Studies on Special Interest Tourism (SIT) have gained an increasing attention within the last decade. This article examined the potentials of attractions in Kuala Lumpur that can attract built environment professionals as a niche group of tourists. Based on analysing secondary data sourced from technical tours, tour packages and attractions promoted by different agencies, this study mapped, tabulated and examined existing buildings and sites with their unique characteristics. 58 buildings and sites showed potentials as tourism attractions for built environment professionals through technical tours. Within the last ten years, there has been growing attention to Special Interest Tourism (SIT). This article examined the sites in Kuala Lumpur that have potentials to attract built environment professionals and design enthusiasts. This study uses secondary data from technical tours, tour packages and attractions offered by various agencies. The data gathered are mapped, tabulated and analysed. The findings revealed that Kuala Lumpur has potentials to promote 58 sites in the city for Special Interest Tourism. These results may help professional bodies, destination managers, tourism operators and site/building owners to enhance and position their sites as attractions for SIT. Urbanisation, a human settlement is growing from a village to a megacity. However, there are few cases of villages, which had been lacking behind in the trend of urbanisation. For instance, Kampong Bharu (New Village) had been maintained as a village setting even though it is located within the boundary of Kuala Lumpur city. A study has been carryout to examine the residents’ well-being of the Kampong Bharu by using a questionnaire survey and statistical analysis. In general, the well-being of villages was within a moderate level. The social and economic developments were contributed to the psychological well-being of residents. Kuala Lumpur is a historical city with heritage significance for tourism destination. However, the heritage significance of the city may be challenged by several issues. One of which is the number of immigrants who have manipulated business activities in the busy street which is known as Silang Street. The issue of immigrants at Silang Street is not only on the matter of licence to operate business, but also involved the immigration aspect. This research investigates the effectiveness of photographs in enhancing, creating attachment and appreciation towards memories of historical events which took place in the former National Palace of Kuala Lumpur. Health care and hospital buildings are among the most complex construction in the built environment which comprises a broad range of utility, services, and functional units. The objectives of the study are to review the built environment performance level of the public teaching health care hospital in meeting user’s need. Three (3) public training health care hospitals in Selangor district in Malaysia are selected as a case study sample. Based on the finding the study revealed that the correlation coefficient between technical building performance and the importance of POE Guideline are positively correlated based on security, safety, and efficiency and health criteria.© 2016. This paper attempts to bring forward the idea of organizing a green event. A case study was conducted at AOS Convention and Events Sdn. Bhd. which is one of event’s company in Kuala Lumpur. Based on active participative observation and semi-structure interview it found that AOS Convention and Events Sdn. Bhd. is very committed to practice green during an event. It also found that the event’s attendees who attended the event were very satisfied with the organizing of event by the event’s organizer. Recently, Malaysia has adopted the “Safe city program”, which is focused towards creating violence and crime free cities. To achieve this, it is important to address crimes and disorder in residential areas. So far studies identified that changes in built environment and modifications in space design can impact residents and offenders’ perceptions of criminality. Various CPTED measures are employed to create defensible space. This paper examines the effect of physical design on the occurrences of crime in Taman Melati residential area of Kuala Lumpur City and tests the effects of the built environment on the possibility of crime reduction through physical planning measures. In 1880, when the British moved their Federated Malay States administrative centre to Kuala Lumpur, the Padang quickly became a symbol of British economic and administrative colonisation, and a nucleus of the socio-cultural development of Kuala Lumpur. This paper discusses the layers of history, symbolism and cultural values that the Padang contributes to the socio-cultural tapestry of both Kuala Lumpur and Malaysia, and the lack of relevant planning and heritage measures to conserve these attributes and characteristics. The back lane is often associated with annoying, disgusting, narrow and dark. This paper concerns the use of the back lanes of the old shop houses in China Town, Kuala Lumpur.  The instruments used in collecting data include observation, unstructured interview and literature review.  The use and physical characteristics of back lanes were identified.  It was found that the back lanes of China Town in Kuala Lumpur showed the success of turning back streets into lively alleys.  Thus, the back lane could be considered as part of urban design strategies and not as leftover spaces.© 2016. The extraordinary societal challenges demand cities to be innovative and adaptable to the needs of urban citizens. In the Malaysian context, the Blue-Green Infrastructure (BGI) has not been well incorporated into the ULLs. This paper seeks to address this gap by exploring the potential of the Blue-Green Urban Living Labs (BGULLs) at the Sungai Bunus catchment area. Using Google Form, survey questionnaire is conducted among professionals and the public.
