This article is devoted to the analysis of the concepts of «methodology» in general, and «methodology in education» in particular. The analysis of the main classical methods in the field of teaching a foreign language such as «natural» and «grammatical-translation», indicate the urgent need for training and application of the student audience to achieve conscious foreign language knowledge in a non-linguistic higher educational institution of general economic profile.

A future teacher who speaks foreign language is in more demand by school today than ever before. Pedagogical universities change their activities to meet the school educational system’s requirements. The need of English for future teachers is determined by the necessity of subject activity. In the process of teaching the teacher not only stimulates the mastering of the basics of science, but also creates the opportunity to develop learning skills, critically realize their experience of foreign language usage. First and second year students, while learning foreign language, improve their speaking skills, learn to use the best way to build their learning activity. The goal of the next step of professional training is to master teaching methods, which will let the students use their foreign language knowledge. Teaching English on the basis of meta-subject approach principles will allow to solve these problems. The article is devoted to the analysis of solving the problems of foreign language education of future teachers. The author suggests using the meta-subject potential of a foreign language as a general strategy of foreign language education. The experimental pedagogical work carried out at the Pavlodar Pedagogical University allows us to draw a conclusion about the effectiveness of the proposed ideas.

This paper presents the results of a pilot study conducted in 60 selected companies located in Wrocław and Lower Silesia. The main objective of the study was to get information about prospective employers’ expectations of graduates of humanities with foreign language knowledge and skills, should those companies decide to employ them. It was found that according to employers social and personal competencies are as important as skills in using specialized language and new technologies. Preferred are graduates who are fluent in two foreign languages (English and German) and who have extensive general knowledge.

The article explains the key concept "multicultural education of future teachers of foreign languages". The essence and content of the notions "multiculturalism", "multicultural education" are clarified; the connection between them is established. The influence of these concepts on the process of professional training of future teachers of foreign languages is also revealed. The concept of culture is defined, namely the origin and history of ancient, medieval and modern times of the use of this concept. The relevance of teaching humanitarian disciplines in higher education institutions, especially a foreign language, is highlighted, which expands the language knowledge of students and gives them the opportunity to become full members of a multicultural environment. Also, synonymous terms for the concept of "polyculture" and the main goals of polycultural education are presented. So, we can state that the multiculturalism of the personality of future teachers of a foreign language consists in striving during intercultural communication with representatives of other languages; to understand a specific foreign language system of language and concepts of culture, their system of value-semantic guidelines, to integrate new experience into one's own system of language and concepts of culture, and also to analyze the system of one's own culture through cognition of a new culture, which leads to the formation of multicultural value guidelines.

Foreign language knowledge is a basis of understanding other cultures, different ways of life and of intercultural communication. What is more, foreign languages offer an advantage when it comes to getting job, they facilitate travelling; they open the possibilities to study abroad. The European Union encourages and supports foreign language teaching and learning.  European Union documents are made available multilingully, so that they becme pervious to all citizens of member countries. Foreign language education has a long- tradition in the Czech school system. At its disposal, it has l sophisticated methods. They are continuously modernized and harmonized in accordance with recommendations, documents and projects concerning the language policy of European Council and Commission. Abstrak: Kompetensi Minimal Profesi Sekretaris Direksi di Sepuluh Perusahaan Indonesia. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk melakukan pemetaan terhadap kompetensi minimal yang harus dimiliki oleh seorang sekretaris direksi agar memiiki kemampuan yang tinggi guna penyelesaian tugas dan tanggungjawabnya dengan baik. Diharapkan juga agar penelitian ini dapat menjadi rujukan bagi calon sekretaris direksi dalam mempersiapkan dengan tepat dalam membangun kompetensi yang sesuai dengan kebutuhan profesi tersebut. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan deskriptif kualitatif. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa kompetensi utama yang harus dimiliki sekretaris direksi adalah pribadi yang dapat dipercaya, memiliki perhatian pada pekerjaannya, memiliki pengetahuan berbahasa asing, memiliki keahlian menggunakan bahasa Indonesia dan bahasa asing, memiliki ketrampilan berkomunikasi serta memiliki pengalaman kerja di bidang perkantoran dan tata usaha kantor. Kata kunci: Kompetensi, Sekretaris. Abstract: Minimum Competence Secretary of Director in Ten Indonesian Companies. The purpose of this study is to map the minimum competencies that must be owned by a director's secretary so that they have a high ability to properly complete their duties and responsibilities. It is also hoped that this research can be a reference for prospective secretaries of directors in preparing properly in developing competencies that are in accordance with the needs of the profession. This research use desciptive qualitative approach. The results showed that the main competencies that the directors' secretaries must possess are individuals who can be trusted, have attention to their work, have foreign language knowledge, have expertise in using Indonesian and foreign languages, have communication skills and have work experience in office and office administration. Keyword: Competence, Secretary.

Academic literacy includes the learners’ ability to use their language knowledge to form articulate texts. In communicative competence models this ability is subsumed under the notion of discourse competence which includes the concepts of cohesion and coherence. Starting from the premise that constructing a coherent text entails efficient use of metadiscourse (i.e. means of explicit text organisation) this study focuses on elements referring to discourse acts, text sequences or stages called frame markers, i.e. items providing framing information about elements of the discourse and functioning to sequence, label, predict and shift arguments, making the discourse clear to readers or listeners (Hyland 2005). It analyses patterns of L2 learners’ use of frame markers, compares them to English native speakers’, and explores the relationship between frame markers and coherence. The corpus includes 80 argumentative essays written by early undergraduate Croatian L2 learners of English at B2 level. The results indicate that foreign language learners’ argumentative essays are characterized by an overuse of a limited set of frame markers. Finally, implications are drawn for teaching and further research.
