Abstract: Language transfer always becomes an interesting topic to discuss in SLA. From the two types of language transfer take place in the process of language learning, this research aims to investigate the positive transfer occurs in junior high school students’ writing skill. The two languages to be involved in this research, Indonesian as L1 and English as L2. The analysis of the positive transfer within writing skill in this research is carried out under the theory of ‘Linguistic Interdependence Hypothesis’ proposed by Cummins. Correlational research design is employed to analyze the correlation between the students’ L1 (Indonesian) writing ability and L2 (English) writing ability. The analysis result shows that the positive transfer in students’ writing does not exist. This happens due to the lack of exposure that the students have in practicing L2 (English) writing.

This study aimed at finding out the effect of Project-Based Learning on students’ writing skill of grade 9 at SMPN 1 Tembuku. This study empplied embedded mixed method design, in which the quantitative data were considered as the main data. The data were collected through guided interview, observation, open-ended questionnaire, and writing test. Paired-sample t-test was used to analyze whether or not there is a significant difference in students’ writing skill before and after being taught using PBL, and Manova was used to To analyze how project-based learning affected students’ writing skill in term of content, organization, structure, vocabulary, and mechanic. While the qualitative data were analyzed descriptively. The result showed that Project-Based Learning has significant effect on students’ English writing skill and it also affected the students’ writing skill in term of content, organization, structure, vocabulary, and mechanic (sig. = .000 < α = . 05). Project-Based Learning also revealed potentially promotes students’ critical thinking, creativity, collaborative work, and enhances teacher’s satisfaction in teaching . Abstract: The purpose of this study is to improve the creative thinking skills and mathematical communication of VII grade junior high school students by applying the Project Based Learning (PjBL) learning model and to find out whether students 'creative thinking skills have a positive correlation with students' mathematical communication skill. This research was conducted at SMP XYZ in Bogor. The activities in this learning process are designing mathematics board games. Mix method as the research methodology that is used with data collection techniques by interviewing 5 respondents, questionnaires and observations. Qualitative analysis is done by triangulation. Whereas for quanitative analysis using data obtained from the rubric instrument of creative thinking skills and mathematical communication indicators. The implementation of PjBL could improve students' creative thinking skills and mathematical communication. This study aimed to determine the factors affecting writing skill quality and the level of their contribution to help language teachers to formulate more effective strategies using CAT to enhance writing skill. The correlating factors discussed in this research were students’ reading comprehension skill, vocabulary mastery, and attitude toward language. The study applied quantitative approach with simple and multiple correlation and regression techniques. The samples of the study were 100 students taken using stratified random sampling technique from a population of 2000 junior high school students in Surakarta City. The data were collected using multiple choice test for students’ reading comprehension skills and vocabulary mastery, writing assignments, and questionnaires for their attitudes toward the Indonesian language. The findings showed that there are positive correlations between the independent variables, either individually or simultaneously, with writing skill. The individual contribution levels is 44.75% of reading comprehension skill, 27.70% of vocabulary mastery, and 28.5% of attitude toward language. As for the simultaneous correlation of the three determining factors make up to 45.16%. contribution level to writing skill quality. Thus it can be concluded that reading comprehension has the most contribution to writing skill compared to vocabulary mastery and attitude toward language. The identified levels of contribution can be taken into consideration in formulating teaching strategies and materials to enhance writing skill quality.

AbstrakKemampuan literasi statistis siswa sekolah menengah pertama masih rendah. Enhancing Statistical Literacy Abilities through Modified Project-Based LearningAbstractThe statistical literacy ability of junior high school students is still low. One way to improve this ability is by innovating the applied learning model. Regarding the increase in statistical literacy skills, a modified project-based learning model is applied. The method in this study is a quasi-experimental method with a research instrument about test questions in the form of indicators of statistical literacy. The research subjects of class VIII students at the Tsanawiyah Madrasah were 36 students. The results of the study are that there are significant differences in statistical literacy skills between students who receive a project-based learning model modified by the expository learning model. The modified project-based learning model can be used as an alternative learning model for improving statistical literacy skills.
