The Mikhailovskoe Pushkin readings, held in the State Museum-Reserve of A. S. Pushkin “Mikhailovskoe” in 2020, were dedicated to the next anniversary of Alexander Pushkin’s arrival in exile to Mikhailovskoe and another significant and very relevant date in the context of modern events — the 200th anniversary of Alexander Pushkin’s visit to the Crimea. At the same time, we are taking into account that 2020 is marked by the 75th anniversary of the victory in the Great Patriotic war, to which the peoples of our multi-ethnic Fatherland made a decisive contribution. The Great Victory is the result of unprecedented feat of our fathers and grandfathers, and this feat is a natural achievement of the centuries — old heroic history of Russia and spiritual development of its peoples. The events of 75 years ago, filled with tragedy and epic grandeur, are experienced with special fullness throughout this year. They defined the cross-cutting content of the conference. The theme of the readings made it possible to recall and comprehend heroic pages of our Fatherland`s history, reflected both in works of folk art and documents, written testimonies, literary sources, and in the work by A. S. Pushkin, writers of his generation, formed in the process of “opening Russian history” and understanding it in the context of the Patriotic war of 1812. During the Readings participants also discussed the problems of museum business, new archival publications, issues of cinema and its reception in a modern cultural space.

An important event in the artistic life of the Far East in 2020 was the exhibition “Great Victory” in the Primorye State Art Gallery. The article provides an analytical review of this two-part exhibition. The first part is the work of the Honored Artist of the RSFSR, Corresponding Member of the Russian Academy of Arts Kirill Shebeko, who will celebrate his 100th birthday this year. First of all, the Far Eastern paintings of the master, not Primorye, were specially selected from the collection for this exhibition. The second hall shows works of contemporary Primorye artists from Vladivostok, Ussuriysk, Nakhodka, Khabarovsk, Blagoveshchensk, Ulan-Ude, and Yakutsk prepared specifically for the 75th anniversary of the Victory in the Great Patriotic War. Together with all the millions of people during the past war, thousands of medical workers of the USSR Navy fulfilled their patriotic duty. During the war, the medical service of the USSR Navy provided for the use of medical vessels on all fleets. The medical service of the fleets did not intend to carry out sea transportation of the wounded in the interests of the ground forces, so it was planned to put into operation only 9 medical vessels. The heroic traditions of Russian naval medicine are carefully preserved and enhanced by the current medical staff of the Navy.

Risk of the spread of acute contagious infections at the front has sharply increased with the beginning of the Great Patriotic War of 1941–1945, as a result of which the problem of ensuring sanitary and epidemic wellbeing, including the home front, has been put forward. The issue of preventing the spread of infectious diseases was developed in the war period on the home front, by a group of scientists from the city of Chkalov as well. An important role was given to solving the problem of production of bactericides, improving the production of vaccines and serums, research to increase their immune properties, reduce reactivity, etc. Three institutes of epidemiology and microbiology functioned in the city of Chkalov (now Orenburg) in wartime: Smolensky, Chkalovsky and Ukrainian institute named after I. In the year of the 75th anniversary of the Great Victory, the authors consider the activity of the V.I. Lenin State Library of the USSR (GBL) on preparation and release of bibliographic publications during the Great Patriotic War. This topic was covered in the specialized literature briefly and fragmentally (with the exception of work in the field of recommendation bibliography). The aim of the article is to fill in the existing gaps in the study of this area of GBL activity during the war.In the pre-war years, the GBL transformed into one of the leading bibliographic centres of the country — both reference and bibliographing. Both directions were mainly concentrated in the Scientific Bibliographic Department, where at the turn of the 1930s and 1940s preparation of bibliographic publications was structurally distinguished. With the beginning of the war, the GBL reorganized its work in accordance with the conditions and tasks of wartime. The amount of bibliographic work in the first months of the war was significantly reduced. Publishing activities, including the production of bibliographic publications, ceased and resumed in the second half of 1942. Recommendation indexes and lists on actual subjects were the main type of bibliographic materials created and published by the GBL during the war years. The article highlights the activities of two leading bibliographic departments of the GBL during this period: the Scientific Bibliographic Department and the Military Department. There are two areas of activity of the Scientific Bibliographic Department: general and scientific-auxiliary bibliography and recommendation bibliography. During the Great Patriotic War, the library produced mainly reference manuals, as well as also prepared several scientific publications. The authors present employees of both departments who have made the most significant contribution to the preparation of bibliographic publications. In addition, the article notes several bibliographic publications created in other structural divisions.
