This study aimed to determine the hydrochemical characteristics and hydrogeochemical processes of shallow groundwater in the Jinta Basin, northwest China, and to evaluate the suitability of groundwater quality for drinking water and agricultural irrigation. A systematic hydrogeological survey was conducted in the study area from May 2017 to October 2018, during which 123 representative samples of groundwater were selected for analysis of chemical parameters and determination of the water quality index. The results showed that the pH of groundwater in the study area was weakly alkaline and ranged between 7.21–8.93. Dominant cations were Mg2+ and Na+ and the dominant anion was SO42−. Along the groundwater flow from the southwest to northeast, the dominant groundwater chemistry type in the recharge area was Mg-HCO3·SO4. After the transition of the groundwater types in the runoff area to Mg-SO4·HCO3 and Mg·Na-SO4, the groundwater type in the discharge area evolved into Na·Mg-SO4·Cl. The major factors driving the evolution of groundwater chemical types in the Jinta Basin were found to be rock weathering, evaporation and precipitation. The chemical components of groundwater mainly originated from the dissolution of silicate rock and evaporative concentration of salt under water-rock interaction, whereas the dissolution of carbonate had little influence. The quality of drinking water was divided into five groups, and 39.84% of samples fell within the high and good quality groups. The quality of agricultural irrigation water was divided into different grades according to different methods.

The quality of selected bored well and dug well waters from the central tracts of the Lalitpur region in the state of Uttar Pradesh, India, was investigated for irrigation purposes.  The study area is situated within the latitudes 24° 35' N and 24° 43' N, and the longitudes 78° 20' 41" E and 78° 30' E in the basin of the Shahzad River, which is a tributary of the Betwa River. Granites and gneisses of Archaean age are exposed in various parts of the area. The selected groundwater samples were analysed for major cations, anions, trace elements, pH, electrical conductivity (EC), sodium absorption ratio (SAR), residual sodium carbonate (RSC), permeability index (Pl), and sodium per cent (SP). The analysed data were plotted on Wilcox and U.S. salinity diagrams to evaluate chemical quality of groundwater for irrigation. The SAR values (ranging from 0.47 to 79) are within the permissible limits. A majority of samples (i.e., 57.5%) belong to C3-S, class whereas remaining samples (42.5%) fall in C2-S1 class. Plots of SP against EC indicate that a large number of samples (67.5%) fall within Excellent to Good type of water whereas remaining samples lie within Good to Permissible type. Hence the water can be used for all types of crop on soils of medium to high permeability.

Determining the water quality of agricultural irrigation ponds has great importance both for agricultural production and for aquatic organisms. In this study, seasonal changes of the physico-chemical parameters and metal concentrations of water in Terzialan Pond were investigated. In 2019, physico-chemical analysis of the water samples taken from four sampling points are made according to APHA (2012) standard method, determining metal concentrations with ICP-OES. The water quality of the pond is evaluated according to YSKYY, ITASHY and TS266 classes. Terzialan Pond, according to Surface Water Quality Management Regulations is found to be second quality in terms of phosphate concentration and first quality in other parameters. The pond can be used as agricultural irrigation water being in C2-S1 class according to US Salinity Laboratory diagram and very good- good class according to Wilcox diagram. Changes in water quality are observed due to anthropogenic effects depending on seasonal agricultural and recreational activities, besides natural effects. Periodic monitoring of the pond will be beneficial for environmental management.

The influence of variety features of mineral feed of the durum spring wheat in Right-Bank Forest-Steppe of Ukraine. It has been established that the use of foliar top-dressing on the background of the main fertilizer has a positive effect on performance and quality of the investigated varieties. We substantiated the role of plant nutrition system that allows you to manage the formation of grain productivity crop of durum spring wheat. We optimized power mode which provides a more complete disclosure of the resource potential of the plants thereby crop yield increases.

The genus Hyssopus L. – the hyssop is a source of volatile oil whose constituents are sesquiterpene alcohols, many terpene carbonyl compounds and some acids. As documented by the cited data, volatile oil composition depends not only on the species but also on the variety, date of drug harvest and many external factors including the quality of plant nutrition. The paper summarizes the knowledge of literary sources published over ca. the last twenty years that dealt with the hyssop (Hyssopus officinalis L.); the aim is to stimulate the search for other possibilities of application of hyssop volatile oil in ecological agriculture and alternative or official medicine.
