The value of play has mainly stayed consistent throughout time. Playing is, without a doubt, one of the essential things we can do. Playing in addition to supporting motor, neurological, and social development improves adaptation by encouraging people to explore diverse perspectives on the world and assisting them in developing methods for dealing with problems in a safe setting. The way we play and what we play with have been heavily affected by the quickly evolving technology shaping our daily lives. Artificial intelligence (A.I.) is now found in many products, including vehicles, phones, and vacuum cleaners. This extends to children's items, with the creation of an "Internet of Toys." Many learning, remote control, and app-integrated toys include innovative playthings that employ speech recognition and machine learning to communicate with users. This study examines the impact of technology adoption on the success and failure of two toys industry – Hasbro, Inc and Toys R Us, Inc. The research methodology of this study is based on case studies where the comparison of the two industries was made from a few areas. The finding of the study determines that corporations that evolved consistently with the change of technology will continue to grow in the market. In contrast, the corporation that failed to adopt digital transformation will be a force out of the market.

The article considers the mechanisms of “defensive” remote control in labor relations. It analyzes different methods of collecting personal data and the purpose of their use in labor relations, as well as the impact of digitalization on labor relations and the variety of control tools. The author investigates the boundaries of remote control in the ECHR case law, including the decisions of Italian courts in the field of video surveillance and suppression of illegal behavior of employees. The author concludes that a new and more specific legislative regulation of the employer’s remote control is needed.

With the development of international activities of many companies, the question arises how to effectively organize control over international business projects. The difficulty of this control is due to the distance between the company's headquarters and foreign business projects. This study shows the features of the organization of remote control of international business projects by optimizing for their own needs different concepts, methods, types, approaches, stages, models, types of remote control, explores the pros and cons of remote control in different ways, the impact of cultural features on the implementation of remote control. Originality / value. The article analyzes when companies need to apply remote control, ways to improve remote control, compares the concept of remote control by international business projects, substantiates the feasibility of using different types of control (preliminary, current and final), offers new methods of remote control, analyzes different approaches to control , the stages of formation of the model of remote control over international business projects are investigated, the types of remote control and characteristics of companies and business projects are characterized, the involvement of different in detail, degree of coverage, frequency of control methods to optimize control of business projects is analyzed. remote control of the cultural characteristics of the host country (project location) and country of origin. Materials and methods. Theoretical materials of the organization of remote control are investigated and analyzed: economic literature (manuals and textbooks), scientific works (articles and theses). Different research methods were used: theoretical (material analysis and synthesis, generalization and explanation, classification, etc.), empirical (observation and description), systemic and functional.

Interactive digital television (IDTV), the merging of the Internet and television, has the potential of reaching many consumers. Introducing interactivity in television content will replace lean-backward viewing with a more active lean-forward viewing (Van den Broeck, Pierson, & Pauwels, 2004). This new way of watching TV can have implications for the way people process the advertisements embedded in programmes. We examine the impact of two dimensions of interactivity induced by a TV quiz show, that is, user control and two-way communication (McMillan & Hwang, 2002) on the ad and brand recall of an embedded commercial. User control means the possibility of accessing extra information about the quiz show, the host, and the candidates with the remote control. Two-way communication allows the viewer to play along with the quiz using the remote control.

It is evident from the experience of operating the construction machinery (excavators, bulldozers, loaders etc.) that quite often the machinery and its operators are working under severe conditions. Working under threat of rock fall, on unstable or contaminated grounds, or debris handling tends to increase the impact of adverse occupational environment on the operators’ health. When the operators are at risk, it is advisable to deploy remote process control technologies on the work sites. This is what brings research and development of modern remote control systems to the top of the chart in order to improve the productivity of machinery, enhance the safety and quality of the jobs carried out. The use of remote control will exclude the adverse impact of aggressive environment during the process operations. The research allowed to establish that the design specifics of the construction and road-making machines enable them to go far beyond the standard process layout giving into a much wider range of application, up to aggressive environments. A crawler excavator model was devised, imitating the visibility range of the process areas for the manual and remote control systems. Implementation of remote control for construction and road-making machines may become a step towards a completely new level of interaction within the man-machine-environment system.

ABSTRACTBackground:This study was a part of a larger study exploring the impact of assistive technology on the lives of young people living with dementia (YPD). This paper focuses on one of the most useful devices, the simple remote control (SRC). The objective was to explore the reason why the SRC is significant and beneficial in the everyday lives of YPD and their caregivers. Methods:This qualitative longitudinal study had a participatory design. Eight participants received an SRC. The range for using it was 0–15 months. In-depth interviews and observations were conducted at baseline and repeated every third month up to 18 months. A situated learning approach was used in the analysis to provide a deeper understanding of the significance and use of SRC.Results:Young people having dementia spend a substantial amount of time alone. Watching television was reported to be important, but handling remote controls was challenging and created a variety of problems. YPD learned to use SRC, which made important differences in the everyday lives of all family members. Comprehensive support from caregivers and professionals was important for YPD in the learning process. Conclusions:The SRC was deemed a success because it solved challenges regarding the use of television in everyday lives of families. The design was recognizable and user-friendly, thus allowing YPD to learn its operation. Access to professional support and advice regarding assistive technology is vital for establishing a system for follow-up and continued collaboration to make future adaptations and adjustments.

Member States started adopting carrier liability regulations from the mid-1980s, seemingly as a direct response to increasing numbers of asylum requests, with immigration liaison officer (ILO) schemes proliferating afterwards. Techniques of ‘remote control’ have now been communautarised, providing an additional layer of control. Both carriers and ILOs have privileged access to migrants bound to the EU already at the pre-entry phase. Making them responsible for the anticipated enforcement of visas has the potential to block lines of regular (and safe) access to those in need of international protection. This chapter is concerned with these developments. It analyses carrier sanctions and ILOs legislation, comparing the EU regime with its international counterparts. The review encompasses the pre- and post-Schengen periods as well as recent innovations concerning the automated treatment and transfer of advance passenger information (API) and the creation of ‘Frontex liaison officers’. The impact of carrier sanctions and ILO activities on refugee flows is scrutinized at the end, pointing at a structural incompatibility of advance border enforcement, through a model of ‘imperfect delegation’/’hidden coercion’, with basic guarantees against denial of entry.

AbstractEnsuring reliability and continuity of energy supply is the main goal of local governments and distribution companies. The continuity of energy supply means capability of a power grid to supply agreed amount of energy, of specific quality, without power cuts. The expectations concerning the quality of supplied energy and ensuring its continuity are constantly growing, and any power cuts have significant impact on comfort of life and manufacturing and service sector. To increase reliability of energy supply and improve condition of a power grid in the distribution companies, the works are conducted to increase power supply reliability indexes. The main goal of this publication is to present a problem of discontinuity of energy supply and actions aiming at improvement of power supply reliability indexes. An analysis of discontinuity of energy supply presented in the article is based on data obtained from a selected department of a distribution company. Based on actual data, the impact of location of remote-controlled controllers on the value of SAIDI and SAIFI was presented. Four variants of remote control on the sequence of a medium-voltage cable line were analysed.
