This research aims to find out the meaning or nature; process; and the causal relationship between the school zoning system in the suburbs of Tulungagung Regency. This thesis was made using a qualitative descriptive approach with a multiple case study approach; to then associate research findings with several practical and empirical theories. These research objects are SMPN 2 Campurdarat, SMPN 1 Tanggunggunung, and SMPN 1 Besuki Tulungagung. The qualitative analysis technique used was the Multiple Case Study, with the research instrument interviewing with school principals and PPDB operators. This research was prepared based on several studies of the problem that the periphery school is one of the parties who benefit in implementing this zoning system compared to urban schools in Tulungagung Regency in terms of the ceiling's fulfillment. The findings of the study show that determination of the amount of ceiling in PPDB with the zoning system in schools in rural areas is following the regulations regarding the tensile strength of PPDB in Tulungagung Regency as stipulated in the Decree of the Head of the Youngest and Sports Education Office in Tulungagung Regency number: 188/1035/104,010/2019 concerning Determination of Schedule and Capability of Acceptance of New, Kindergarten, Elementary and Middle School Students in 2019/2020 Academic Year. The preparation of high human resources has well supported the process. The series of PPDB activities with the zoning system in rural areas in Tulungagung Regency has been carried out well by PPDB committees in each school. Evaluation of the implementation of PPDB with the zoning system in the outskirts of Tulungagung Regency has fulfilled aspects of effectiveness, efficiency, adequacy, equity, and responsiveness and accuracy; and an evaluation system has been carried out based on the principle of policy impact; i.e., comparing conditions before and after the policy is carried out.

PurposeThis paper explains how servitization disrupts long-established internal and external boundaries of product-focused manufacturers and investigates the root causes of servitization challenges.Design/methodology/approachThe authors draw from the collective experiences of 20 senior executives from ten multinational manufacturers involved in servitization, using a multiple case study approach, and employ a codebook thematic analysis technique.FindingsThe authors develop an integrative framework based on the theoretical notions of power, competency and identity boundaries to offer insights into the root causes of various servitization-related challenges.Research limitations/implicationsAlthough the extant literature discusses servitization challenges, it does not examine the underlying root causes that create them in the first place. This study contributes to the extant research by establishing rational links between organisational boundaries (internal and external) and servitization challenges in the interest of building a coherent and systematically integrated body of theory that can be successfully applied and built upon by future research.Practical implicationsThis study provides a foundation for managers to recognise, anticipate and systematically manage various boundary-related challenges triggered by servitization.Originality/valueIt is one of the first studies to employ the concept of organisational boundary to understand the challenges created by servitization and to account for both internal (between different functions of the same organisation) and external boundaries (between an organisation and its external stakeholders) to establish a holistic understanding of the impacts of servitization on manufacturers.

PurposeThe purpose of this study is to clarify business-to-business (B2B) firms’ strategies of social media marketing communication. The study aims to explore the factors contributing to the formation and adoption of integration strategies and identify who the B2B firms target.Design/methodology/approachA multiple case study approach is used to compare four multinational corporations and their practices. Face-to-face interviews with key managers, and extensive readings and observations of the firms’ websites and social media platforms have been conducted.FindingsThe study results in a model, illustrating different processes of selection, adoption and integration involved in the development of social media communication strategy for B2B firms. Major factors involved in determining the platform type, and strategies used within different phases and processes are identified.Research limitations/implicationsAs the chosen methodology may limit generalizability, further research is encouraged to test the model within a B2B context especially within small and medium enterprises as only large multinational corporations were investigated in this study.Practical implicationsThe paper provides insight into how B2B marketers can align social media with their firms’ goals through the strategic selection of platforms to reach the targeted audience and communicate their message.Originality/valueThe study uncovers the benefits gained by B2B firms’ through interaction with individuals on social media. This is a significant contribution as the value of such interaction was previously undefined and acted as a barrier for adopting social media in some B2B firms.

The chapter challenges the concept of undefined, infinity, and indefinite retention periods of collections in Zimbabwe's state museums and underscores the need for each state museum to develop a collections management policy. The concept of indefinitely retaining collections characterizes Zimbabwe's National Museums. In that regard, this chapter interrogates issues surrounding collections management in Zimbabwe's state museums. Museums in Zimbabwe are overburdened with inherited collections from the past with limited supporting information. This coupled with the need to store contemporary collections congests the storage space in museums. A multiple case study approach was employed to examine the state of collections in three selected state museums in Zimbabwe. Findings revealed that collections in these museums have been inherited from the past collectors who amassed collections with limited information about them. There was no formal collections management policy. The chapter proposes a regime to guide museums in dealing with their collections.

This chapter presents a cultural diagnosis of three schools of differing effectiveness states – ‘excelling', ‘mostly effective' and ‘under academic watch' within Trinidad, which face socio-economic challenges. It utilizes a multi-method, multiple case study approach and presents an adapted conceptualization of school culture, which is used as an analytical framework to diagnose the professional orientation of teachers within the cultures of the participating schools. Findings reveal that teachers' professional orientation, particularly their dispositions and psychological states, are critically important to many aspects of schooling, including students' orientations and their academic performance and achievement.
