This qualitative and interpretive study aimed to analyze how a group of eleventh graders reconstructed their social identity through life stories and writing related tasks in their native language. This notion is supported in professional literature: “Constructing and reconstructing identity through narratives is like giving sense to the life;” “It is like reorganizing the story lived,” (Park & Burgess, 1924, p. 4). “It is like trying to assume what has happened with the lives and turn them into stories,” (Hardy, 1968, p. 9). The Reconstruction of identity can be expressed through language learning in the way students use narratives; such narratives can provide a glimpse into students’ private world, (Pavlenko, 2007). The instruments from which data was collected were life stories and interviews. The four participants reconstructed their identity with descriptions of overcoming abuse and mistreatment, fighting to survive and to continue ahead, and creating a better life.

Abstract The 2016 much acclaimed American sci-fi movie Arrival is based on (what is in reality an extension of) the so-called “Sapir-Whorf” hypothesis, a linguistic theory set forth in the first half of the 20th century, according to which one’s native language dictates the way in which one perceives reality. By taking into account the latest in human knowledge, this paper tries to provide arguments as to why such a claim works wonderfully in fiction, but not in science.

In this paper I claim that the metaphysical concept of culture has come to an end. Among the European authors Georg Simmel is the foremost who has deconstructed the myth of culture as a substantial totality beyond relations or prior to them. Two tenets of research have prepared the end of all-inclusive culture: First, Simmel’s formal access that considers society as the modality of interactions and relations between individuals, thus overcoming the social evolutionism of Auguste Comte; second, his critical exegesis of idealistic philosophy of history, thus leaving behind the Hegelian tradition. Although Simmel adheres in some statements to the out-dated idea of morphological unity, his sociological and epistemological thinking paved the way for the concept of social identity as a network of series connected loosely by contiguity. This type of connection is confirmed by the present feeling of life as individual self-invention according to changing situations.

The beginnings of the shaping of social representations of borrowings in the public sphereThe article presents an initial phase of the process of shaping of social representations of borrowings. The aim was to obtain a view of the way in which participants of the public sphere talked about these elements of language, how they perceived them as well as what common sense image was created on this basis in the communication sphere and how it was modified. The first judgements and opinions on the matter of foreign words appeared around the 16th century and evolved from that moment. The theory of social representations developed by Serge Moscovici was applied as a theoretical and methodological basis of the description. Its research tools allow us to see the way in which societies construct meanings of matters important to them. On the basis of the analysis of the material it was established that from the beginning there were rather antagonistic elements of social representations of borrowings. The functionality of borrowings was noticed. Yet it was postulated that they should be eliminated from texts on account of the necessity to develop the native language, the incomprehensibility of statements as well as the excessive trend of foreignness.

Human social identity requires him to continue to be connected with other humans in a harmonious social relationship. The Bible also places justice as a vital part of human social life. The biblical description reveals that God is a just person and there is never fraud in God. The aim of this research is to interpret the Bible's teachings about God's justice from the perspective of Pentecostal theology. This article contains an explanation of the importance of justice for humans, the Bible's narrative about God's justice, and the way Pentecostals interpret God's justice. The method used in this research is descriptive and literature review. Based on the results of the discussion, it was concluded that in the view of the Pentecostals, God's justice speaks of God's character. The justice of Allah is also interpreted by the Pentecostals as God's Rule that God wants to be obeyed. In addition, God's justice also means the defense of Allah and the demands that God wants every believer to do in social life so that they can be maximized as witnesses of God and become salt and light for the community where God has placed.  Identitas sosial manusia menuntutnya untuk terus terkoneksi dengan manusia lainnya dalam sebuah hubungan sosial yang harmonis. Alkitab pun meletakkan keadilan sebagai bagian vital dalam kehidupan sosial manusia.  Deskripsi Alkitab mengungkapkan bahwa Allah adalah pribadi yang adil dan tidak ada kecurangan dalam diri Allah. Tujuan penelitin ini bermaksud memaknai ajaran Alkitab tentang keadilan Allah dari sudut pandang teologi Pentakosta. Artikel ini berisi tentang penjelasan pentingnya keadilan bagi manusia, narasi Alkiab tentang keadilan Allah, dan cara kaum Pentakosta memaknai keadilan Allah. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini deskriptif dan kajian literatur. Berdasarkan hasil pembahasan ditarik kesimpulan bahwa dalam pandangan kaum Pentkosta keadilan Allah berbicara karakter Allah. Keadilan Allah juga dimaknai kaum Pentaksota sebagai Aturan Allah yang Allah ingin untuk dipatuhi. Selain itu, keadilan Allah juga dimaknai pembelaan Allah dan tuntutan yang Allah ingin setiap orang percaya lakukan dalam kehidupan bermasyarakat agar bisa maksimal sebagai saksi Tuhan dan menjadi garam serta terang bagi komunitas dimana Tuhan tempatkan.

This was a descriptive qualitative study which was done in 2017 at junior high schools in Semarang Central Java, Indonesia. This study focused on the teachers’ perception and teaching writing using word games. According to Chastain (1988) "writing is a basic communication skill and a unique tool in the process of second language learning" (p.244). The problem of this study was what are the teachers’ perception towards the word games used in enhancing the students’ writing skill? The sample of the research were 6 junior high schools’ students in Semarang central java, Indonesia. They were students of grade eighth at SMP N 8, SMPN 39, SMPN 36, SMP Institut Indonesia, SMP PGRI Semarang, and SMP Theresiana Semarang. A structured interview was kindly used as the instrument in collecting the data. The findings are; 1) Teaching writing is not easy and need to be creative to make students understand since they have to master the way hoe to organize a good paragraph or text. 2) Usually they do not apply any games in teaching writing since they got the material for granted. 3) Most of the teachers have known what word game is. Even they have applied it sometimes in speaking and vocabulary. 4) Teachers rarely do teaching English using word games by purpose. Especially teaching writing, teachers do not really pay attention on the current skill. 5) Even though some teachers do not really understand the way to use word games in the case of implementation but then, they are aware that students need a motivation in a space of teaching and learning process during filling the material. 6) Teachers like teaching writing using word games because word games can help them to motivate students in following the questions since the love playing while learning in the classroom. 7) teachers can motivate students to follow the lesson with fun, teachers easily follow the word games because it is equipped by the clear instructions, there are various word games which are related to teaching skills, word games are easily made/created by teachers based on the need of the lesson plan, word games are the simplest media to teach and long life. 8) word games which applicable to teach writing using word games are entitled broken sentence, mixed story, arranging sentence in a story, and getting occupation. The conclusions are The teachers’ perceptions towards teaching writing using word games are; teachers feel happy and fun during teaching writing using word games, teachers need more energy and time to maintain the word games, teachers should focus on the goal of writing mastery not the game itself, teachers should be creative in creating and organizing the word games, and teachers believe that word games are able to motivate students in following the lesson.  Key words: teachers’ perception, teaching writing, word games

This review aimed at investigating the role of help, hope, and harmony formally known as positive 3H on students' engagement and peacebuilding. This topic has recently attracted attention since teachers and the way they treat students are said to play a paramount role in the learning process and as a result, peace can be built in the classroom and students also are more likely to be actively engaged in the tasks. To start with, a definition for positive 3-H was presented coupled with the role it plays in language learning contexts. Then the way both inner peace and interpersonal peace have been applied in the learning process to build peace is discussed. Following that, the effects of positive 3-H on students' engagement and peacebuilding through raising some relevant activities are dealt with. Finally, implications and further directions are put forward.

   Abstrak Pemakaian Bilingualisme dalam Interaksi Siswa di Kelas Rendah di Madrasah Ibtidaiyah Negeri Singaraja Bali. Tulisan ini mengungkapkan realitas dari implikasi bilingualisme dalam pendidikan dasar. Konteksnya tidak hanya memperhatikan pembelajaran bahasa, tetapi terhadap pendidikan dalam arti luas. Hal ini karena bilingualisme <<memaksa>> para guru untuk mempertimbangkan pengajaran bahasa dalam pembelajaran di kelas. Umumnya, siswa dari Madrasah Ibtidaiyah Negeri Singaraja Bali -Sekolah Dasar Islam- memiliki latar belakang bahasa Indonesia (L1). Bahasa Indonesia digunakan dengan berbagai dialek dan kosa kata bahasa Bali. Penggunaan bahasa Indonesia sebagai bahasa sehari-hari mereka disebabkan orang tua mereka berasal dari latar belakang lingkungan dan masyarakat multi-etnis. Orang tua mereka adalah generasi keempat dan kelima dari nenek moyang mereka, dan hampir tidak menggunakan bahasa asli mereka dalam ranah keluarga. Para keluarga migran ini sebagian besar adalah pedagang, buruh, dan beberapa dari mereka adalah PNS. Bahasa Bali, sebagai L2 diperoleh dalam lingkungan sosial terutama di sekolah menengah. Implikasi dari Bahasa Indonesia sebagai bahasa pengajaran lebih “mendidik-akomodatif”, disesuaikan dengan latar belakang bahasa siswa dan tingkat perkembangan bahasanya.Kata kunci: bilingualisme, implikasi, bahasa, pembelajaran     Abstract Bilingualism Implications in Primary Classroom Interactive Students of Madrasah Ibtidaiyah Negeri Singaraja Bali. This paper reveals the reality of these implications. Its context does not concern only in the language learning, but into the education in broadest sense also. It is because bilingualism “force” teachers to consider language teaching in the classroom instruction. Generally, students of Madrasah Ibtidaiyah Negeri Singaraja Bali-as an Islamic Primary School- have Indonesian language background (L1). Indonesian language used with various dialects of Balinese language and its vocabulary. The use of Indonesian as their everyday language is caused their parents from neighborhood background and the multi-ethnic milieu. Their parents are fourth and fifth generation of their forefather, and almost had not used their native language in family domain. The migrant families were mostly traders, laborers, and some of them are civil servants. Balinese language, as L2 acquired in social domain especially in secondary scholl. The implication of Indonesian as language teaching more “educative-accommodative”; adjusted by students’s language background and their level of language development.Keywords: bilingualism, implication, language, learning
