This paper first analyzes the reasons of complex monolithic movement of a brick-wooden building in Henan province in China. The building foundation integral underpinning technique and curved-track moving technique which combine the track sharing-monolithic movement method and efficient long distance movement method were put forward. These methods use the anchor static pile, in order to guarantee the safety of the building for complex monolithic movement. The analysis of the internal force and deformation of underpinning structure was calculated by finite element software SAP2000. A practice case showed that the internal force of the underpinning structure is less than the bearing capacity, which proved the efficiency of the proposed method.

Nonlinear numerical analysis for the force performance of frame middle joint is processed in this paper with the finite element software of ABAQUS. Compared with experimental results, numerical analysis results are found to be reasonable. Then the influence of factors such as shaped steel ratio and axial-load ratio are contrastively analyzed. The results show that shaped steel ratio has a greater influence on the bearing capacity and hysteretic performance of the structure, but the axial-load ratio has less influence.

For steel box girder of cable-stayed bridge, which using incremental launching method, during the launching process, structural system and boundary conditions were changing, structure mechanical behaviors were complex. It was necessary to conduct a comprehensive analysis on internal force and deformation of the whole structure during the launching process. Took a cable-stayed bridge with single tower, double cable planes and steel box girder in China as an example; finite element software MIDAS Civil 2010 was used to establish a model for steel box girder, simulation analysis of the entire incremental launching process was carried out. Variation rules and envelopes of the internal force, stress, deformation and support reaction were obtained. The result showed that: the maximum value of positive bending moment after launching complete was 60% of the maximum value of positive bending moment during the launching process. The maximum value of negative bending moment after launching complete was 78% of the maximum value of negative bending moment during the launching process.

As Chinese architecture masterpiece, ancient Hui-style architecture is the admiration for Chinese and foreign master builders. According to the bending test, the theoretical calculations and Abaqus finite element analysis on 5 Hui-style architecture beams, this paper points out the differences between un-reinforced beams and reinforced beams on ultimate bearing capacity, deflection and other performance indicators. The reinforcement methods of embedding steel bars, embedding CFRP bars and pasting CFRP plate can respectively improve the ultimate bearing capacity by 20.2%, 32.6% and 37.0%. Based on the plane section assumption and considering thereduction of tensile strength causedby wood knots and defects in tension zone, this paper predicts failure modes of the test beams may occur, and gives the ultimate bearing capacity of different failure modes. In addition, this paper uses the Abaqus finite element software for simulating test beams, and the development trend of load-deflectioncurve between the test and numerical simulation are in good agreement, providing reference for further research of Hui-style architecture.

Non-linear analysis of autoclaved aerated concrete (AAC) block masonry composite wall with column has been conducted using finite element software ABAQUS. First, the finite element results were verified with laboratory results of full-scale specimens. Effects of horizontal reinforcement ratio on seismic performance were investigated. The analysis indicates that shearing strength of the wall is affected by the openings greatly. Seismic performance is improved with the increase of horizontal reinforcement ratio. The effect of vertical stress on wall without openings is more than that on wall with openings. Bearing capacity of walls without openings has a linear relationship with the horizontal reinforcement ratio. And bearing capacity of walls with openings is related to the place where the reinforcements are installed as well as the horizontal reinforcement ratio.

Bearing capacity and settlement are two important parameters in geotechnical engineering. The bearing capacity of circular foundations on sandy soils is important to geotechnical practicing engineers. Design of foundations includes soil parameters and bearing capacity of foundation. This paper presents the results of laboratory experimental model tests of circular footings supported on sand deposit under static load. The finite element software Abaqus is used to compare the results. The effects of the relative density of the sand (30%, 50%, and 70%) and the diameter of circular footing (75 mm and 100 mm) are investigated. It can be concluded that the experimental test results fit quite well with the results of numerical method.

In this paper, in order to understand fully the development of failure mechanism, bearing capacity and seismic performance of the steel H-beams and composite concrete filled steel tubular (CFST) column joints strengthened by outside strengthening ring, in the space zone the effects of changing the axial compression ratio is investigated. A 3D joint finite element model is built up by finite element software ABAQUS, the elastic-plastic finite element analysis is carried through numerical modeling process. The analysis results showed that low axial compression ratio has a little influence on the bearing capacity; with the increase of axial pressure the bearing capacity will decrease in a high axial compression ratio, moreover the failure pattern of joint changes from beam end to column end. The ductility of the specimens is decreased by raising axial compression ratio.

The numerical simulation calculation on round steel-tubes reinforced with CFRP sheets was done through the large-scale finite element software ANSYS. In this research, four factors were comparatively analyzed so as to obtain the influence of them on ultimate axial tensile bearing capacity of steel-tubes. These four factors are longitudinal reinforcement length rate , thickness , elastic modulus and circumferential reinforcement ways of CFRP sheets. The results show that the ultimate axial tensile bearing capacity of steel-tubes strengthened with CFRP sheets is enhanced significantly and the reinforcement effect is very good.

The health monitoring and diagnosis of the major engineering structure is increasingly extensive attention from all the community. In particular, for the complex large-span steel roof unloading process, it is important especially. The unloading process will cause the change of structure stiffness include the internal force redistribution. The real-time and on-line monitoring have been applied to Xining stadium of the stress in the process of unloading for the purpose of structural health assessment in the paper, so as to achieve the purpose of the early warning of the problems which may arise in construction process. At the same time, through the comparison of the finite element software ANSYS analogue simulation and the value of the actual, it is obtained for the quality problem of steel structure in the process of unloading.

Combining with load bearing capacity tests, the laminated glass simply supported on four sides subjected to bending is analyzed using the finite element software ANSYS. Based on the theoretical and experimental deflection results, the accurate calculation model is established. In order to calculate the deflection of laminated glass subjected to short-time loading such as wind load based on different codes, the equivalent thickness of laminated glass based on Chinese code 2003 and European code is calculated, respectively. Finally, on the basis of many finite element analyses, load bearing capacity tests and code values, the formulas for calculating maximum deflectiont of four-sides supported laminated glass is revised in “Technical code for glass curtain wall engineering” (China) and corresponding correction coefficient is given.

By using finite element software ABAQUS, the nonlinear finite element analysis of earthquake resistance behavior of T-shaped concrete-filled rectangular composite steel tubular columns is carried out, furthermore, the analysis results and the corresponding experiment results are compared. The results indicate that the calculated value of ultimate bearing capacity is less than the experimental value, and the results of FEM analysis can match the experiment results better, and thus, it can better reflect the earthquake resistance behaviors of the specimens.
