The enterprise is an organization that reconciles the workforce, real capital, techniques, information and knowledge to produce and service. The enterprise cannot control or have any impact on the environment that it`s surrounded by, only to adjust to it. Despite that, enterprises can be specialized in a special market segment, yet it will be subject to competitive pressure. Furniture Manufacturing Tefik Canga Design has taken over the use of natural and unnatural resources to promote the development and growth, or to solve financial and operational problems. With this research, we propose a growth model of a manufacturing enterprise in relation to the business environment. Implementation of the case is described and the profitability and productivity performance is analyzed using five years of historical data product. Therefore, by this study is expected to achieve results, that will improve the input-output relationship in order to increase the firm's productivity, increase the value of employees and create opportunities for development in order to cut production costs.

Tourism seasonality negatively affects hotels’ operational and financial performance and then survival probabilities. Several studies have evaluated the impact of tourism seasonality on hotels’ exit risk. However, the empirical findings are ambiguous, probably due to the overall seasonality and different measures used in these studies. Against this background, this study explores the impact of tourism seasonality on hotel firms’ exit risk, using a proportional hazards model. We controlled for financial ratios, the main factors influencing the exit risk, and used two measures of tourism seasonality by market segment, namely, leisure, business, and conference tourism. The case study is the Norwegian hotel industry. The empirical results suggest that the different seasonal patterns of tourism demand in the market segments mitigate the impact of the overall seasonality on hotels’ exit risk, and that seasonality measures of various tourism segments affect the exit risk in different ways.

AbstractThe 16 April 2016 earthquake in Ecuador exposed the significant weaknesses concerning the methodological designs to compute—from an economic standpoint—the consequences of a natural hazard-related disaster for productive exchanges and the accumulation of capital in Ecuador. This study addressed one of these challenges with an innovative ex ante model to measure the partial and net short-term effects of a natural hazard-related catastrophe from an interregional perspective, with the 16 April 2016 earthquake serving as a case study. In general, the specified and estimated model follows the approach of the extended Miyazawa model, which endogenizes consumption demand in a standard input–output model with the subnational interrelations and resulting multipliers. Due to the country’s limitations in its regional account records the input–output matrices for each province of Ecuador had to be estimated, which then allowed transactions carried out between any two sectors within or outside a given province to be identified by means of the RAS method. The estimations provide evidence that the net short-term impact on the national accounts was not significant, and under some of the simulated scenarios, based on the official information with respect to earthquake management, the impact may even have had a positive effect on the growth of the national product during 2016.

Sales Funnel Management (SFM) as a part of the Customer Relationship Management (CRM) is of great importance in the automotive industry when the companies want to attract new customers and retain the existing ones. Due to the complex and changing business environment customers are becoming more and more demanding and less loyal to their current brands. Existing research has shown that IT/IS play a crucial role throughout the execution of the CRM activities. However, the mere existence of an IS in a company is not enough. The ability and willingness of companies to use these IS in a sufficient manner plays a key role in the success and failure of CRM activities. Therefore, the objective of the article is to show how the role of the IS impacts on the effectiveness of the SFM through conducting a case study analysis in a leading German automotive company. The results show that IS has an important impact on improvements in execution of all phases of SFM and importantly contributes to primary goals and measures of effectiveness of the SFM in the automotive company, which are the increased number of vehicles sold and the lowest possible cost per vehicle sold, as well as higher level of customer satisfaction.

Tajikistan has formulated the strategy to rejuvenate the country through hydropower. The Rogun hydropower plant (HPP) is designed as the highest hydropower station, while its sustainability is also questioned due to a lack of comprehensive sustainability evaluation. Considering that the external environment of Rogun HPP is complex and changeable, its sustainable performance will be fragile and inconstant. To comprehensively assess the sustainable performance, an integrated evaluation framework, covering the current and dynamic sustainable performance, is urgently established. Therefore, this paper firstly explored the hydropower sustainability assessment indicators which can conform to Tajikistan’s situations and further examined the current sustainable performance of Rogun HPP. The case study found that Rogun HPP’s current financial viability, involuntary resettlement, the measures to prevent corruption, and information disclosure were seriously deficient. The SWOT analysis indicated the external factors, such as the Belt and Road Initiative, improving business environment, and easing geopolitical disputes, can eliminate weaknesses and improve the sustainable performance of Rogun HPP. At the same time, tight fiscal allocations and economic downturns will have negative influences on the sustainable performance. The integrated evaluation tool established in this paper can not only evaluate the current sustainable performance but also consider the impact of external factors on sustainable performance from a dynamic perspective. This paper contributes to the current knowledge system by establishing the hydropower sustainability assessment system which is suitable for Tajikistan’s conditions. Moreover, the results are informative for the decision-makers to have a better understanding of Rogun HPP’s current strengths and weaknesses, valuable opportunities, and potential threats.

One of the main characteristics of current business environment is related to internationalization of companies and economies, where competitors from different countries with diverse cultures and production factors, easily clash for a position of supremacy in the markets. Thus, internationalization turned the management of organizations in a more complex act, increasing opportunities but also the risks of the business. As such, this paper aims to reflect on the main issues associated with companies' internationalization and the impact on their management process, in particular on financial performance and in organizational changes. In addition, we intend to conduct a case study of a Portuguese company of information technology industry that through its internationalization strategy, managed in less than a decade, to increment the turnover from 10 million to 60 million euros, becoming one of the largest Portuguese groups in the sector and a worldwide success.

CRM helps you to understand, anticipate and respond to your customers’ needs and react in a consistent way. The paper analyses how organization use CRM as a technique to gain business distinction.

AbstractThis article examines how foreign direct investments influence the performance and entrepreneurship of domestic firms, a crucial question for economies – especially transition economies – driven by the incursion of global, exogenous factors. This research uses a qualitative research methodology, and specifically a case study method. The country in question is Macedonia, a Southeast European economy. Further, the study is interested in the way foreign direct investments shape the overall business environment. Overall, the results point to the influence of foreign firms in assisting business activity. The impact of foreign investment is, in general, positive, and tends to influence the restructuring process of domestic economy.

The paper discusses a two-channel impact of pharmaceutical companies upon the economy and public finance. Firstly, pharmaceutical companies predominantly impact the net value added, employment, income of people employed by their suppliers and customers as well as public finance revenue in the countries where they are based. The mechanisms of such an influence are presented in the input-output matrix (input-output analysis) that shows how output from one industrial sector in the economy may become an input to another industrial sector. The input-output model was developed by Leontief and earned him the Nobel Prize. This kind of influence upon the Polish economy has been illustrated with the case study of the Sanofi company. Secondly, pharmaceutical products improve the effectiveness of medical treatment, by which they contribute to the higher standard of living and economic growth.In this part of investigation into the impact of pharmaceutical companies upon the economy the key method consists in calculating indirect costs, that is, the lost productivity (lost GDP). Non-generated GDP as well as the negative impact of diseases and the treatment thereof on public finance can be significantly reduced by using more effective pharmaceutical products. This second channel through which pharmaceutical companies exert influence on the economy has been illustrated with an example of economic consequences calculated from the social viewpoint for three gynaecological–oncology diseases. Our calculations for both channels in this exercise have led us to conclude that a pharmaceutical company positively influences its business partners and the economy while by improving the health of the population it exerts a positive impact upon the economy and public finance.

The article describes the use of deep Q-learning models in the problems of sales time series analytics. In contrast to supervised machine learning, which is a kind of passive learning, where historical data are used, Q-learning is a kind of active learning aimed at maximizing a reward by optimal sequence of actions. Model free Q-learning approach to optimal pricing strategies and supply-demand problems is considered in the work. The main idea of the study is to show that using deep Q-learning approach in time series analytics causes the sequence of actions to be optimized by maximizing the reward function when the environment for learning agent interaction can be modeled using the parametric model and in the case of using the model which is based on the historical data. In the pricing optimizing case study environment was modeled using sales dependence on extras price and randomly simulated demand. In the supply-demand case study, it was proposed to use historical demand time series for environment modeling, agent states were represented by promo actions, previous demand values and weekly seasonality features. Obtained results show that using deep Q-learning, we can optimize the decision making process for price optimization and supply-demand problems. Environment modeling using parametric models and historical data can be used for the cold start of learning agent. On the next steps, after the cold start, the trained agent can be used in real business environment.
