The empirical study defines typical investment behaviour of foreign-owned firms against local firms and highlights benefits and any discrepancies of foreign capital. The paper focuses on industrial enterprises in Slovakia mainly from the automotive, engineering and wood-processing industry (N = 164). Results show the significant dependence of foreign ownership and better business performance compared with domestic firms. The performance was expressed through ROE indicator. Enterprises with the foreign participation of property achieve better performance, most typically with ROE above 10% (p-value &amp;lt; 0.05). The better performance, as well as distinctive feature of intangibles and research &amp; development investments, are typically in foreign-owned firms. Intangibles and R&amp;D as crucial investments do not directly cause better business performance in foreign-owned firms, and we discuss the reasons. The research results offer relevant and interesting implications for managers behaviour, also public authorities as well as motives for further investigation of the business performance management and foreign direct investment issues

The growing field of Operational Business Intelligence (BI) has resulted in increasing interest in BI-supported Business Processes (BPs), including their management and ongoing improvement. This has led BI practitioners to consider another field–Business Process Management (BPM)–that is closely related to business performance management. However, current approaches to the BPM and operational BI integration have been limited and reduced to the problem of technical integration of BPM and BI systems. This paper argues that by adopting process- thinking in BI, further opportunities for business value creation could be discovered through systematic analysis of the non-technical aspects of BI and BPM integration, including strategy alignment, human-centered knowledge management, and ongoing improvement of BI supported processes. The authors propose a theoretical framework founded in the related research in BPM, BI, and Knowledge Management (KM) fields, describing the ways it has been used to guide ongoing empirical research in diverse case organizations across different industry sectors.

The cost of supporting business processes in industrial enterprises is equal to 15 to 35 percent of its total costs. The process management technology offers new principles for attributing these costs to the costs of goods manufactured. However, the existing attributing methods do not take into account complex relationships between business processes of an enterprise and the problem of closed cycles appearance during allocation of the costs of supporting business processes. Use of the offered multicycle principle of attributing the costs of supporting business processes to commodity production costs allows eliminating the above specified disadvantages. Improvement of the existing methods with reference to this principle enables more accurate calculation of the cost of goods manufactured and take more reasoned management decisions. The article shows an illustrative example of formation of closed cycles in allocation of the costs of supporting business processes, as well as the calculations for multicycle allocation of the costs of supporting business processes to primary business processes.

Processes generate results that the company provides to its customers. Customers outcomes and processes are connected in dependable interaction. The capacity of the company to provide results that customers expect, largely depends on how well managers or business analysts design and manage processes. A key factor to ensure sustainable achievement of the organization's business process management in industrial enterprises from Bulgaria, which inevitably requires continuous measurement of their effectiveness. Ideally, the measurement must be linked to high company goals, to ensure that the processes are oriented towards these goals and assessed according to their contribution to achieving them. On the other side, measurements should be used to assess the performance of individual employees involved in the process. In other words, the high efficiency of the steps (taken as synonymous with the activities in the project context and modeling terminology using software tools) of processes should be rewarded. In a time when resources are more intangible, tangible shift as a tool for value creation, financial analysis of business becomes increasingly insufficient for the establishment of adequate assessment and prognosis. The new business reality provokes appearance of new methodologies to improve the management of business processes, and measuring and managing organizational performance.

The purpose of this paper is to show the relative impact of liquidity, leverage, and solvency on profitability of industrial enterprises listed on the Amman Stock Exchange to ascertain which of them has the most effect on profitability. To reach the objectives of this study, 44 Jordanian industrial companies are examined from 2012 to 2018. Return on assets (ROA) and return on equity (ROE) are examined as measures of performance, current ratio and quick ratio as measures of liquidity, debt ratio and debt to equity ratio as measures of leverage, and the interest coverage ratio as a measure of financial solvency. Multiple regression analysis was used to check the hypotheses. A negative and statistically significant impact was found at the 1% level between financial leverage and profitability. At the same time, findings did not show the same for the effect of liquidity and solvency on profitability. In addition, leverage has the highest relative impact among independent variables on profitability, followed by solvency and then liquidity. Moreover, it is indicated that company size is a control variable of the effect between liquidity, leverage, and solvency on performance. Thus, it is concluded that management of industrial companies should reduce dependence on debt to finance companies to achieve the highest possible returns; it is recommended to maintain an acceptable level of liquidity to ensure the continuity of companies and attention to the level of solvency within companies to maintain a high financial performance.
