The relevance of the study for the economy is enhanced by such phenomena as the impact of the global financial crisis, the complication of the sectoral and territorial structure of production, the strengthening of integration of all spheres of public life, the increasing importance of environmental, social and political factors in the development of society, the increase in transaction costs of decision-making in the field of management. The study of the literature on territories gives grounds to define the concept of the regional system of Russia as an element, a subsystem of some hierarchical system, in the role of which the national economy acts. The processes of globalization are fundamentally changing the role of regions in the national economy. The region is gradually becoming not only a separate economic agent, but also enters into global competitive processes. The position of geographically organized systems turns out to depend not only on the macroeconomic conditions or the capabilities of the regions themselves, but also on the alignment of competitive forces, the mechanisms of interaction of regions with other entities. In this regard, there is a need for systematic research in order to develop a set of measures that will contribute to improving the competitiveness of the economy as a whole, its regions in particular. The existing tools of the regional economy are no longer sufficient to analyze such problems, and traditional competitive analysis does not consider regions as subjects of competition. It requires the expansion and application of new theoretical approaches to the analysis of regional economic systems and the effectiveness of their development, the formation of an integral concept of the development of the territorial organization of the economy, which determined the relevance of this study.

The accumulation of non performing financing in economic activities financed by banks can cause problems with the continuity of the bank's operations, if that exceeds certain limits will have potential to stop the bank's activities. This study aims to analyze the influence of bank’s internal variables like  FDR, CAR, BOPO and bank external variables like macroeconomic indicators consisting of exchange rates, inflation and GDP (GDP) against non-Performing Financing (NPF) of Islamic Commercial Banks in Indonesia. The data used are monthly industrial time series of Sharia Commercial Banks (BUS) for the period June 2014 to December 2018 sourced from the Islamic Banking Statistics of the Financial Services Authority, the Central Bureau of Statistics (Badan Pusat Statistik) and Bank Indonesia and analyzed using multiple regression methods. The research implications explain the relationship between the internal variables of the bank company (FDR, CAR and BOPO) and macroeconomic variables (Inflation, Exchange and GDP) on the NPF of Islamic banks in Indonesia so that they can be used as input for the relevant authorities in making policies to suppress NPF at a low level. The variables used can provide an overview of the role of the implementation of sharia public bank governance and existing macroeconomic conditions so that it can produce policies and provisions in the field of sharia banking that are effective and on target. The results showed that the CAR variable had a significant effect on NPF with negative influence. Whereas FDR, BOPO, exchange rate, inflation and GDP have no influence on NPF BUS in IndonesiaKeywords: Non Performing Financing, Non Performing Loan, Islamic Commercial Bank, Indonesia.

This position paper analyzes the growth and inflation in Panama. Panama experiences a virtuous circle for economy: a balanced and sustained rate of long-term growth, and moderate levels of inflation. This phenomenon is what economists call the divine coincidence. As the role of the Government withdraws gradually, in order to strengthen the activity of the private sector, the macroeconomic conditions to sustain and recreate such coincidence as the new normal situation of the Panamanian economy will emerge. The diversification of the economy, the macro-fiscal prudence, the favorable perspectives of growth in key sectors (such as public utilities, mines and quarries, and transport, storage and communications; which are sectors that depend upon international commerce and service exports), and the mean reversion of inflation —even despite the economic and geopolitical uncertainties— are the cornerstones upon which the economic activity and the development model of the nation lay. Warnings about the possible wears of the model of discretionary expenditure in social fields, since the revenues of these interventions have lost power. If there is no shift in the focus of these interventions, they could disrupt the delicate balance needed to maintain and strengthen the divine coincidence at the economic level. Thus, the best policy today must be prudent, cautious and focused to develop social capital.

This article focuses on the role of unionised members of parliament. While unions have a direct effect on the labour market via wage negotiations, they often also take part in political debates. In many countries, significant shares of the members of parliament are also members of a trade union. However, up to now little empirical evidence is available on the extent to which unionised members of parliament try to achieve union-specific goals and thereby influence the macroeconomic conditions of an economy. A recent study for Germany comes to the conclusion that union members in the Bundestag cannot be seen as the parliamentary arm of the trade unions. However, we present contradicting empirical results by showing that, in Germany at least, the degree of unionisation of parliamentary members has a negative impact on economic growth and increases inflation, while unemployment remains unaffected.

A recombinant cysteine protease inhibitor, onchocystatin of the parasitic nematode Onchocerca volvulus, was tested for its role in microfilarial development in the simuliid vector. Onchocystatin was found to be present in female adults and skin microfilariae of the bovine parasite O. ochengi, the closest relative of O. volvulus. In addition the inhibitor could be detected as an excretory–secretory (E–S) product of the microfilariae. Co-injection of onchocystatin and the O. ochengi microfilariae into the surrogate vector Simulium ornatum s.l. significantly enhanced the recovery rates of the parasite within 24 h into the infection (P>0·001). The findings suggest a possible role of onchocystatin in the evasion by the parasite of the immune response of its vector.
