According to epidemiological data, nearly a quarter of the adult population in developed countries suffers from constipation. Due to a significant decrease in quality of life, it represents a serious medical and social problem. Constipation occurs more frequently in the elderly, but both children and adults face this problem. This disease is often caused by the features of modern life: hypodynamia, diet violations, a fiber- and water-depleted diet, frequent stress, etc. Unfortunately, despite the high prevalence of the disease, patients do not seek immediate medical advice. We will discuss this urgent problem and look for new efficient solutions of it with the leading experts: Gastroenterologist Yuri A. Kucheryavy, Cand. of Sci. The VII Ruzhnikov Readings, the annual scientifi c round table, took place at the Faculty of Journalism at Lomonosov Moscow State University on September 26, 2019. The National Foundation for Infantile Paralysis has awarded postgraduate fellowships in the fields of scientific research, physical medicine and public health. Three of the new fellows will devote their time to research projects in the field of pediatrics. Dr. John J. Osborn, of Larchmont, N.Y., has already begun his project at New York University—Bellevue Medical Center under Drs. L. Emmett Holt, Jr., Professor of Pediatrics, and Colin MacLeod, Professor of Microbiology; Dr. Paul Harold Hardy, Jr., of Baltimore, Md., and Dr. David I. Schrum, of Houston, Texas, will start their work July 1, respectively, at Johns Hopkins Hospital, under Drs. Francis F. Schwentker, Pediatrician-in-Chief, and Horace L. Hodes, Associate Professor of Pediatrics; and at Louisiana State University School of Medicine under Drs. Myron E. Wegman, Professor of Pediatrics, and G. John Buddingh, Professor of Microbiology.

In May 2018 the Engineering Graphics Chair celebrates 90 years from the date of its foundation. The Chair was organized in 1928. The paper tells the Chair’s history, its teachers and heads, as well as a brief description of its scientific work. In 1900 were established the Moscow Higher Feminine Courses (MHFCs). A year after the October revolution, in late 1918, MHFCs were transformed into the 2nd Moscow state University. In 1930 the 2nd MSU was reorganized into three independent institutes: medical, chemical-technological and pedagogical ones. In May 1928 was organized the Chair of Technical Drawing, this moment is the counting of Engineering Graphics Chair existence. The first head of the Chair was S.G. Borisov. Than the Chair was supervised by Associate Professor A.A. Sintsov (from September 1932 till January 1942), Associate Professor M.Ya. Khanyutin (in 1942–1952), Associate Professor N.I. Noskov (in 1954–1962), Associate Professor F.T. Karpechenko (in 1962–1972), Senior Lecturer N.A. Sevruk (in 1972–1982), Professor, Doctor of Engineering E.K. Voloshin-Chelpan (from January 1982 to August 2007), Associate Professor V.I. Vyshnepolsky (from August 2007 till present). Currently, on the Chair are carrying out researches in the following directions: Higher School’s Pedagogy; Academic Competitions of Regional and All-Russia’s Level; Loci; Geometry of Cyclic Surfaces; Theory of Kinetic Geometry; Geometries; Geometric Transformations; Theory of Fractals; Famous Geometers’ Biographies.

Just like the vast majority of diseases, constipation is now associated with civilization and urbanization. According to epidemiological data, up to 30% of the adult population of economically developed countries suffer from this nosology, among which women predominate. It is known that only one of four patients suffering from stool retention visit a specialist. The rest confine themselves to the advice of friends, reading of popular medical literature or consulting a pharmacist at the pharmacy. Thus, only 25% of our patients receive medical care (we cannot talk about quality, nevertheless, the care is medical), and 75%, as a rule, only periodically try to set off this condition. Constipation is dangerous as it may cause the development of complications: secondary colitis, proctosigmoiditis, hemorrhoids, anal fissures, paraproctitis and the most threatening disease – colorectal cancer. Therapy for constipation should first begin with lifestyle changes. The irritating agents that enhance secretion are the drugs that are most frequently used, because they very quickly and reliably achieve the effect. Thus, among the most commonly used and effective ones are sodium picosulfate (Regulax®) preparations.

The objective of this project, implemented at the Faculty of Public Administration of the Lomonosov Moscow State University, is interdisciplinary studies of family behaviour strategies of young people in terms of the ‘Demography’ National Project (2019—2024) and those of challenges associated with the socio-economic development of the country. The following objectives were set and achieved: the main strategies of students’ family behaviour were identified; monitoring of changes in the students’ current strategies by contrast of the similar studies carried out in 2008 was conducted; the factors which impact the formation of marital and family attitudes depending on the educational profile and the university were identified; the analysis of the state family and youth policy from the perspective of its perception by students was carried out; recommendations and proposals to adjust the state social policy as part of projects and programs on demography, family and youth policy, as well as those on their monitoring and evaluation were developed. The project outcomes were provided in the reports during national and international conferences and discussed at the round table organized by the Faculty of Public Administration of the Lomonosov Moscow State University and were covered in the publications of 2019—2020. The project highlighted the need for continuous monitoring of changes in the youth milieu with respect to family strategies, in order to quickly realign the state priorities while implementing the national projects of Russia.

Round table summary. In January 2019, the Faculty of Philosophy of the Lomonosov Moscow State University held the round table “Problems of Consciousness: Research Opportunities.” It was dedicated to problems of interdisciplinary studies of consciousness. Many famous Russian specialists whose academic interests include consciousness, brain and mind took part in this event: K.V. Anokhin, D.I. Dubrovsky, T.V. Chernigovskaya, M.A. Piradov, A.A. Potapov, V.Y. Sergin, V.V. Vasil’ev, Z.A. Zorina and others. At the round table, the following problems were discussed: the specificity of consciousness problem, its relevance in various academic disciplines, contemporary research possibilities for consciousness studies to solve the problems that specialists actually face. Much attention was paid to the problems of neurobiology, empirical research of consciousness. Nonetheless, participants showed in their speeches that the problem of consciousness is also a philosophical problem. Hence, it requires thoughtful consideration of philosophers. Participants decided that for progress in solving this problem researchers from various (not only natural) disciplines have to cooperate.
