Aims: Isolation of Isocarpine From Adenocarpus Complicatus. Background: Adenocarpus Complicatus L. is one of Adenocarpus genus which has about 50 species, from Fabaceae (Papilionaceae) family. This plant found in the Mediterranean basin as southern west part of Europe and North Afric forestes. Objective: Isolation of Isocarpine From Adenocarpus Complicatus as Anticandidal Agent method: A new piperidine alkaloid Isocarpine was isolated from the aerial parts of Adenocarpus Complicatus L., which gross in Syria. The structure of the new compound was determined by UV, IR, EI-Ms, 1H-NMR, 13C-NMR, DEPT-135, DQF-COSY and HMQC. Results: The anticandidal activity of isocarpine was screened against 38 Candida strains and showed remarkable inhibitory effect compared with fluconazole as antifungal reference drug. Conclusion: Isocarpine is antifungal agent.

A novel zinc chelate of 3-cyano-4,6-dimethyl-2(1H)-selenone pyridine was synthesized and its structure was confirmed on the basis IR, 1H NMR, 13C NMR spectral analyses and TOF mass spectrometry. Biological screening against Candida glabrata reveals a greater antifungal activity of the zinc chelate as compared to the fluconazole reference drug.

The aerial parts of three endemic Centaurea L. species, namely C. tomorosii Micevski, C. soskae Hayek and C. galicicae Micevski, afforded sesquiterpene lactone cnicin (1) and seven flavonoids: apigenin (2), isokaempferide (3), hispidulin (4), eupatorin (5), cirsimaritin (6), santaflavone (7) and salvigenin (8). The structures of the isolated compounds were determined by UV, 1H NMR and 13C NMR spectroscopy and HR-ESI-MS spectrometry. 1H NMR spectroscopy was used as a method for quantitative analysis of sesquiterpene lactone cnicin.

The Mediterranean basin is one of the regions heavily affected by jellyfish bloom phenomena, mainly due to the presence of scyphozoans, such as Rhizostoma pulmo. The jellyfish have few natural predators, and their bodies represent an organic-rich substrate that can support rapid bacterial growth with great impact on the structure of marine food webs. In Asiatic countries, jellyfish are widely studied for their health benefits, but their nutritional and nutraceutical values still remain poorly characterized. In this study, the differences in the 1H NMR spectroscopy metabolic profiles of R. pulmo female gonads and body fractions (including umbrella and oral arms), in different sampling periods, were studied. For each body compartment both lipid and aqueous extracts were characterized and their 1H NMR metabolic profiles subjected to multivariate analysis. From a statistical analysis of the extracts, a higher contents of ω-3 polyunsaturated fatty acids (PUFAs), amino acid and osmolytes (homarine, betaine, taurine) with important roles in marine invertebrates were observed in female gonads, whereas umbrella and oral arms showed similar metabolic profiles. These results support a sustainable exploitation of the jellyfish for the extraction of bioactive compounds useful in nutraceutical, nutricosmetics, and functional food fields.

: Triazoles are famous as an antifungal agent. Itraconazole and fluconazole are the best examples of antifungal drugs available in the market, which consist an active triazole moiety. Pyrimidines are also bioactive molecules which shows multiple bioactivity. It’s an effort to synthesize pyrimidine clubbed triazole to enhance bioactivity. To synthesize new active pyrimidine clubbed triazole biomolecule and to evaluate these new products for better drug potential as antimicrobial, an-tituberculosis, antimalarial, and anti-protozoal. N-[4-(substituted phenyl)-6-(substituted aryl) pyrimidine-2-yl]-2-[(4H-1,2,4-triazol-4-yl)amino]acetamide(3A-J) were synthesized by different method as cyclization, condensation, purification and crystallization. The newly synthesized compounds were characterized by IR, 1H NMR, 13C NMR and mass spectral analysis and screened for antibacterial, antifungal, anti-tuberculosis, antimalarial, and anti-protozoal activities. These com-pounds satisfied the bioactive response and simple way for the synthesis.

From the aerial parts of Premna integrifolia L., three glycosides acteoside (1), premnaodoroside A (2), and premnaodoroside B (3) were isolated. Their chemical structures were elucidated by means of ESI-MS, 1H-NMR, 13C-NMR, HSQC, HMBC spectra and in comparison with the previous literature. To our best knowledge, this is the first report of 1 and 3 from P. integrifolia.

Two known pregnane type of alkaloids, axillaridine A and spiropachysine, and an unidentified pregane alkaloid along with oleanolic acid and stigmasteryl glucoside have been isolated from chloroform extract of the aerial parts of Sarcococca hookeriana. The structures of the alkaloids are established on the basis of spectral analysis of 1H-NMR, 13C-NMR, HMQC, COSY and HMBC spectrum. All compounds were isolated for the first time from S. hookeriana. So far, species of Sarcococca was not reported to contain spiropachysine which was initially reported as a novel alkaloid from Pachysandra terminalis SIEB. et ZUCC.(Buxaceae).DOI: 10.3126/jncs.v21i0.215Journal of Nepal Chemical Society Vol.21 2006 pp.8-15

A new isoquinoline alkaloid, along with other known 4 bioactive compounds (1 isoquinoline alkaloid, 2 flavonoids, 1 coumarin), were isolated from the ethanol extract of aerial parts of Carduus crispus L. Crispine А N-oxide was newly isolated compound, two of them (quercetin and rutin) were compounds isolated for the first time from indicated plant. The structures of these compounds were elucidated and confirmed with spectroscopic methods e.g. 1H-NMR, 13C-NMR, EI-MS, COSY, HSQC, HMBC, and by comparison with literature data.DOI: http://dx.doi.org/10.5564/mjc.v12i0.178 Mongolian Journal of Chemistry Vol.12 2011: 85-87

ABSTRACTOld World cutaneous leishmaniasis is a widespread and potentially disfiguring protozoal infection that is endemic in the Mediterranean basin, Africa, and parts of Asia. Human infection is caused by several species ofLeishmaniaparasites, such asLeishmania infantum. Available systemic and topical treatments vary in efficacy and are often unjustified due to their toxicity. We report on a case that was treated with posaconazole, a drug typically considered an antifungal agent but which also targets specific metabolic pathways of the parasite.

A new flavonol glycoside, 5,4′-dimethylkaempferol 3-O-β-D-(6′′-α-Lrhamnopyranosyl) -glucopyranoside, together with three known compounds were isolated from the n-butanolic soluble fraction of underground and aerial parts of Linaria vulgaris Mill, collected on the territory of Moldova. The characterisation of these compounds was achieved by various chromatographic and spectroscopic methods (IR, UV, 13C-NMR, 1H-NMR and MS).
