We describe the method of representation the aerodynamic torque in problems of mathematical modeling uncontrolled attitude motion of spacecraft Progress. The components of the torque are calculated in the nodes of the grid on the two-dimensional sphere. The calculations were based on the detailed geometric model of the spacecraft external surface. The found arrays of torque data were approximated by the segments of the Fourier series by spherical functions up to the order (8,8) inclusive. These approximations are used in the equations of attitude motion of the spacecraft. We describe the use of such equations in reconstruction of the motion of spacecraft Progress MS-07, MS-08 in the gravitational orientation mode by measurements of their angular rates and in the prognosis of electric charge from the solar arrays of the spacecraft in the mode of its single-axis solar orientation.

The paper presents the opportunities to apply computer graphics in an object floodlighting design process and in an analysis of object illumination. The course of object floodlighting design has been defined based on a virtual three-dimensional geometric model. The problems related to carrying out the analysis of lighting, calculating the average illuminance, luminance levels and determining the illuminated object surface area are also described. These parameters are directly tied with the calculations of the Floodlighting Utilisation Factor, and therefore, with the energy efficiency of the design as well as the aspects of light pollution of the natural environment. The paper shows how high an impact of the geometric model of the object has on the accuracy of photometric calculations. Very often the model contains the components that should not be taken into account in the photometric calculations. The research on what influence the purity of the geometric mesh of the illuminated object has on the obtained results is presented. It shows that the errors can be significant, but it is possible to optimise the 3D object model appropriately in order to receive the precise results. For the example object presented in this paper, removing the planes that do not constitute its external surface has caused a two-fold increase in the average illuminance and average luminance. This is dangerous because a designer who wants to achieve a specific average luminance level in their design without optimizing the model will obtain the luminance values that will actually be much higher.

The objective of this article is to derive an analytical solution for a two-dimensional temperature field in a hollow cylinder, which is subjected to a periodic boundary condition at the outer surface, while the inner surface is insulated. The material is assumed to be homogeneous and isotropic with time-independent thermal properties. Because of the time-dependent term in the boundary condition, Duhamel's theorem is used to solve the problem for a periodic boundary condition. The periodic boundary condition is decomposed using the Fourier series. This condition is simulated with harmonic oscillation; however, there are some differences with the real situation. To solve this problem, first of all the boundary condition is assumed to be steady. By applying the method of separation of variables, the temperature distribution in a hollow cylinder can be obtained. Then, the boundary condition is assumed to be transient. In both these cases, the solutions are separately calculated. By using Duhamel's theorem, the temperature distribution field in a hollow cylinder is obtained. The final result is plotted with respect to the Biot and Fourier numbers. There is good agreement between the results of the proposed method and those reported by others for this geometry under a simple harmonic boundary condition.

Abstract Recently, there is an increasing interest in design of circular weft jacquard because of the pursuit of fashion and comfort. Aiming at the complexity of the computer-aided design method of the existing circular weft-knitted jacquard fabrics, which is not conducive to the rapid design and intelligible for designers, a design method was proposed to transform pattern notation into knitting diagram efficiently, which was based on knitting rules and its creation as a set of jacquard modules. Knitting characteristics of jacquard fabrics were studied as a precondition. On this basis, the design procedures of jacquard modules were analyzed and illustrated by taking tricolor bird's eye backing jacquard as an example. Jacquard modules with various jacquard effects were designed and stored in a jacquard module database. To mathematically describe pattern notation, knitting diagram, and jacquard module, two-dimensional matrixes were established by the method of mathematical modeling, and a corresponding algorithm for the transformation of the pattern to knitting information according to the knitting rules of jacquard modules, which can be applied to ordinary jacquard fabrics was summarized. The project of tricolor circular weft-knitted jacquard with bird's eye in the reverse and four-color air-layer jacquard were taken for instance to verify the models and algorithm. The results obtained show that the approach can efficiently and conveniently realize the designation and machine-knitting of weft-knitted jacquard fabric, which provide a theoretical basis and notation of modeling for the computer-aided design of circular weft-knitted jacquard fabrics.

A two-dimensional (2D) surface can be considered as three-dimensional (3D) shell whose thickness is negligible in comparison with the dimension of the whole system. The quantum mechanics on surface can be first formulated in the bulk and the limit of vanishing thickness is then taken. The gradient operator and the Laplace operator originally defined in bulk converges to the geometric ones on the surface, and the so-called geometric momentum and geometric potential are obtained. On the surface of 2D sphere the geometric momentum in the Monge parametrization is explicitly explored. Dirac's theory on second-class constrained motion is resorted to for accounting for the commutator [xi, pj] = iℏ(δij - xixj/r2) rather than [xi, pj] = iℏδij that does not hold true anymore. This geometric momentum is geometric invariant under parameters transformation, and self-adjoint.

Here we consider the initial-boundary value problems in a homogeneous cylindrical domain YI Ω ×+ ( Ω+ is an open two-dimensional bounded simply connected domain with a boundary 5 ∂Ω ∈C , 2 \ Ω≡ Ω − + R is the open exterior of the domain Ω+ , [0, ] YI ≡ Y is the height of the cylinder) on a time interval [0, ] TI ≡ T . The initial conditions and the boundary conditions on the bases of the cylinder are zero, and the boundary conditions on the lateral surface of the cylinder are given by the function 1 2 wx x yt ( , , ,) ( 1 2 (, ) x x ∈∂Ω , Y y ∈ I , T t I ∈ ). An approximate solution of such problems is obtained through the combined use of the Fourier method and the collocation boundary element method based on piecewise quadratic interpolation (PQI). The solution to the problem in the cylinder is expanded in a Fourier series in terms of eigenfunctions of the operator 2 By yy ≡ ∂ with the corresponding zero boundary conditions. The coefficients of such a Fourier series are solutions of problems for two-dimensional heat equations 2 2 t ∇ =∂ + u u ku . With a low smoothness of the functions w in the variable y, the weight of solutions at large values of k increases and the accuracy of solving the problem in the cylinder decreases. To maintain accuracy on a uniform grid, the step of discretization of the boundary function w with respect to the variable y is decreased by a factor of j. Here j is an averaged value of the quantity Y k π depending on the function w. In addition, the steps of discretization of functions ( ) 2 exp − τ k with respect to the variable τ in domains τ≤πT k are reduced by a factor of 2 2 k π . The steps in the remaining ranges of values τ and the steps by the other variables remain unchanged. The approximate solutions obtained on the basis of this procedure converge stably to exact solutions in the 2 ( ) LI I Y T × -norm with a cubic velocity uniformly with respect to sets of functions w, bounded by norm of functions with low smoothness in the variable y, uniformly along the length of the generatrix of the cylinder Y , and uniformly in the domain Ω . The latter is also associated with the use of PQI along the curve ∂Ω over the variable 2 2 ρ≡ − r d , which is carried out at small values of r ( d and r are the distances from the observed point of the domain Ω to the boundary ∂Ω and to the current point of integration along ∂Ω , respectively). The theoretical conclusions are confirmed by the results of the numerical solution of the problem in a circular cylinder, where the dependence of the boundary functions w on y is given by the normalized eigenfunctions of the differential operator By which vary in a sufficiently large range of values of k .
