of these chromosomes, the Anlage splits into two bodies. Five series of replication bands quickly pass through each and the vegetative macronucleus results. Synthesis of RNA by the new macronucleus starts soon after the shrinkage stage. The old macronuclei break up into small spherical bodies which are gradually resorbed in the cytoplasm. When [3H]thymidine is provided continuously to the exconjugants, there is little uptake into the Anlage until the old macronucleus is completely resorbed. Only after this, heavy labelling is noticed. Fate of the previously labelled macronuclei during conjugation shows that their breakdown products are re-utilized for the development of the new macronucleus.

Our understanding of the structure and the formation of inorganic minerals in the bivalve shells has been considerably advanced by the use of electron microscope. However, very little is known about the ultrastructure of valves in the larval stage of the oysters. The present study examines the developmental changes which occur between the time of conception to the early stages of Dissoconch in the Crassostrea virginica(Gmelin), focusing on the initial deposition of inorganic crystals by the oysters. The spawning was induced by elevating the temperature of the seawater where the adult oysters were conditioned. The eggs and sperm were collected separately, then immediately mixed for the fertilizations to occur. Fertilized animals were kept in the incubator where various stages of development were stopped and observed. The detailed analysis of the early stages of growth showed that CaCO3 crystals(aragonite), with orthorhombic crystal structure, are deposited as early as gastrula stage(Figuresla-b). The next stage in development, the prodissoconch, revealed that the crystal orientation is in the form of spherulites.

The evolution of dislocation channels in irradiated metals during deformation can be envisaged to occur in three stages: (i) formation of embryonic cluster free regions, (ii) growth of these regions into microscopically observable channels and (iii) termination of their growth due to the accumulation of dislocation damage. The first two stages are particularly intriguing, and we have attempted to follow the early stages of channel formation in polycrystalline molybdenum, irradiated to 5×1019 n. cm−2 (E > 1 Mev) at the reactor ambient temperature (∼ 60°C), using transmission electron microscopy. The irradiated samples were strained, at room temperature, up to the macroscopic yield point.Figure 1 illustrates the early stages of channel formation. The observations suggest that the cluster free regions, such as A, B and C, form in isolated packets, which could subsequently link-up to evolve a channel.
