Background: In recent years, sudden deaths of primary and secondary school students caused by sports activities have drawn great attention in education and medical circles. It is necessary for schools to monitor the physical condition of the students in order to reasonably set the duration of their physical activity. At present, the physical condition monitoring instruments used in various hospitals are expensive, bulky, and difficult to operate, and the detection process is complicated. Therefore, existing approaches cannot meet the needs of physical education teachers on campus for detecting the physical condition of students. Methods: This study designs a portable human-physiological-state monitoring and analysis system. Real-time communication between a wearable measurement device and a monitoring device can be ensured by real-time detection of the environment and power control of the transmitted signal. Results: From a theoretical point of view, the larger the number of segments M, the more significantly the reduction of false alarm probability. The simulation results also show this fact. Compared with the conventional early warning mechanism, the probability of a false alarm for the proposed system is lower, and the greater the number of segments, the faster its reaction speed. Conclusion: The portable monitoring system of student physical condition for use in physical education of primary and middle school students proposed in this paper ensures real-time monitoring of the members within the system in an open environment, and further proposes an early warning mechanism for combining multiple vital sign parameters. In addition, the proposed system functions faster; the average early warning time required is only one-quarter of that of the conventional system.

Cardiovascular disease is one of the major diseases that threaten the human health. But the existing electrocardiograph (ECG) monitoring system has many limitations in practical application. In order to monitor ECG in real time, a portable ECG monitoring system based on the Android platform is developed to meet the needs of the public. The system uses BMD101 ECG chip to collect and process ECG signals in the Android system, where data storage and waveform display of ECG data can be realized. The Bluetooth HC-07 module is used for ECG data transmission. The abnormal ECG can be judged by P wave, QRS bandwidth, and RR interval. If abnormal ECG is found, an early warning mechanism will be activated to locate the user’s location in real time and send preset short messages, so that the user can get timely treatment, avoiding dangerous occurrence. The monitoring system is convenient and portable, which brings great convenie to the life of ordinary cardiovascular users.

When rotary machines are running, acousto-mechanical signals acquired from the machines are able to reveal their operation status and machine conditions. Mechanical systems under periodic loading due to rotary operation usually respond in measurements with a superposition of sinusoids whose frequencies are integer (or fractional integer) multiples of the reference shaft speed. In this study we built an online real-time machine condition monitoring system based on the adaptive angular-velocity Vold-Kalman filtering order tracking (AV2KF_OT) algorithm, which was implemented through a DSP chip module and a user interface coded by the LabVIEW®. This paper briefly introduces the theoretical derivation and numerical implementation of computation scheme. Experimental works justify the effectiveness of applying the developed online real-time condition monitoring system. They are the detection of startup on the fluid-induced instability, whirl, performed by using a journal-bearing rotor test rig.

In order to solve the shortcomings of the landslide monitoring technology method, a set of landslides monitoring and early warning system is designed. It can achieve real-time sensor data acquisition, remote transmission and query display. In addition, aiming at the harsh environment of landslide monitoring and the performance requirements of the monitoring system, an improved minimum hop routing protocol is proposed. It can reduce network energy consumption, enhance network robustness, and improve node layout and networking flexibility. In order to realize the remote transmission of data, GPRS wireless communication is used to transmit monitoring data. Combined with remote monitoring center, real-time data display, query, preservation and landslide warning and prediction are realized. The results show that the sensor data acquisition system is accurate, the system is stable, and the node network is flexible. Therefore, the monitoring system has a good use value.

Abstract Science Applications International Corporation (SAIC) and Wilcoxon Research have developed a real-time on-board condition monitoring system for freight trains. The Office of Research and Development of the Federal Railroad Administration funded the development of the system. The system monitors bearings, wheels, trucks and brakes on freight trains in order to detect equipment defects and derailments. The objectives of the system are to improve railroad safety and operation efficiency through continuous monitoring of mechanical components on freight trains.

Abstract In the past years, the number of active users on social networking websites has increased exponentially. The popularity of these websites is due to the fact that users aren't the only content consumers (e.g., news, information, entertainment), they can also generate content and collaborate with other users. In case of the occurrence of unexpected events, such as natural disasters or human atrocities, active users can react in real time by uploading or sharing comments, photos, audio and video recordings, meaning that the amount of data generated and related to the event will be huge. These immediate and dynamic reactions of the users provide insight on the severity of the event and can help identify present or potential factors which could cause the crisis situation to destabilize. The first goal of intelligence is to obtain information on the situation's awareness. In this context, a realtime social media monitoring system can provide a snapshot of the happenings around the unexpected event, therefore it can be an open source intelligence (OSINT) platform for early warning in crisis situations. Furthermore, using intelligent technology, such as data mining, the system can support decision makers to anticipate the evolution of the crisis and take preventive actions to avoid escalating the crisis

Designing a robust condition monitoring system for a machine tool spindle is an important task because the spindle has a significant effect on the processing quality. In this study, a solar-powered wireless sensor system is installed inside the spindle and is used to monitor the machine tool processing state in real time, thereby improving the processing quality. Accelerometer sensors are employed to estimate tool wear; these sensors monitor the vibration of the spindle. The vibration monitoring data of the high-speed spindle is wirelessly transmitted to an external information device in real time. As an alternative to sensors that employ wired power transmission, a solar energy transmission system has been developed to provide the required electric power to the sensor system. The experimental results show that the proposed system successfully measures the vibration frequency of the rotational machine tool spindle.
