New first derivative ratio spectrophotometric method was developed for simultaneous estimation of telmisartan hydrochloride (TELM) and hydrochlorothiazide (HCTZ) in combined tablet dosage form without prior separation. The amplitude in the first derivative of the corresponding ratio spectra at 263.2 nm and 278.4 nm of TELM and for HCTZ at 287.2 nm and 304.8 nm were selected for the determination. The calibration graphs were established in the range of 1-10μg/mL and 2-15 μg/mL of TELM and HCTZ, respectively. The percentage recoveries of binary mixture of TELM were found to be 97.81±1.05 (263.2nm) and 96.60±1.91 (278.4nm) and for HCTZ were found to be 97.47±1.41 (287.2), 98.16± 1.45 (304.8nm) by proposed method. This method was successfully applied for the analysis of commercial tablet formulation, with no interference from excipients as indicated by the recovery study results. The proposed method was validated, statistically analyzed, compared with reported HPLC method and can be successfully applied for the routine analysis.

A simple, sensitive and economical spectrophotometric method has been developed for the determination of zidovudine in commercial dosage forms. The method was based on the formation of chloroform extractable complex of zidovudine with wool fast blue. The absorbance of the extractable ion pair complex is measured at the wavelength of maximum absorbance 590 nm against the reagent blank treated similarly. Statistical analysis proves that the proposed methods are reproducible and selective for the estimation of zidovudine in bulk drug and in its tablet dosage form.

Three new simple, economic spectrophotometric methods were developed and validated for the estimation of nabumetone in bulk and tablet dosage form. First method includes determination of nabumetone at absorption maxima 330 nm, second method applied was area under curve for analysis of nabumetone in the wavelength range of 326-334 nm and third method was First order derivative spectra with scaling factor 4. Beer law obeyed in the concentration range of 10-30 μg/mL for all three methods. The correlation coefficients were found to be 0.9997, 0.9998 and 0.9998 by absorption maxima, area under curve and first order derivative spectra. Results of analysis were validated statistically and by performing recovery studies. The mean percent recoveries were found satisfactory for all three methods. The developed methods were also compared statistically using one way ANOVA. The proposed methods have been successfully applied for the estimation of nabumetone in bulk and pharmaceutical tablet dosage form.

Two simple and sensitive spectrophotometric methods have been developed for the estimation of Famciclovir (FCR) in bulk and tablet dosage form. Methods A and B are based on the formation of ion-pair complexes of the drug with dyes such as orange II (OG-II) and alizarin red S (AR-S) in acidic medium followed by their extraction with chloroform to give colored chromogen with absorption maxima at 480 nm and 440 nm respectively. Beer’s law is valid in the concentration range of 2-10 mcg/mL for both the methods. These developed methods were validated for precision, accuracy, ruggedness and robustness. Statistical analysis proves that the methods are reproducible and selective for the routine analysis of the said drug.

Two simple spectrophotometric methods have been developed for the estimation of tadalafil in both pure and tablet dosage form. Methods A and B are based on the formation of ion-pair complexes of the drug with dyes such as bromothymol blue (BTB) and bromocresol green (BCG) in acidic buffer solution followed by their extraction with chloroform to form yellow colored chromogen with absorption maxima at 420 nm and 415 nm respectively. Beer’s law is valid in the concentration range of 10-50 mcg/mL for both the methods. These developed methods were validated for precision, accuracy, ruggedness and robustness. Statistical analysis proves that the methods are reproducible and selective for the routine analysis of the said drug.
