The objective of this research were to improve students’ writing skill with implementation on 9th grade of SMP Negeri 2 Buduran in the academic year 2019/2020. The research aim to find whether there was any significant effect in learning achievement of writing skill between an ordinary teaching learning with taught by using picture series. The background of this research has been conducted on 9th grade of SMP Negeri 2 Buduran with high significance of students’ score before and after using picture series media. The researcher choose a quantitative method in this research and the result of the test was analyzed using t-test formula and the result was high level it means accurate for the instrument. The students’ mean pre-test and post-test score were showed that there was difference of the score which is increase the students’ writing skill using picture series. The students’ mean pre-test score is (67.66) and the mean post-test score is (81.34).

<p class="16">Covid-19 spurs teachers to carry out online learning. This study aimed to analyze the improvement of students' critical thinking skills through online learning based on Android-based PhET Simulation. This research was Quasi-Experimental using one group pre-test and post-test design involving 27 students of class VIII who program science subjects at MTs Alif Laam Miim Surabaya, Indonesia. The research instrument used critical thinking skills tests that have met valid and reliable requirements. Before and after learning activities, students were given a pre-test and a post-test. The data collected was analyzed descriptively quantitatively. The results showed that there was an increase in students' critical thinking skills with an average N-gain of 0.57, in the medium category. The highest N-gain was achieved in the "interpretation" indicator, which is 0.83 in the high category and the lowest in the "analysis" indicator, which is 0.39 in the moderate category. This study concluded that learning science by using an Android-based PhET Simulation can improve the critical thinking skills of junior high school students.</p>

Abstract: The particular study aimed to determine the effectiveness of achievement motivation training (AMT) in increasing the achievement motivation of junior high school students. The study used an interrupted time-series design which conducted on an intact group consisting of eight subjects. Data measurements carried out three times in the pre-test and post-test conditions with six forms of achievement motivation scale. The AMT intervention in the psychoeducation frame consists of two strategies, namely achievement thinking and action strategies which are carried out in 12 sessions. The results showed that there is a difference between achievement motivation scores before and after AMT interventions.Abstrak: Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui keefektifan achievement motivation training (AMT) dalam meningkatkan motivasi berprestasi siswa sekolah menengah pertama (SMP). Penelitian ini menggunakan desain interrupted time series yang dilakukan pada kelompok intak yang terdiri dari delapan subjek. Pengukuran data dilakukan sebanyak tiga kali pada kondisi pre-test dan kondisi post-test dengan enam bentuk skala motivasi berprestasi. Intervensi AMT dalam bingkai psikoedukasi terdiri dari dua strategi yaitu achievement thinking dan action strategies yang dilakukan dalam 12 sesi pertemuan. Hasil menunjukkan terdapat perbedaan antara skor motivasi berprestasi sebelum dan sesudah diberikan intervensi AMT.

United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals 4 Quality Education has highlighted major challenges for all nations to ensure inclusive and equitable quality access to education, facilities for children, and young adults. The SDG4 is even more important for developing nations as receiving proper education or vocational training, especially in science and technology, means a foundational step in improving other aspects of their citizens’ lives. However, the extant scientific literature about STEM education still lacks focus on developing countries, even more so in the rural area. Using a dataset of 4967 observations of junior high school students from a rural area in a transition economy, the article employs the Bayesian approach to identify the interaction between gender, socioeconomic status, and students’ STEM academic achievements. The results report gender has little association with STEM academic achievements; however, female students (αa_Sex[2] = 2.83) appear to have achieved better results than their male counterparts (αa_Sex[1] = 2.68). Families with better economic status, parents with a high level of education (βb(EduMot) = 0.07), or non-manual jobs (αa_SexPJ[4] = 3.25) are found to be correlated with better study results. On the contrary, students with zero (βb(OnlyChi) = -0.14) or more than two siblings (βb(NumberofChi) = -0.01) are correlated with lower study results compared to those with only one sibling. These results imply the importance of providing women with opportunities for better education. Policymakers should also consider maintaining family size so the parents can provide their resources to each child equally.

AbstractIn education, many empirical studies have shown evidence that video games have the potential to improve student learning outcomes, but there is still great controversy in the literature regarding the impact of video game. More evidence is needed to convince educators and researchers regarding the actual value and the efficiency of video game in learning science. The purpose of this study was to examine the use of video game in learning to improve the mastery of concepts about the interaction of living beings and the environment of junior high school students who played the “Selamatkan Dunia Digital!” educational gaming application that has been developed by author in previous studies. This weak experimental study collected pretest and posttest results to determine students' mastery of concepts before and after Intervention. Normalized Gain of the pretest and posttest are assumed to be the effect of the intervention. The results show a low increasing mastery of concept by students who learned by playing game, so this study stated that learning science by using instructional video game media are still not able to facilitate mastery of concept of students.Keywords: interactive media; video game; mastery of conceptsAbstrakDalam dunia pendidikan, banyak penelitian empiris telah berhasil menunjukkan bukti bahwa video game memiliki potensi dalam meningkatkan hasil belajar siswa, tetapi kontroversi besar masih ada pada literatur mengenai pengaruh game yang sebenarnya. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian eksperimen semu, dengan desain The one-Group Prettest-Posttest Design untuk memperoleh gambaran penguasaan konsep siswa sebelum dan sesudah perlakuan. Peningkatan nilai pada pretest dan posttest diasumsikan merupakan efek dari perlakuan. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa peningkatan nilai N-gain rata-rata siswa masih dalam kategori rendah, dan pencapaian skor posttest rata-rata siswa juga masih rendah, sehingga dapat disimpulkan bahwa pembelajaran IPA dengan menggunakan media pembelajaran media video game masih belum dapat memfasilitasi penguasaan konsep IPA siswa pada konsep Interaksi Makhluk Hidup dengan Lingkungan.Kata Kunci: media pembelajaran interaktif; video game; penguasaan konsep Permalink/DOI: http://dx.doi.org/10.15408/es.v8i2.1576

Learning outside the classroom (outdoor study) is an effort to create learning, to avoid boredom and perceptual learning only in class. The approach to learning outside the classroom uses several methods such as assignment, question and answer, and learning while doing or practicing with learning situations while playing. Students get bored quickly with conventional methods. This study aims to determine the effectiveness of pre and post test using the method of learning outdoor study on Communication subjects to increase the learning achievement of Nursing Health Department Vocational High School students totaling 80 students. The design of this study is Quasi Experiment research. Data collection methods that will be used in this study are pre test and post test questionnaires distributed to students of the Nursing Department, before and after the Communication teaching and learning process using outdoor teaching methods and conventional methods. To analyze data using paired T Test. The results obtained are that there is a significance between the pre test and post test of the learning outdoor method, which is 0.00. But the use of conventional methods is not significant with a result of 0.50. Keywords: Learning method, outdoor, conventional

Abstrak Pengabdian kepada masyarakat merupakan bagian integral tri dharma perguruan tinggi yang melibatkan dosen, mahasiswa, dan tenaga kependidikan. Pengabdian kepada masyarakat bertujuan memberikan makna kebermanfaatan keberadaan Program Magister Administrasi Pendidikan kepada sekolah Kasih Immanuel dalam meningkatkan kompetensi mengimplementasikan kurikulum 2013. Populasi seluruh guru SD, SMP, SMA Kasih Immanuel sebanyak 15 orang dan sampel penelitian seluruh guru, namun yang hadir 12 orang. Data diperoleh dengan wawancara mendalam terhadap kepala sekolah dan guru. Selain itu data diperoleh melalui instrumen pre test dan post test. Data dianalisis menggunakan statistik deskriptif. Hasil pengabdian kepada masyarakat menunjukkan: (1) Guru mengajar merangkap di SD, SMP, dan SMA, (2) Guru yang memenuhi standar kualifikasi pendidikan 50%, (3) Guru yang sudah tersertifikasi 25%, dan (4) Pemberian bimbingan teknis implementasi kurikulum 2013 sangat bermanfaat meningkatkan kompetensi pedagogik, personal, sosial dan profesional. Implikasi pengabdian kepada masyarakat guru semakin termotivasi melengkapi rencana pelaksanaan pembelajaran (RPP) dan meningkatkan profesionalitas guru.  Kata kunci: Kompetensi, implementasi, Kurikulum 2013 Abstract Community service is an integral part of the three pillars of higher education that involves lecturers, students, and education staff. Community service aims to give meaning to the usefulness of the existence of the Educational Administration, graduate Program Universitas Kristen Indonesia to the Kasih Immanuel school in improving the competence of implementing the 2013 curriculum. The population of all elementary school, junior high school students is Kasih Immanuel as many as 15 people and a sample of all teachers, but there are 12 people present. Data obtained by in-depth interviews with principals and teachers. In addition, data were obtained through pre-test and post-test instruments. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics. The results of community service show: (1) Teachers teaching concurrently in elementary, middle and high school, (2) Teachers who meet the 50% educational qualification standard, (3) 25% certified teachers, and (4) Providing technical implementation guidance the 2013 curriculum is very useful in increasing pedagogical, personal, social and professional. The implications of service to the teacher community are increasingly motivated to complete the lesson plan and increase teacher professionalism.  Keywords: Competence, implementation, curriculum

The aims of this research are to produce SETS worksheet that can be applied in teaching learning to grow and process skills and scientific attitude for students in Junior High Shcool. The study was a Research and Development (R D ) with students in class VIII SMP N 1 Sewon Bantul as a subject of study. The reseach start form July to November 2015. The study began with a literatature study and field study to obtain information about the problem faced at school, and followed by planning, drafting and validating product by experts. The result shows that SETS worksheet feasible to use in teaching and learning based on the validation result from lecturer, teacher and student response. The SETS Worksheet potential for growing the student's process skills and the scientific attitudeAbstract english version, written using Time New Roman-11, italic. Abstract contain research aim/purpose, method, and reseach results; written in 1 paragraph, single space among rows, using past tense sentences.

This study aimed to determine the factors affecting writing skill quality and the level of their contribution to help language teachers to formulate more effective strategies using CAT to enhance writing skill. The correlating factors discussed in this research were students’ reading comprehension skill, vocabulary mastery, and attitude toward language.  The study applied quantitative approach with simple and multiple correlation and regression techniques. The samples of the study were 100 students taken using stratified random sampling technique from a population of 2000 junior high school students in Surakarta City. The data were collected using multiple choice test for students’ reading comprehension skills and vocabulary mastery, writing assignments, and questionnaires for their attitudes toward the Indonesian language. The findings showed that there are positive correlations between the independent variables, either individually or simultaneously, with writing skill. The individual contribution levels is 44.75% of reading comprehension skill, 27.70% of vocabulary mastery, and 28.5% of attitude toward language. As for the simultaneous correlation of the three determining factors make up to 45.16%. contribution level to writing skill quality. Thus it can be concluded that reading comprehension has the most contribution to writing skill compared to vocabulary mastery and attitude toward language. The identified levels of contribution can be taken into consideration in formulating teaching strategies and materials to enhance writing skill quality.

This study aimed at investigating the effect of Project-Based Learning on students’ writing skill of grade 9 at SMPN 3 Kuta Selatan. This study employed embedded mixed method design, in which the quantitative data were considered as the main data. The data were collected through guided interview, observation, and writing test. Paired sample t-test was used for the quantitative data analysis. The result showed that Project-Based Learning has significant effect on students’ English writing skill (sig. = .000 < α = .05). Project-Based Learning also revealed potentially promotes students’ critical thinking, communication, and creativity through collaborative work. In general, it can be concluded that Project-Based Learning significantly improves junior high school students’ writing skill in English as a Foreign Language.

AbstrakPenelitian ini dilatar belakangi oleh kurangnya kesempatan siswa untuk berbicara saat pembelajaran bahasa Jepang. Setengah dari sampel menyatakan bahwa selama ini kurang mendapatkan kesempatan berbicara bahasa Jepang dalam pembelajaran bahasa Jepang. Padahal saat ini siswa dituntut untuk dapat berbicara dan berkomunikasi secara global. Dan kemampuan berbicara adalah implementasi dari materi-materi pelajaran bahasa Jepang yang telah dipelajari. Untuk mengatasi masalah tersebut, peneliti mengujicobakan metode cooperative learning tipe inside-outside circle dalam pembelajaran bahasa Jepang terhadap siswa XII IPA 2 SMA Pasundan 2 Bandung. Tujuan dari dilaksanakannya pembelajaran dengan metode ini adalah agar siswa mampu untuk berbicara dengan bahasa Jepang secara aktif dan menguji efektivitas dari metode tersebut.Penelitian ini menggunakan metode eksperimen kuasi (pre-test and post-test one group). Teknik pengambilan sampling dengan cara random sampling. Populasi dalam penelitian ini adalah seluruh siswa SMA Pasundan 2 Bandung dan sampelnya adalah 16 orang siswa kelas XII IPA 2 sebagai kelas eksperimen. Instrumen dalam penelitian ini adalah tes dan angket.Dari hasil analisa data tes diperoleh nilai t-hitung sebesar 4,205. Dan dengan db 15 pada tahap signifikansi 5% diperoleh t-tabel sebesar 2,13 dan signifikansi 1% diperoleh t-tabel  sebesar 2,95. Karena nilai t-hitung  >  t-tabel , maka Hk diterima.  Hal tersebut berarti terdapat perbedaan yang signifikan pada kemampuan berbicara siswa sebelum dan sesudah diterapkannya metode cooperative learning tipe inside-outside circle. Hal tersebut diperkuat dengan hasil angket yang menyatakan bahwa lebih dari setengah responden merasakan pengaruh penerapan metode cooperative learning tipe inside-outside circle terhadap kemampuan berbicara bahasa Jepang. Keyword: kemampuan berbicara, metode cooperative learning tipe inside-outside circleAbstractThis research was motivated by the lack of opportunity to speak Japanese during the class. 50% of the sample stated that they are have a small opportunity to speak Japanese during learning Japanese. Yet, in this time students are required to be able to talk and communicate globally. And the ability to speak is the implementation of Japanese language lessons. To overcome these problems, researcher tested the method of cooperative learning type of inside-outside circle in learning the Japanese language to students XII IPA 2 SMA Pasundan 2 Bandung. The purpose of the implementation of learning with this method is the students are able to speak japanese actively and to test the effectiveness of the method. This research uses a quasi experimental (pre-test and post-test one group). Sampling technique by means of random sampling. The population in this study were all high school students of SMA Pasundan 2 Bandung and the sample was 16 students of class XII IPA 2 as the experimental class. Instruments for this research is a test and questionnaire. From the analysis of obtained data, value t-count of 4,205. And with 15 db at this stage of the 5% significance was obtained t-table by 2.13 and 1% significance obtained t-table by 2.95. Because the value of t count> t-table, then Hk accepted. This means that there are significant differences in their speaking ability before and after the implementation of cooperative learning type of inside-outside circle. This is reinforced by the results of a questionnaire which states that more than half of the respondents feel the effect of the application of cooperative learning type of inside-outside circle of the ability to speak Japanese. Keyword: speaking ability, cooperative learning method type of inside-outside circle
