Tax compliance is a major contemporary debate surrounding corporate taxation in the business world. The tax avoidance issue, which remains an ethical problem for companies, has been a general concern in developed and developing countries alike. The main problem of this study is a non-tax compliance behavior of the corporate organization taxpayers in Nigeria. This study examined the influence of tax fairness on the tax compliance behavior of listed manufacturing companies in Nigeria. The paper adopted a survey research method, and four hundred (400) copies of the questionnaire were administered to the selected manufacturing companies of both consumer and industrial goods sectors. The Laffer Curve Theory underpinned this study and Correlation Analysis, Analysis of Variance (ANOVA), and Multiple Regression Analysis were also employed. The study found that there is a significant level of tax compliance among the listed manufacturing companies in Nigeria. The study also shows that the corporate taxpayer’s perception of fairness of –2.765 (0.006) has a significant impact on corporate taxpayers’ willingness to pay taxes and tax knowledge of 4.601 (0.000) significantly influenced tax compliance. Based on tax knowledge, the study recommends that tax authorities must improve the knowledge of taxpayers and tax collection agents through programs, initiatives, and training on tax awareness.

Tax revenue is a key source of income for most countries in the world. To maximize tax revenue, it is critical that taxpayers comply with relevant tax laws particularly in a self-assessment filing system. Alas, many countries are still grappling with tax evasion or even tax avoidance issue. A key challenge is tax compliance behavior remains a complex and perplexing topic. While a lack of tax knowledge is pertinently attributable to unintentional non-compliance, the causes of intentional non-compliance are far from clear. This study aims to investigate the factors associated with intentional tax non-compliance by ruling out the variation in tax knowledge explanation. In so doing, this study employs a sample of respondents deemed conversant with tax knowledge. More specifically, this study surveys 104 tax practitioners in Malaysia using a convenience sampling technique and utilizes the theories of planned behavior and free trait to explore how they behave when filing their personal tax returns. The findings suggest only subjective norms is significantly linked to their tax compliance behavior. This study extends the literature on the role of individual factors on tax compliance behaviour among tax practitioners acting in a different persona.

Customers hold the key role in determining the market of any material. The demand and requirements of the customers are taken into account while the manufacturers produce any product. Mobile phones, being an essential element in today’s world, occupy a large market in today’s business world. Customer satisfaction is the prime motive of the manufacturing companies. Based on a survey conducted, we study the current trend of phone purchase in India and thus analyze the customer’s responses towards different brands and their products. The results depict which brands satisfy the customer requirements.

Zakat institutions are obliged to collect zakat from every eligible Muslim because their existence manages the institution by distributing the wealth from the wealthy Muslims to zakat asnafs. However, the zakat institutions still fail to ensure that every one of zakat payers will comply with paying through the institutions. Zakat payers' trust affects their zakat compliance behavior (Mustafa et al., 2013). According to research done by Faizal and Ramli (2017), compliance behavior is one factor that influences the act of tax compliance. This finding supports the prior studies by Kastlunger et al. (2013), who say that high trust causes the increase in tax compliance. The same case goes with paying zakat. Zakat payers' trust is essential in ensuring zakat payers pay zakat through the formal channels. According to Ahmad, Wahid, and Mohamad (2006), zakat payers' dissatisfaction towards zakat distribution practices by zakat institutions leads them to pay zakat directly to asnafs. Thus, this proves that lack of trust by zakat payers can increase the self-distribution practice and leakage in zakat collection. According to a report by Populus (2018), donors are most likely to donate their money to support causes by charities if charities are good at managing funds and demonstrate impacts for their causes. Otherwise, they will lose trust in those charities. As in this study, the main focus to study zakat payers' trust is to reduce the increase in self-distribution practice and gradually lead to maximize the zakat collection in the future. Based on that reason, this study determines which factors should be focused on to increase zakat payers' trust. The proposed factors in this study are disclosure practices, council board, and stakeholder management practices. Thus, the paper aims to develop a conceptual model of zakat payers' trust in a zakat institution in Kelantan. Aim of this research is to determine the effect of accounting conservatism and tax avoidance on firm value. The type of data used in this study is secondary data in the form of annual reports of manufacturing companies listed on the Indonesia Stock Exchange (IDX) for the 2013-2016 period. The number of samples is 48 manufacturing companies. The data analysis technique used is regression analysis. The results of the study show that conservatism has a positive effect on firm value, tax avoidance has a negative effect on firm value. While simultaneously conservatism and tax avoidance have a positive effect on firm value. Thus this study supports that accounting conservatism has a role as a function of monitoring the company's investment policies and one way to maintain the value of the company in limiting losses that may arise from poorly performing investment decisions. The company that conducts tax avoidance (has a smaller effective tax rate) is an effort made by management to reduce the company's tax burden and is able to minimize expenditure for tax purposes so that management looks good in the eyes of shareholders.

Abstrak   Tax avoidance  merupakan upaya yang dilakukan seseorang untuk mengurangi atau meminimalkan kewajiban pajaknya tanpa melanggar ketentuan undang-undang perpajakan yang berlaku. Wajib pajak berusaha untuk meringankan kewajiban pembayaran pajak dengan meminimalkan jumlah pajak yang harus dibayar. Terdapat beberapa faktor yang dapat mempengaruhi seseorang dalam melakukan tax avoidance yaitu profitabilitas, karakter eksekutif dan kepemilikan keluarga. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menguji pengaruh dari variabel-variabel tersebut yaitu variabel profitabilitas, karakter eksekutif dan kepemilikan keluarga terhadap variabel tax avoidance. Penelitian ini dilakukan pada perusahaan manufaktur yang terdaftar di Bursa Efek Indonesia selama periode 2014-2018. Sampel yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini sebanyak 14 perusahaan yang diperoleh melalui metode purposive sampling dan diteliti selama 5 tahun sehingga sampel dalam penelitian ini sebanyak 70 sampel. Teknik analisis data yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah teknik analisis regresi linear berganda. Hasil analisis menunjukkan bahwa profitabilitas tidak berpengaruh terhadap tax avoidance perusahaan, sedangkan karakter eksekutif dan kepemilikan keluarga berpengaruh positif terhadap tax avoidance  perusahaan.   Kata kunci: profitabilitas, karakter eksekutif, kepemilikan keluarga dan tax avoidance   Abstract   Tax avoidance is an attempt by someone to reduce or minimize their tax obligations without violating the provisions of applicable tax laws. Taxpayers try to ease the tax payment obligations by minimizing the amount of tax that must be paid. There are several factors that can influence someone in doing tax avoidance, namely profitability, executive character and family ownership. This study aims to examine the effect of these variables, namely profitability, executive character and family ownership on tax avoidance variables. This research was conducted at manufacturing companies listed on the Indonesia Stock Exchange during the 2014-2018 period. The samples used in this study were 14 companies obtained through the purposive sampling method and studied for 5 years so that the samples in this study were 70 samples. Data analysis technique used in this study is multiple linear regression analysis techniques. The analysis shows that profitability has no effect on corporate tax avoidance, while executive character and family ownership have a positive effect on corporate tax avoidance.   Keywords: profitability, executive character, family ownership and tax avoidance

<p>Government Regulation No. 46/2013 has not been optimal in providing legal compliance on taxation for Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs), especially in Yogyakarta. This policy was evaluated and amended with Government Regulation No. 23/2018. The amendment in tax policy for MSME actors was this research background to examine: First, how does the final income tax policy impact MSME taxpayers' compliance in Yogyakarta? Second, what are the legal compliance constraints of MSME taxpayers? The method used in this research was a juridical empirical, supported with the statute and conceptual approach. The results showed that the amendment in the final income tax tariff policy from 1% to 0.5%, as well as provide legal certainty of the timeframe of taxation had a positive impact on increasing taxpayer compliance. There was an increase in the number of taxpayers to 41,000 in 2019, or an increase of 15.5% compared to the number of taxpayers in 2017. However, tariff reduction has not been the answer to taxpayer non-compliance, the Regional Office of the Directorate General of Taxes of the Special Region of Yogyakarta still found tax avoidance. Tax compliance constraints were also caused by taxpayers' distrust of the government, poor tax morale, and tax knowledge. The government needs to conduct a cooperative compliance approach in taxation policies based on trust and dialogue between taxpayers and the government to improve MSME taxpayer compliance.</p><p><strong>Keywords:</strong> Tax Compliance; Final Income Tax Regulation; Micro; Small; Medium Enterprises.</p>

This study aims to analyze the effect of executive characteristics and family ownership as a stimulus factor for tax avoidance and to see the existence of a political relationship as a moderating variable in the effect of executive characteristics and family ownership on tax avoidance. This research was conducted on manufacturing companies listed on the Indonesia Stock Exchange during 2017-2019. In this study, the sample was determined based on the purposive sampling technique with the criteria that the sample company was manufacture listed on the IDX for three consecutive years from 2017-2019, published an annual report in the 2017-2019 period sequentially, did not experience delisting, was not a company the IPO in 2018-2019, did not experience any losses and did not have an ETR value of more than 1. The research sample was obtained from as many as 138 companies with 3 years of observation. This study uses multiple linear regression analysis (Multiple Regression Analysis) and Moderate Regression Analysis (MRA) using the Statistical Product and Service Solution (SPSS) program. The results showed (I) executive characteristics had a significant positive effect on tax avoidance (II) family ownership had a significant negative effect on tax avoidance (III) political connections were not able to strengthen the executive's positive influence on tax avoidance (IV) political connections weakened family ownership on tax avoidance. This study can also show that the sample companies tend to comply with tax rules, they avoid sanctions and fines, and consider the risk of loss that must be faced by the company when proven to do tax avoidance.
