The 21st century education challenges educators to expose students to a wide variety of circumstances and problem situations where they are required to apply the skills they have learned. In engineering education, these are mostly limited to simulated scenarios which are devoid of real and actual interactions with the problems in the community. This article aims to describe how problem-based learning pedagogy and authentic assessment are used in the Computer Engineering program of Ateneo de Davao University as an implementation of the outcomes-based education. This is a descriptive & qualitative research that utilizes focus group discussions as a methodology for achieving its objective. This study uses the frame of experiential learning that is problem-driven, community-based, multi-disciplinary, integrative & collaborative. The computer engineering program uses a multi-disciplinary and integrative approach to problem-based learning through the service-learning program of the institution. This provides the students with an opportunity to interact with a community, identify its problems, analyze and create a concrete solution applying their acquired skills. Since the students are engaged with the community's actual and real problems, they will be assessed using authentic assessment mechanisms. Experiential learning, problem-based pedagogy with authentic assessment open doors of opportunities for a more meaningful and relevant computer engineering program.

This research aims to determine the phenomenon of authentic assessment implementation in improving learning quality. The method used in this study uses library research or research literature. The study concluded that authentic assessments with project-based learning and problem-based learning approach could improve the learning quality, giving positive implications for the development of human resources. For example, building competence, positive, critical thinking, innovative, and doing work in the form of products. Thus, an authentic assessment (project-based learning, problem-based learning, and product assessment) can improve the quality of learning to give implications for the development of human resources in the future.

Progress test has been created with the necessity of an assessment method align with problem-based learning. Although it was specifically created to overcome the limitations of traditional assessment for problem-based learning, nowadays is used by different type of curricula. In this paper, we first present the basic assumptions, the history, benefit and challenges of the progress test. Progress test overcomes many limitations of traditional assessment, such as validity and reliability. However, the implementation of progress test is a logistical challenge. In addition, we discuss the limitation of progress test when used as summative assessment, which may not always be aligned with constructivist theory. When adding feedback and methods of analysis that considers multiple testing, progress test is then align with constructivist theory. Finally, the use of progress test’s sub scores may lack validity because of the low number of items; thus, pass/fail decision should not be based on the sub scores, but only on general scores.

Authentic food souvenirs are essential in tourism, MSMEs and local wisdom. However, there is no satisfactory authentic assessment method yet, because it only examines objective or subjective aspects. Therefore, a more comprehensive study is needed; this study aims to assess authentic food souvenirs' authenticity with a geographic approach. Several stakeholders involved. It uses various methods of obtaining information. The result of this research is the superior authenticity of food souvenirs. Authentic food is useful for promoting destinations and increasing tourist spending. This assessment method can be an alternative in the assessment of authentic food souvenirs.
