The retrospective analysis of nearest results of laparoscopic surgery for cardiospasm was provided according to the materials of the department of thoracic surgery of the «Volgograd Regional clinical Hospital №1» for 2018–2020. The research included 32 laparoscopic surgical treatment cases of cardiospasm II–III stage with Heller’s method with Nissen’s fundoplication or partial fundoplication after Tupa (270 ºС). Analysis of the nearest results of laparoscopic surgery for cardiospasm rated the advantages of the laparoscopic method in perfoming exstramucosal esophagocardiomyotomy are assessed. The traumatism and time of the operation decreasewas marked, it was reduced the patients hospital stay and postoperation rehabilitation was also redused in patients with II–III stage of the disease.

The retrospective analysis of results of urethral strictural disease surgical treatment cases (according to the materials of the urological department of the «Volgograd Regional Clinical Hospital № 1» for 2015–2020) was provided. The research included 168 surgical treatment cases of urethral strictures of different localization, longitude and etiology. The patients were operated using different surgical technics. Comparative analysis of results of surgical treatment in patients with urethral strictures was provided. The research evaluates the efficacy of used methods: internal optical urethrotomy, anastomotic plastics «edge to edge», buccal urethroplastics, urethral plastics without spongious body incisoin. It was found out that now-a-days the most prognostically favourable methods in urethral stictural disease surgical treatment are the buccal plastics and «edge to edge». Otherwise, due to few observed cases, the plastics without spongious body incision demands more detailed and thorough analysis for verifying it’s comparative efficacy.

Introduction. Perianal abscess (PA) is a relatively common condition in children and occurs in 0.5 to 4.3% of the infant population. In the majority of cases, it is associated with fistula in ano (FIA). Surgical treatment of FIA includes fistulectomy, fistulotomy or, rarely, cryptotomy. Aim. The aim of the study is to perform a retrospective analysis of treatment methods and outcomes for PA and FIA in infants at the Department of Paediatric Surgery and Urology of the Regional Specialised Children’s Hospital in Olsztyn, Poland, in 2014-2019. Material and methods. From January 2014 to December 2019, 44 infants with diagnosed PA and FIA were treated. The majority of patients were boys: 41 (93%) and only 3 (7%) were girls. For PA, three different treatment methods were used: incision and drainage, fistulotomy or fistulectomy. Results. Out of 44 treated infants with diagnosed PA and FIA, 29 were treated only by incision and drainage. Among them, 19 were cured. FIA was identified in 9 patients and fistulectomy or fistulotomy was performed. In this group, there was 1 recurrence, which was retreated with fistulectomy and cured. In 6 patients, PA drained spontaneously; in 3 of them there was recurrence and FIA was diagnosed during another hospital stay. There were 7 fistulotomies and 14 fistulectomies performed and their efficacy was 100 vs 93%, respectively. Conclusions. Fistulotomy is the most effective and safest method of FIA treatment in infants. In every case of perianal abscess diagnosis, a fistula in ano should be looked for.

Background: The number of postgraduate students in Cardiac surgical discipline is increasing day by day with incremental proportion are measurably suffering from the unnecessary lingering of the present course curriculum. The primary objective of this study was to find out the last 5 years’ of results of Masters in Surgery course under the University of Dhaka from a student room survey. A secondary objective was to find out positive changes that could show us the way of a step toward up-gradation. Methods: It is a retrospective analysis of all examination results of Cardio-vascular & Thoracic Surgery published since January 2008 to January 2013 from the University of Dhaka with in depth interview of 11 participants. Results: 85.24% students failed to pass part-I of Masters in Surgery for Cardio-vascular & Thoracic Surgery course while, 82.18% in part-II and 71.28% failed to pass the final part. Average 2.51 attempts needed to complete each part of the designed course resulted into lingering of course duration for 42.18 months/student. In the thoracic surgery discipline the number of students alarmingly reduced up to 0% in the recent academic sessions. Conclusions: Masters in Surgery is resulting in unnecessary prolongation of the course. We should step forward to meet the next generation challenge. Multiple traumatic hematomas (MG) account for 0.74% of all traumatic brain injuries. A comprehensive diagnostic approach to multiple traumatic intracranial hematomas allows to establish a diagnosis in the early stages of traumatic brain injury and to determine treatment tactics. A differentiated approach to the choice of surgical treatment of multiple hematomas allows to achieve satisfactory results and treatment outcomes, which accordingly contributes to the early activation of the patient, a reduction in hospital stay, a decrease in mortality and disabilityin patients with traumatic brain injury

Omental infarct is a rare cause of an acute abdomen that arises from an interruption of blood supply to the omentum. Here, we present a case of omental infarct in a 67-year-old gentleman with background history of diabetes mellitus who present unusually with a severe acute onset right hypochondrium pain. Examination revealed that he was tender to touch at the right and was having localized guarding. His inflammatory markers were normal. He was successfully treated with laparoscopy surgery and he was subsequently discharged the following day. Omental infarct cases with right hypochondrium pain can sometimes mimicked acute cholecystitis and management includes laparoscopic surgery which can hasten symptoms resolution and reduces hospital stay, however recommendation for surgery has to be balanced with anesthetics risk and complication of the surgery itself.

There are presented results of surgical treatment of 347 patients with colorectal cancer. Based on the retrospective analysis a comparative study of results of surgical treatment for colorectal cancer using laparoscopic technologies and “open” access was carried out. Predictive factors that correlate with the risk of postoperative complications with laparoscopic and “open” access at the surgical stage of treatment for colorectal cancer were determined.
