Background: Anemia in pregnancyis a decrease in the total red blood cells (RBCs) or hemoglobin in the blood duringpregnancyor in the period following pregnancy. It is the condition of having a lower-than-normal number of red blood cells or quantity of hemoglobin. Anemia diminishes the capacity of the blood to carry oxygen. Patients with anemia may feel tired, fatigue easily, appear pale, develop palpitations, and become shortness of breath. Objectives: The purpose of the present study was to investigate about the awareness of anemia among rural pregnant women in Bagerhat district of Bangladesh Materials and Method: A sample of 29 pregnant women (PW) from a total of listed 111 women from three upazilas of Bagerhat district was considered for assessing the awareness of Anemia. Those three upazilas were taken at random first from the nine upazilas of Bagerhat district.Data on different variables were collected directly from the selected women through a prescribed questionnaire. Descriptive statistics e.g., maximum, minimum, mean, standard deviation, skewness, kurtosis, etc. of the variables together with their standard error of their estimates were considered foranalyzing sample characteristics of the study. The relationship between two nominal variables is assessed by cross tabulation with test statistics Phi and Cramers V. The bootstrapresampling method was used to understand the population parameters. Results: About86% pregnant women have no idea about anemia and also their causes. All respondents feel weakness that indicates they have the symptom of anemia. The phi andcramersV imply that the relationship between heard about anemia and the source of information is highly significant (p= 0.000). Among the awarded women in Bagerhat district, probability of getting awareness from service provider was0.917 and that from relatives was 0.083. Among the population, the probability of contribution of the service provider was0.379. Probability of unknown was 0.586 indicating much populationin Bagerhat district werenot aware about anemia. Probability of getting information of anemia from mother was zero indicating very recently service providers have started their program in Bagerhat district. Conclusion: Probability of getting information of anemia from mother is zero indicating very recently service providers have started their program in Bagerhat district. Therefore, this program should be continued until the probability of getting information from mother will be closed to 1. Recommendation: Government as well as the NGOs should continue & enhance the present awareness program in Bagerhat district.

With the increasing maturity of cloud technologies and the growing demand from customers, the cloud computing ecosystem has been expanding continuously with both incumbents and new entrants, whereby it has become more distributed and less transparent. For cloud service providers previously focusing on growth strategies, it is now necessary to shift the attention to providing service efficiently, as well as profitably. Based on 14 explorative interviews with cloud service experts, the relationship between cloud service provider profitability and value facilitation, which stands for the capability to build up resources in advance of future customer engagements, is investigated. The results indicate a positive relationship between cloud service profitability and value facilitation and deliver valuable insights for both researchers and practitioners. In particular, guidelines on how to design profitable cloud service offerings are discussed.

In this study the volume-dependent or N-ethylmaleimide (NEM)-stimulated, ouabain-insensitive K+ influx and efflux were measured with the tracer 86Rb+ in rabbit red blood cells. The purpose of the work was to examine the rabbit as a potential model for cell volume regulation in human SS red blood cells and also to investigate the relationship between the NEM-reactive sulfhydryl group(s) and the signal by which cell swelling activates the transport. Ouabain-resistant K+ efflux and influx increase nearly threefold in cells swollen hypotonically by 15%. Pretreatment with 2 mM NEM stimulates efflux 5-fold and influx 10-fold (each measured in an isotonic medium). The ouabain-resistant K+ efflux was dependent on the major anion in the medium. The anion dependence of K+ efflux in swollen or NEM-stimulated cells was as follows: Br- greater than Cl- much greater than NO3- = acetate. The magnitudes of both the swelling- and the NEM-stimulated fluxes are much higher in young cells (density separated but excluding reticulocytes) than in older cells. Swelling- or NEM-stimulated K+ efflux in rabbit red blood cells was inhibited 50% by 1 mM furosemide, and the inhibitory potency of furosemide was enhanced by extracellular K+, as is known to be true for human AA and low-K+ sheep red blood cells. The swelling-stimulated flux in both rabbit and human SS cells has a pH optimum at approximately 7.4. We conclude that rabbit red blood cells are a good model for swelling-stimulated K+ transport in human SS cells.(ABSTRACT TRUNCATED AT 250 WORDS)

Circulating fetal cells (CFCs) in maternal blood are rare but have a strong potential to be the target for noninvasive prenatal diagnosis (NIPD). “Cell RevealTM system” is a silicon-based microfluidic platform capable to capture rare cell populations in human circulation. The platform is recently optimized to enhance the capture efficiency and system automation. In this study, spiking tests of SK-BR-3 breast cancer cells were used for the evaluation of capture efficiency. Then, peripheral bloods from 14 pregnant women whose fetuses have evidenced non-maternal genomic markers (e.g., de novo pathogenic copy number changes) were tested for the capture of circulating fetal nucleated red blood cells (fnRBCs). Captured cells were subjected to fluorescent in situ hybridization (FISH) on chip or recovered by an automated cell picker for molecular genetic analyses. The capture rate for the spiking tests is estimated as 88.1%. For the prenatal study, 2–71 fnRBCs were successfully captured from 2 mL of maternal blood in all pregnant women. The captured fnRBCs were verified to be from fetal origin. Our results demonstrated that the Cell RevealTM system has a high capture efficiency and can be used for fnRBC capture that is feasible for the genetic diagnosis of fetuses without invasive procedures.
