As the effect of school closure following the coronavirus lockdowns, the use of virtual classrooms has extremely rocketed to replace face-to-face school interaction. This change has resulted in new habits and adaptation in methods and approaches of teaching, particularly in the era of post pandemic recovery. This study is based on the phenomena occurred in most of school environments where digital (online) teaching practices become a new habit for teachers and students. A question that may arise is “do they still prefer online after the pandemic?” Drawing on this issue, this study aims to examine the beliefs of Philippines junior high schools teachers on digital teaching competence and to explore their preferences on teaching methods (online or offline) in post pandemic recovery. This study utilized a discovery-oriented qualitative approach, bridging into personal narrative and ethnographic perspective by involving twelve teachers teaching at several junior high schools in Davao Philippines. Syntactic awareness has been linked to reading comprehension skills. In Junior high schools, syntactic awareness of noun phrases can be very important for the students in the Indonesian context because it can improve their reading comprehension. However, teaching noun phrases for the students can be challenging due to the grammar difference. The junior high school student’s noun phrase awareness was measured using a developed test. It consists of 28 questions with seven noun categories. The reliability test was conducted using KR-20 and the result was .90.   The study indicated the average score of the students was 69.07 (fair). Of the seven noun phrases category, nominal possessors and conjoined noun phrases were good, prenominal possessors, multiple genitive constructs, alienable and inalienable possessions, and ad-positional phrases were fair, and nonreferential generative was weak. Referring to the result of the research, it is suggested to improve the student’s noun phrase awareness to enhance their reading comprehension.

Four C skills’ integration in English curriculum has been investigated in recent years. Unfortunately, those studies focused on the integration of 4Cs in lesson plans carried out in elementary schools. Thus, this research aimed to analyze how the 4C skills were implemented in English lesson plans of 7th grade. The data were collected through content analysis on ten lesson plans of public and private junior high schools in Jakarta and Bekasi. It was found that all analyzed lesson plans have incorporated the 4Cs skills; communication, collaboration, critical thinking, and creativity. However, there were indicators of each skill that more dominantly appeared in a certain topic or were seen not to be incorporated in any examined lesson plans. In addition, teachers mostly incorporated the 4Cs skills in the learning activity and assessment. Although all the analyzed lesson plans have integrated 4Cs, the fulfilment of the indicators of each skill still needed to be improved. These findings are expected to be a recommendation for educators especially English teachers in designing lesson plans which integrated the 4C skills as the keys to a lifetime of learning and creative work as the current world of work is required leads to the need for integration of 4Cs in the classroom.
