The study was conducted on innovative practices namely Intelligent Advisory System for Farmers (IASF) and Enterprise Facilitation Centres (EFCs) in East Khasi Hills District of Meghalaya with an attempt to identify the innovative agricultural extension practices in the state which are more effective and reachable to the grassroots level. Simple random sampling method was followed in selecting forty farmers from each of the two selected innovative practices launched in Meghalaya. Data was collected using a structured interview schedule. Statistical tools such as mean, standard deviation, frequency and percentage were used for the study. The results showed that out of total respondents selected for the study 80% farmers perceived that IASF had increased their knowledge of agricultural practices, 20% farmers reported cost and time saving and 27% percent farmers reported influence in their decision making ability through ‘Mobile Crop Doctor’. Similarly, it was found that 60% farmers received capacity building support from EFCs, 33% farmers reported influence in their decision making ability and 27% famers had a better access to credit with the help of EFCs. However, these practices had been introduced recently in the state and are in its nascent stage, therefore more awareness on the benefits of using ICTs should be given to farmers along with better training and capacity building to encourage and enable them to utilise the benefits of ICTs and improve their farming practices.

A lot of problems have been militating against the efforts of Izala Islamic civil society association towards improving the quality of the democratic order. As a case study qualitative research inquiry, the study was conducted through an in-depth semi-structured interview with 18 key informant’s personal experiences on the phenomenon. Analysis of data was done by using NVivo 12 which significantly aided in the coding, categorization and data management which produced the themes and sub-themes. System theory was used as a framework in the explanation of the phenomenon. The study found out that there are myriads of problematic issues related to the strategies used by the Izala organization; which negates their strategies in the democratization process. Furthermore, the study has identified the various ways in which such strategies could be strengthened for the Islamic organization to give a positive impact on the advancement of the democratization process in the State. Thus, the study presents a conceptually and empirically supported framework to describe the strategies of Islamic civic association in the democratization process of the state. In effect, therefore, the lingering Izala strategy’s crises in the democratization process was explored and analyzed. The study is particularly useful for religious civil societies, politicians, policy-makers, and researchers by identifying and proposing the ways in which the state, political parties, religious organizations, and other democratic stakeholders should conduct and relate in a nascent democratizing society. The analysis points toward the potential for change in the strategies of Izala Islamic civil society in the democratization process.

This article explores the stochastic capabilities offered by Markov theories combined with business transaction models, from the Enterprise Engineering field, to contribute to the decision-making body of knowledge. An agro-food case study shows the utility of this solution and the evaluation argues the management decisions value in situations where is not possible to fully observe the state of the reality, or to be fully aware about it. A full policy graph that forecasts the belief states from observations and enacted actions is delivered.

Purpose This paper aims to investigate data elements, transfer, gaps and the challenges to implement data analytics in facilities management. The goal is not to search for a definite solution but to gather necessary information, understand the challenges faced and develop a proper foundation for future study. Design/methodology/approach This paper used a case study approach with a qualitative method. The case of the Georgia Institute of Technology was investigated by having a semi-structured interview with six relevant personnel. The recorded interview content was analyzed and presented based on six work processes. Findings Higher education institutions are taking initiatives but facing challenges in implementing data analytics. There were 36 software tools used to manage different aspects of facilities at Georgia Tech. Identified data elements and data processing indicated that major challenges for data-driven decision-making were inconsistency in data input and structure, the issue of interoperability among different software tools and a lack of software training. Research limitations/implications The authors only interviewed individuals who work closely with data gathering, transfer and processing. Thus, the study did not explore the perspective of individuals in the leadership level or the user group level. Originality/value Facilities management departments in higher education institutions perform multi-disciplinary functions, including building automation, continuous commissioning and preventative maintenance, all of which are data- and technology-intensive. Managing this overwhelming amount of information is often a challenge, but well-planned data analytics can be used to draw keen insights about any aspect of facilities management and operations and assist in evidence-based decision-making.

There has been a burgeoning of geography literature that draws on post-politics to make sense of trends in Western liberal democracies. This body of literature argues that consensus is constructed around capitalism, and spaces for dissensus are closed off. However, critiques have focused on the state-centric and totalising nature of some of this literature. This article adds nuance and depth to explorations of post-politicising processes. I do this through an empirical case study that demonstrates how dissensus is disavowed through the construction of community, and highlights gendered and classed experiences of this disavowal. In exploring a rural community in Aotearoa New Zealand engaged in catchment-based decision making, I draw on Nancian critical community scholarship to analyse how neoliberal and rural discourses defined belonging. Boundaries, and who could access the catchment committee, were shaped by expectations of economic consumption, spatial membership, gendered behavioural norms and class. The policing of these boundaries became increasingly antagonistic to the point of threats of violence. Accounts by those who experienced this policing demonstrate the embodied and largely banal nature of post-politicising processes. And yet, this case study illustrates how efforts to depoliticise are entangled with politicisation and raises questions about how change unfolds.

The study underlines the socio-cultural obstacles to women’s empowerment in the target area. Kohat district was chosen as locale of the study. 78 women working in 3 different Technical and Vocational Training Institutes were randomly interviewed for the study. Structured interview schedule was used as tool for collecting data from the sample respondents. The results of the study indicate that Socio-Cultural hindrances exist and are obstructing women empowerment in the target area. The condition can be improved by creating socio-cultural values favourable to women empowerment through education, jobs, decision-making power and by avoiding misinterpretation of religion etc.

Good Agricultural Practices (GAP) is a new idea for Punjab farmers. Most vegetable growers are unaware of it and have not implemented the practices. The study aimed to establish the factors that influence the awareness of GAP among vegetable growers in Punjab, India. Consequently, 100 vegetable growers were selected by purposive sampling and simple random sampling techniques. Multiple regression was used to analyze the effect of the variables on the awareness of GAP among the vegetable growers. Results showed that education, operational land, land leased, training, and income had a significant effect on the awareness of GAP. Based on the results, emphasis on training and capacity building of vegetable growers regarding GAP is suggested as a way of increasing awareness.

Microfinance is one of the financial instruments for small and medium entrepreneurs to run a business. The constrains to obtain a capital often involving underprivileged entrepreneurs because it is difficult to get a fund from the financial institutions. Currently in Malaysia, Amanah Ikhtiar Malaysia (AIM) and TEKUN National are among the institutions that offer the native to obtain the business capital. Otherwise, the State Zakat Institution provides an assistance as a business capital by mean of “one-off” which does not require the borrowers to make a repayment at the end of the day. From a Muslim entrepreneur's perspective, micro finance that offered is consisting element of riba and it is prohibited in Islam. For that reason, seem that the financial assistance provided by zakat institutions is seen as unproductive and elective. Thus, micro-finance through zakat funds is an alternative proposition for unprivileged entrepreneurs. This article aims to analyze the readiness of zakat institutions in Malaysia to apply micro finance from zakat funds. The study is done using the case study method by conducting a semi-structured interview with 5 zakat officers and a micro finance officers from Tekun Nasional. This study found that there is a tendency to apply micro finance from the zakat fund. In other words, zakat institutions in Malaysia are ready to implement zakat distribution by mean of micro finance. Hopefully, this study will be served as a reference for zakat institutions especially in Malaysia to practice micro finance from the zakat funds.

World leaders are making concerted effort to tackle the menace of food insecurity brought about by upsurge in human population, climate change and displacement of farming communities due to civil unrest in some part of the world. This study was undertaken to assess the current status of fish farming in Plateau State and suggest possible ways of ameliorating any observed challenges for increased fish production. The study evaluated the challenges affecting fish farming in the study area. Structured interview schedule questionnaire were used in sourcing information from nine (9) local government areas in the state.  Ninety (90) fish farmers were randomly selected from the nine (9) local governments areas each drawn from the three Agricultural zones of the State. Data obtained were analysed using descriptive statistics. The findings revealed that majority of the fish farmers 70% were males and between the ages of 21-30 years. The study also revealed that the major constraints affecting increased level of output in the study area were high cost of inputs (feeds), poor marketing channels, inadequate finance, inadequate access to credit facilities, and poor extension services. Fish farming in the study area is however, profitable as majority of the farmers made a gross profit margin of above # 501,000.00 per annum. The study recommends that fish hatcheries and feed mill should be established in the study area and that single digit credit facilities should be granted to interested fish farmers. Also extension services with respect to fish farming should be increased in the study area. A good quality fish market should also be established in the study area to assist the farmers in marketing their produce in order to optimise profit.

The paper aims to identify the quality of political participation of women in Serbia through the prism of activism at the local level. The research covered the municipality of Ruma in the period from July 2, 2020 to July 2, 2021, which conducted a research of an individual and not a mosaic or a case in a row. Using the case study method, data collection was conducted in a semi-structured interview on a sample of six respondents. The results of the research showed that women, in accordance with the quantitative shift in the political life of Serbia in general, are delegated in the Ruma division of power at all levels, but that gender is still less represented in positions of power and decision-making, as well as in decision-making. Women in Ruma, with their political participation, do not sufficiently realize the gender dimension of political representation, because either they are not sufficiently aware of this segment and do not recognize it as important or they lack the courage to do so and encounter a wall in parliamentary debates. The results of the research could be important for considering ways to improve the quality of women's participation in politics at the local level in the direction of greater substantive representation, as well as gender sensitivity, which would increase greater motivation of women to get involved in politics, affect the quality of work. representative body, but also a change in the political climate in society, which is still masculine. The research showed that the solidarity of women in politics should be strengthened, regardless of belonging to a political party, and they should be encouraged to be louder and braver in expressing their views in parliamentary debates, so that they can essentially fight for their interests.
