The purpose of this paper is to examine the determinants of financial performance, firm liquidity and financial leverage of Indian listed firms. This study uses both static models (pooled, fixed, and random effects) and Generalized Moment Methods (GMM). Financial leverage (FINLE) is defined by the ratio of total liabilities to total assets, whereas the current ratio and the quick ratio are used as firm liquidity factors. Further, a set of financial performance determinants such as return on assets, profit after tax, return on capital employed, return on equity, and Tobin-Q are used as independent factors. The results indicated that profit after tax, return on equity, return on capital employed, and Tobin-Q are the most significant financial success variables that influence financial leverage of Indian listed companies. Furthermore, profit after tax, return on capital invested, return on equity, and Tobin-Q are considered to have a substantial effect on financial leverage among the financial success indicators. In the case of firm liquidity, the findings show that the current ratio and the quick ratio have a substantial effect on the financial leverage of Indian listed companies.

This paper explores the impact of corporate social responsibility (CSR) and financial distress on corporate financial performance (CFP) in Chinese listed companies of the manufacturing industry. Covering a total of 1445 manufacturing observations from 2013 to 2018 by matching the China Stock Market & Accounting Research Database (CSMAR) and Ranking CSR Ratings (RKS) database and regression models, we find that CSR has a significant positive impact on CFP, and the relationship is more pronounced for firms that are more stable. Further, the win-win relationship of CSR and CFP is also stronger in state-owned enterprises (SOEs). These empirical results suggest that enterprises should actively embrace CSR in response to the call of the country. At the same time, corporate stability should be increased to enhance the role of CSR in promoting CFP. We provide a quantitative analysis of the CSR, CFP, and financial distress of listed firms, and help to alleviate managers’ concern of CSR fulfillment and risk control.

: Every company has two major objectives in terms of profitability. i.e. Profit Maximization and Shareholders’ Wealth Maximization. Ratio analysis is a good tool which fosters the utilization of company figures to make proper investment decision for various classes of investors and management for taking right decisions at right time. ROE (Return on Equity) comes into the picture in terms of measuring the wealth maximization. It is basically a composition of ROCE or Return on Capital Employed. American paint manufacturing company named DuPont invented DuPont model of ROE analysis. It basically talks about the key factors contributing the return on equity. It can be used to analyze the return in any industry. In this study, we studied the impact of COVID-19 pandemic in their financial performance using DuPont analysis of the three Nationalized Petroleum company including BPCL, HPCL & Indian Oil Corporation.
