Objective: According to the manufacture, fewer than 1 in 10 capsule associated with overdentures on natural teeth separated from the denture base during an 8-year clinical trial; more interestingly, none experience loss of magnetic attraction.Methods: A 50 year old female patient came to Dental Hospital Makassar Hasanuddin University wanted to fix a loose denture, which has been used for 9 years. Chief complaint was a mobile mandibular denture. Treatment for the restoration of oral function, including mastication, using mandibular implant-retained overdenture with magnets in total edentulous. Implant supported retained with magnetic attachment constitute an accurate and predictable treatment option and achieve a higher patients satisfaction.Results: The surface of both magnet and attachment keeper were coated with titanium nitride (TiN). Self-curing resin was used for luting between  magnets and denture base resin.Conclusion: Magnetic attachments can be used to retain mandibular implant overdenture.Key words: Implant supported overdenture with magnets, resorbed alveolar ridge, total edentulous

Background:  Magnetic attachment can be used as  a retentive devices in overdenture technique in prostheses. The magnets are attached with remaining root structure transfer the occlusal load to the bone through the periodontal ligament of retained roots and then prevent resorption of the  alveolar ridge. Alvelar ridge plays an important role for the retention and stability of the denture as they will support the denture base. Magnetic assembly consist of magnet and coping with a keeper on the remaining tooth structure  since magnetic attachment can provide support, stability and retention. Purpose: The purpose of this case report was to report magnetic attachment retained complete overdenture design and fabrication as a preserve to alveolar bone height to achieve retention and stability of the denture.  Case: A 69 years old female patient, a baker and private English teacher with partial edentulous ridge came to Dental Hospital of Airlangga University asked for dentures. Clinical examination shown a complete edentulous in the upper jaw and partial edentulous in the lower jaw. The remaining teeth were 33, 34, 35, 43 and 44. 33 and 35 are chronic gangrene radix, 35 shown a slightly mobility. 34 non vital, 44 and 45 are vital with moderate resorption. Case management : All the left teeth in the lower jaw were consulted for endodontic treatment. Magnetic attachment retained complete overdenture was choosen for the lower jaw and complete denture for the upper jaw. The remaining teeth in the lower jaw kept the alveolar ridge from resorption and the magnet provided extra retention for the complete overdenture. Discussion: Overdentures supported by magnet attachment achieved greater satisfaction, gives better retention  and stability for the denture. On the other side, the natural abutment teeth in overdentures  preserved  better proprioception and psychologically beneficial as the patient had not undergone extraction. As a conclusion, overdenture supported by magnetic attachment can be used to increase support, retention and stability especially in the lower jaw and also  prevent further alveolar ridge resorption. Conclusion: Overdenture supported by magnetic attachment can be used to increase retention and the residual root also prevent further alveolar ridge resorption.

The goal of modern dentistry is to be conservative, preserving teeth but also maintaining the stability of the remaining alveolar ridge and the periodontium's proprioceptive capabilities. Cu-sil denture is the simplest approach in the preservation of teeth and maintaining proprioception. It is a type of transitional denture that provides an alternative treatment plan for the patients willing to replace their missing teeth while retaining their remaining natural teeth. It gives potential psychological benefits to the patients by avoiding extractions. It's a tissue-bearing acrylic appliance with a soft viscoelastic wrap that clasps the neck of each dentition, sealing out food and water simultaneously protecting and splinting each remaining tooth from the rigid acrylic denture base. This case reports series describes chairside techniques to fabricate Cu-sil dentures in the usual dental set-up

AbstractSeveral difficulties are encountered in providing a successful, single complete denture treatment. This case report deals with successful rehabilitation of completely resorbed mandibular ridge opposing a full complement of natural teeth prosthetically incorporating metal denture base in place of the conventional Poly Methyl Methacrylate material to combat the masticatory forces from natural dentition and improve the longevity of the prosthetic rehabilitation, at the same time improving the strength of the mandibular denture base.

The present prime concern in dentistry is on preservation of remaining natural teeth. Presence of few teeth in oral cavity help in preserving alveolar ridge integrity, maintain the proprioception, and gives psychological benefit to the patient. Overdenture has proven to be the mainstay of conservative prosthodontic treatment when proper diagnosis, treatment planning, and most importantly, patient compliance are achieved. This paper presents a case report of rehabilitation of a 65 year old patient with multiple missing teeth with tooth supported overdenture in both maxilla and mandible.

<p class="abstract">According to De Van, the preservation of what remains is of utmost importance rather than the meticulous replacement of what has been lost. Need based use of unconventional approach is a growing demand in prosthodontics in India. The increasing demands of the patients have led to innovative techniques for fabricating complete dentures. Conventional techniques may provide satisfactory results in most patients but may not be suitable in all cases. Cu-sil denture is one of the transitional dentures which is easy to fabricate, saves time as well as reduces the cost of treatment. These dentures provide a psychological boost to the patients and serve as a viable alternative. They not only promote the alveolar ridge integrity but also help in retaining the proprioceptive ability of the periodontium. This paper presents a case of fabrication of Cu-sil denture in a patient with two teeth remaining in the maxillary arch.</p>

ABSTRACT Over denture is favoured treatment modality for an elderly patient with few remaining teeth, because of adaptation to wearing is facilitated. Roots maintained under the denture base preserve the alveolar ridge, provide sensory feedback and improve the stability of the dentures. In comparison with complete dentures, overdentures may provide better functions. The most common problem of mandibular complete denture is retention & stability and alveolar ridge resorption; hence care must be taken to preserve it.

Background: One of the most common aesthetic problems is discoloration and central diastema of the anterior teeth. This can make the patient's appearance disturbed and can lead to confidence in influential patients in the complex interaction of social, cultural and psychological disorders. Purpose: The purpose of this case report is to explain the management of white spot on central incisive with central diastema. Case: A 22 years old woman came to Airlangga Dental Hospital with a chief complaint of shyness and lack of confidence due to some white spot and gap on the two central front teeth. Management: The treatment of white spot and central diastema were done using a partial direct veneer technique. Conclusion: White spot and central diastema treated with partial direct veneer restoration is able to produce good aesthetic results.

Cu-Sil denture is a simplified approach which helps in preserving the few remaining natural teeth .It is a new type of transitional denture which clasps the neck of the tooth providing space for the remaining teeth to emerge into the oral cavity through the denture. Preserving the remaining teeth not only preserves the alveolar ridge but also maintains proprioception providing psychological benefit for the patient. Cu-Sil denture is one such simpler clinical approach which offers many advantages. This case report represents a simple chair-side clinical approach to fabricate Cu-Sil denture by preserving the few natural teeth. Key words: Cu-Sil denture, transitional denture, proprioception.

ABSTRACT A basic concern of edentulous patients is retention of their dentures. This has led to considerable experimentation and research in efforts to perfect dentures that compensate for the loss of natural teeth. The use of multiple miniature suction cups made from a soft material lining the denture satisfies the requirements of retention and stability. A technique describing the fabrication of a maxillary and mandibular multicup dentures which are more beneficial than conventional complete dentures is discussed below with case report.

Abstract Various implant-supported restorations have been used successfully for several decades to rehabilitate edentulous patients. Telescopic crowns are a common treatment modality used to connect dentures to natural teeth. Although previous findings indicate that telescopic crowns can be placed successfully on implants to support overdentures, only limited data are available on this treatment approach. Eight months after extraction of all nonsalvageable teeth and socket preservation, 11 implants were inserted into the mandible and maxillae of one patient. These implants were restored 4 months later using telescopic crown–supported dentures. Bleeding on probing (BOP), plaque index (PI), clinical attachment (PAL), and radiographic bone level were evaluated over 5 years. All implants remained in function over the 5-year evaluation period. Radiography showed stable bone levels for all implants. No changes in BOP or PI (range, 2%–4% for both parameters) were observed over this time. The PAL deteriorated by 1.5 mm during the first 3 years, with no subsequent changes. We conclude that telescopic crowns can be used successfully as attachments for overdentures supported by implants in regenerated bone.
