The experiment was conducted at Agronomy Instructional Farm, S. D. Agricultural University, Sardarkrushinagar during Kharif 2020 to examined the effect of different foliar spray of plant growth regulators viz., GA3 (100 and 200 ppm), NAA (50 and 100 ppm), CCC (500 and 1000 ppm) and SA (500 and 1000 ppm) on seed yield and its related attributes of sesame variety (Gujarat Til 3).The research was laid out in randomized block design, with ten treatments in three replication under rainfed condition. GA3 200 ppm significantly increased seed yield and its attributes of sesame the number of capsule per plant, number of seeds per capsule, biological yield, harvest index and oil content.

Impact of plant growth regulators viz., benzyl amino purine (BAP - 50 ppm), brassinolide (BL - 0.5 ppm), and nutrient like KCl (1%) alone and with combination on growth and growth analytical parameters, and yield of finger millet by foliar spray at panicle initiation stage under rainfed condition was studied in field experiment. The treatments including control, KCl, BAP, BL, KCl + BAP, KCl + BL, BAP + BL and KCl + BAP + BL and different growth and growth analytical parameters were estimated. Combination of KCl, BAP and BL registered highest root length (17.2 cm), leaf area (425.3 cm2), leaf area index (1.82) and leaf area duration (55.7 days) compared to other treatments. Higher specific leaf weight and crop growth rate were recorded by KCl + BAP, and BAP + BL, respectively. The highest grain yield of 22.5 Q/ha was recorded by KCl + BAP + BL.

Field experiments were conducted in the Department of Seed Science and Technology, University of Agricultural Sciences, Dharwad, Karnataka during 2016-17. The field experiment consisted of 18 treatment combinations involving two seasons viz., kharif 2016 and rabi 2016-17 and plant growth regulators viz., G1: Control, G2 : GA3 @ 50 ppm, G3 : NAA @ 40 ppm, G4 : Cycocel @ 100 ppm, G5 : Mepiquat chloride @ 50 ppm, G6 : Nitrobenzene @ 200 ppm, G7: TIBA @ 50 ppm, G8 : Brassinosteroids @ 200 ppm, G9 : GA3 @ 5 ppm + IAA @ 5 ppm and experiment was laid out in Factorial RBD with three replications. The more number of pods per plant (117.19), number of seeds per pod (4.25), dry pod yield per plant (118.53 g), dry pod yield per plot (2.07 kg), seed yield per plant (114.48 g), pod length (5.66 cm), seed yield per plot (2.32 kg), seed yield per hectare (1,281 kg) was recorded in rabi season than kharif. Among the plant growth regulators more number of pods per plant (120.44), number of seeds per pod (4.44), dry pod yield per plant (120.17 g), dry pod yield per plot (2.21 kg), seed yield per plant (117.60 g), seed yield per plot (2.55 kg), seed yield per hectare (1,360 kg) and pod length (6.04 cm) was recorded in NAA @ 40 ppm, followed by nitrobenzene @ 200 ppm, (119.78, 4.35, 119.54, 2.11, 116.76, 2.42, 1,299 kg and 5.93 cm, respectively). The interaction effect was found to be non-significant for majority of the characters studied. However, foliar spray of NAA @ 40 ppm during rabi season recorded higher crop growth, seed yield and quality parameters as compared to control.

An experiment was conducted at Jute Research Regional Station (JRRS) of Bangladesh Jute Research Institute (BJRI), Kishoreganj during August 2009 to January 2010 to determine the effect of different plant growth regulators on seed yield and quality of olitorius jute using late jute seed production technique. The experiment was laid out in a randomized complete block design (RCBD) with four replications. Seven growth regulators with different brand names such as Bionik, Litosen, Okozim, Mirakulan, Planovit, Flora and Yield were used in the experiment. All the yield contributing characters increased due to the application of growth regulators over the control. The highest seed yield (2.91g/plant) was obtained with Bionik which was followed by Mirakulan> Okozim> Litosen> Planovit> Yield> Flora> control. The highest of 33.49% seed yield was found in Bionik over control.  In terms of quality of seeds, the plant growth regulator `Bionik’ performed the best.The Agriculturists 2017; 15(2) 115-121

To improve the yield of sesame in Mekong delta of Vietnam, the study was conducted to find out plant growth regulator, micronutrient to increase growth and yield of black sesame. The experiment consisted of six treatments (NT) as follows: NT1: Control as no plant growth regulators and micronutrients, NT2: Spraying brassinolide at 50ppm, NT3: Spraying gibberellin at 100ppm and manganese at 0.05%, NT4: Spraying brassinolide at 1.25ppm, NT5: Spraying boric at 50ppm and molybdenum at 50ppm, NT6: Spraying selenium at 4ppm. The results showed that spraying plant growth regulators and micronutrients as single NAA, BR, Se and combined GA3 plus manganese, boric plus molybdenum at 27 and 35 days after sowing have not increased plant height and height to the first fruit in the first crop. Combination of spraying boric plus molybdenum or single selenium increased the number of capsules per plant, the number of seeds per capsule and resulted in higher sesame yield.

The experiment was conducted at the Horticultural research field of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Agricultural University, Salna, Gazipur during October 2008 to July 2009 to investigate the effect of plant growth regulators on flower and bulb production of Hippeastrum. There were ten treatments comprising of three concentrations of three growth regulators viz., IAA (20, 60 and 100 ppm), ethrel (100, 300 and 500 ppm) and GA3 (100, 300 and 500 ppm) along with control (soaked in water). The experiment was laid out in a Randomized Complete Block Design (RCBD) with three replications. Flower and bulb characteristics of Hippeastrum were influenced significantly by different levels of growth regulators. Application of IAA at 60 and 100 ppm and GA3 at 100, 300 or 500 ppm twice as foliar spray at an interval of 30 days promoted the number of bulblets on the treated plants. Ethrel at a concentration of 100 ppm increased the number of flowers per scape (4) and showed earliness in days to flower scape emergence (72.33 days) and first flower open (88.67 days). On the other hand, the biggest size of flower (15.14 cm x 12.44 cm) and flower scape (40.28 cm x 21.95cm) at harvest and the maximum days for flowering (11.50 days) were evident from plants treated with 500 ppm GA3. The highest number of bulblets per plot (40.00), bulbs weight per plot (4056 g) along with bulb yield (40.56 t/ha) were also obtained in GA3 at 500 ppm.Bangladesh J. Agril. The objective of the present work was to evaluate the effect of plant growth regulators (PGR) on the vegetative development and productivity of Jatropha curcas plants. A field experiment was conducted at the Goiás State University, Brazil, using two-year-old J. curcas plants planted with spacing of 3 × 2 m, using foliar applications of two PGR—trinexapac-ethyl and prohexadione-Ca. A randomized block design was used with four treatments (trinexapac-ethyl at 1 ml plant-1—T1; prohexadione-Ca at 2 mg plant-1—T2; trinexapac-ethyl at 1 ml plant-1 plus prohexadione-Ca at 2 mg plant-1—T3; and Control—T4), five replications, and plots consisting of two plants. Two applications of a 300 ml plant-1 solution with the treatments were performed with a 30-day interval after the leaf emergence period (late September and October 2017). The trinexapac-ethyl and prohexadione-Ca plant growth regulators increased the grain yield of Jatropha curcas plants by increasing their vegetative growth, and number of inflorescences, and female and hermaphrodite flowers, but had no effect on the uniformity of fruit maturation. The treatment in which both plant growth regulators were used presented the best results, generating more vigorous and productive plants.

A field study was conceded to assess the effect of plant growth regulators on growth and quality flower production of chrysanthemum at Horticulture Research Centre (HRC), Gazipur, Bangladesh. The experiment was laid out in Randomized Complete Block Design (RCBD) with ten (10) treatments and three replications. The treatments of plant growth regulators concentration were T1-50 ppm GA3, T2-100 ppm GA3, T3-150 ppm GA3, T4-400 ppm CCC, T5-600 ppm CCC, T6-800 ppm CCC, T7-250 ppm MH, T8-500 ppm MH, T9-750 ppm MH and, T10-Control. The maximum spreading of plant (27.0 cm) was observed when plants were treated with GA3 @ 150 ppm where the minimum plant spread (16.8 cm) was recorded in plants treated with CCC @ 800 ppm. The higher number of suckers (33) per pot was produced when pots were treated with GA3 @ 150 ppm whereas, application of CCC at three different concentrations produced lower number of suckers.  The highest number of flower (40) was recorded with 150 ppm GA3, where minimum number of flowers (25) per pot in 800 ppm CCC. The plants sprayed with 50 ppm GA3 took 48 days to flower initiation, whereas, it took 70 days with 750 ppm MH. the highest plants recorded (7.40 cm) with 800 ppm CCC, whereas, lowest size (6.50 cm) was obtained with the application of 500 ppm MH. The maximum vase life of flowers was recorded for the treatment 800 ppm CCC (15 days), which was at par with 13 days vase life obtained by spraying 600 ppm CCC. Therefore, it is concluded that the GA3 acted as growth promoter and the CCC acted as growth retardants on yield and quality of chrysanthemum.

Gladiolus is an excellent cut flower grown throughout the world for its spikes with florets of massive form, brilliant colours, attractive shapes, varying size and long shelf life. However, major constraint for gladiolus cultivation is the corm dormancy. Plant growth regulators (PGRs) play an important role in breaking dormancy and promote more number of quality corm and cormel productions in gladiolus. Therefore, an experiment was conducted to study the influence of corm size and plant growth regulators on corm and cormel production of gladiolus during the period from October 2017 to April 2018 at the Landscaping section of the Department of Horticulture, Bangladesh Agricultural University, Mymensingh. The two-factor experiment included two corm sizes viz., 3-4 cm and 4.1-5 cm, and two PGRs viz., GA3 @ 250, 500 and 750 ppm; and NAA @ 100, 200 and 300 ppm along with tap water as control. The experiment was laid out in a randomised complete block design (RCBD) with three replications. The results revealed that the corm size and PGRs at different concentrations significantly influenced the corm and cormel producing attributes of gladiolus. Maximum number of corms and cormels per plant, maximum weight of single corm, maximum weight of corms and cormels per plant, biggest size of single corm, highest yield of corms and cormels per hectare were recorded from 4.1-5 cm sized corms and GA3 @ 500 ppm, compared to rest of the treatments. It was observed that combined treatments had significant influence on all the parameters studied. The treatment combination of 4.1-5 cm sized corms and GA3 @ 500 ppm was found to be best in terms of corm and cormel production of gladiolus.Progressive Agriculture 29 (2): 91-98, 2018
