Lean Manufacturing includes an ensemble of methods to analyze and continuously improve the functioning of manufacturing systems. The research presented in the literature highlights the fact that these methods are, on their own, in a process of continuous improvement as tools, being used in different ways, for different production systems. The paper presents an algorithm that facilitates the choice of the performance evaluation method, and the choice of the method of improvement that needs to be implemented for an efficient analysis and for a continuous increase of the manufacturing system performance. In addition to these, for the JobObservation and 5S methods, chartflows are proposed and specific tools are developed (questionnaires, forms etc.) that are meant to facilitate the implementation and to focus (guide) the user in the direction of improvement for the analyzed process. The algorithm, techniques, and tools developed in this research were used in a case study that took place in a production system “plastic injection”. Thus, a series of important improvements were made in the functioning of the production system, consisting of the reduction of production area, decrease of cycle time, decrease of the number of operators, stabilization, standardization, and securing of the work processes. All this has led to the improvement of several key performance indicators (KPIs) of the production system. The analysis of the investment in the reorganization of the production system in relation to the obtained gains shows a payback of approximately 1 month, proving the efficiency of use in such a form of the Lean Manufacturing methods.

Lean technologies are widely used in various industries. Currently, the development of quality management of higher education is facing new challenges, the key of which is to ensure competitiveness and attractiveness for potential students, employers and research customers. In the context of the «struggle» for financing, it is necessary to find internal reserves for development, which is the main result of reducing losses. The application of lean manufacturing methods in education is possible taking into account the adaptation of tools and their consistent implementation, taking into account scientific and practical experience. Activities to optimize the educational process should be carried out taking into account the views of interested parties, such as: teachers, students and employers. The article discusses the application of the principles of lean method and 5S in higher education. The main difficulties in implementation are reflected.

<p>Lean accounting is an approach that supports Lean Manufacturing in a financial concept. It has a different perspective than traditional costing approach and the main key point in lean manufacturing is removing or reducing the wastes in the system. In this study, the aspect of lean accounting was analyzed in a wiring harness production firm which is in an automotive supplier industry. Lean manufacturing methods were applied in the firm and line balancing applications with their results were evaluated in the study based on the lean accounting system.</p>

<p><span style="font-size: medium;"><span lang="IN">PT. XYZ is a company engaged in the sport shoe with the marketing areas inside and outside the country. One of the products produced by PT. XYZ is running shoes. The problems faced by the company is not achieving the production targets because many value-added activity not belonging to the waste (waste). For that use lean manufacturing approach to eliminate waste that occurs on in the production line at PT. XYZ. Lean manufacturing methods used is values stream mapping (VSM) to analyze the dominant waste in the manufacturing process. Based on the analysis we found three recommendations for improvement, namely the use of a forklift, the addition operator and addition of machine. Results of evaluation of recommendation is decreased production lead time equal to 8610.62 sec, increasing the value of Process Cycle Efficiency of 21.08%</span><span>.</span></span></p>
