In Houston the yearly influenza epidemics have been defined virologically by community surveillance obtained by testing specimens submitted from patients with acute respiratory illnesses seen by sentinel physicians. Mortality attributed to influenza and pneumonia has increased regularly during the period of intense influenza virus activity, but the peak has lagged two weeks behind the peak of activity defined by the virological surveillance. Most of the deaths occurred in persons aged 65 years and older; the average annual rate has been 103.5 per 100,000 in that age group. Hospitalizations for pneumonia and other acute respiratory conditions also peaked during influenza epidemics; the highest rate occurred in the elderly, but children under five years of age also had high rates. Morbidity in the ambulatory setting was highest in children. The average visit rate for children under five years of age was 28%; the rate decreased to about 10% for persons aged 10 years and older. Improved coverage with more immunogenic vaccines is needed to protect the elderly. Young children would benefit from universal immunization with available live attenuated vaccines.

Group therapy is a method of treatment that is carried out when a patient is met in a certain time frame with personnel who meet certain requirements. The quality of life is closely related to the environment where the elderly live. The elderly generally live with their families, but not a few elderly people live in nursing homes. There is a significant difference in the quality of life of the elderly in the UPT Social Services for the elderly and children under five in Binjai area between before and after giving group activity therapy in the intervention group with a p value of 0.008.There was no significant difference in the quality of life of the elderly in the UPT Social Services for the elderly and children under five in Binjai area between before and after giving group activity therapy to the control group with a p value of 0.317.There was a significant difference in the quality of life of the elderly in the UPT Social Services for the elderly and children under five in Binjai area between the intervention group and the control group with a p value of 0.043.

Background: Two main influencing factors of dental and oral health in developing countries are attitude and behavior.A person’s behavior is influenced by intentions, attitudes, subjective norms, perceived control. Attitudes and parentalbehaviors, especially mothers, have a significant effect on children’s behaviors, especially in maintaining dental health.A mother should be literate about and set examples on dental and oral health to her child. An epidemiological studyconducted at the Kalijudan Health Center involving 105 research respondents reported that parental behavior, especiallyperceived control, had a significant effect on the dental health care of children under five. Therefore, we created anempowerment program by using WhatsApp as the communication platform. Dentists of Kalijudan Public Health Center(Puskesmas), cadres of Integrated Health Service Post (Posyandu), and mothers of children under five have joinedthe group to facilitate QA with the dentist regarding dental health care for children. Purpose: To ease the access toinformation and consultation regarding dental health care for children under five. Methods: To empower the mothersby having discussions with the stakeholders Kalijudan Public Health Center via WhatsApp group. Results: 5 out of 10active mothers gave questions about the health of toddlers’ teeth and were answered directly by a dentist representativefrom the Kalijudan Health Center during a two-hour forum. Conclusion: Cadres and mothers of children under five wereable to access information and consult with dentists of Kalijudan Public Health Center easily via WhatsApp group namedSARASEHAN. The program was beneficial for mothers as it facilitated the mothers to learn more about their children’sdental care.

Obesity is a physical condition in the form of excess body fat that accumulates in such a way that it has a detrimental effect on health, which then increases health problems and decreases life expectancy. Obesity in children under five is caused by genetic factors, excessive diet and lack of activity. In contrast to adults, the child's weight in cases of obesity should not be reduced, because heavy shrinkage will simultaneously eliminate the nutrients needed for growth. In this study the data used was sourced from the Central Statistics Agency. The aim of the study was to determine the high and low number of cases of obesity in infants under the province using k-medoids. In Indonesia the high obesity rate consists of 25 provinces and low obesity rates consist of 9 provinces. It is hoped that this research can provide input to the government in improving socialization about the dangers of obesity in infants, so that it can increase the life expectancy of toddlers in Indonesia.

Pneumonia is one of the deadliest diseases for children under five years-old throughout the world. In Indonesia, pneumonia is the second deadliest disease after diarrhea. In 2015-2016, the Coverage of pneumonia case detection on children under five years-old increased from 22.33% to 36.06% but it had not achieved the detection target (-85%). A program evaluation needs to conduct, consequently. The evaluation aims to observe the implementation of pneumonia investigation program on children under five years-old in Sleman in 2016. The evaluation used a descriptive design performed in June-July 2017. The research subject was the program of Upper Respiratory Infection (ISPA, Infeksi Saluran Pernapasan Akut) implemented in community health centers (puskesmas, pusat kesehatan masyarakat). Twenty respondents as the sample were chosen by using the purposive sampling technique. The surveillance evaluation employed the input, activities, and output. The instruments were structural questionnaires and checklist sheets. The analysis result was presented in forms of tabulation and narration. From the input facet, 100% respondents have not had any special trainings related to pneumonia. 55% respondents have interlocking jobs with the longest service time of three years or more (75%). 70% respondents are able to show ARI Soundtimer. There are only 10% respondents holding the media of communication, information, and education (KIE, Komunikasi, Informasi, dan Edukasi) in forms of flipchart and leaflet; while 100% respondents admit that they have no stamp seal of URI. The proses facet displays that 100% respondents do not arrange any plan. The case investigation is only passive (100%). 80% respondents do socialization of case management and only 15% respondents perform a home visit. 100% respondents have not held trainings for responsible people, alert villages, and private midwives. From the output facet, the scope of case investigation is still low (36.06%).The implementation of pneumonia case investigation program on children under five years-old has been well executed but there are still weaknesses. Hence, public health offices (dinas kesehatan) should improve their human resources by arran ging a training program, equalize the use of breath counting tool and make MoU with all health services to report pneumonia cases. Community health centers are recommended to arrange plans, actively attempt to discover pneumonia cases, and train the responsible people, centers for pre-and postnatal health care (posyandu, pos pelayanan terpadu), or midwives related to the subject of pneumonia.
