Abstract: Eyesight is one of the most useful living organisms, but visually impaired people do not realize that sense. They are unable to see the beauty of nature. Not all the problems of the visually impaired can be solved but with the help of modern technology life could be made easier for them. In this era, where everybody tends to be independent in order to survive, people with lack of visuality find it almost not possible. Blindness is a very common disability across the world. Our project is designed in order to give blind people a helping end in overcoming their daily life challenges. The “Smart Aid for Blind People” project consists of Ultrasonic sensors for detection of obstacles like a car, staircase and alert the person with the help of in-built buzzer and a voice module. It also detects the motion of the object by Sensors. We have also used vibrating motor and voice module for sending alert message to the blind person. The overall aim of the project is to provide a safety and convenience to blind people. It also presents the benefits of using this ability in everyday life and signals research projects related to the methodology of teaching echolocation in Poland. People with visually impaired to get knowledge about the world around them use information from other senses. Many studies conducted with the participation of visually impaired people indicate that data obtained through hearing are extremely important. In this context, the ability of echolocation used by blind people to move independently is interesting. Blind stick or white cane is introduced to blind people after the First World War as a mobility tool to detect the obstacles in the path of the user. This paper proposes an Arduino Nano based obstacle finding stick for visually-impaired people, which helps a blind person by detecting the obstacles using Ultrasonic sensors and android mobile application. It is able to inform the blind person about the circumstances & present condition of the path where he/she is walking. The main objective of this paper is to help a blind people to move more freely by using a reliable stick. The device consists of arduino nano, HC SR-04 ultrasonic sensor, HC-05 Bluetooth module, push buttons, 100nF ceramic capacitors and a 9V battery as the power source. And the android app is developed using MIT App Inventor 2.


Being independent in the existing world is crucial for a visually impaired person. There are about 36 million blind people all over the world. The main purpose of the project is to reduce the difficulties faced due to blindness. This proposed system hypothesizes a smart shoe that alerts visually impaired people over obstacles that could help them to walk independently with low chances of accident. Recently, many devices such as smart cane with advanced technology were introduced to assist the visually impaired for safe and independent walking. To overcome the limitation, a smart shoe is designed and developed to detect obstacles in the path of visually impaired person which will make them feel like a normal individual. This proposed system mainly focuses on LiFi technology that helps to identify the locations as they pass through the places. Introducing smart shoe which will assist them in their motion and other needed activities. It supports LiFi with reliable communication and navigation system during the dark. Information is provided as voice playback to the user. Thus, the user can navigate independently just by using the voice commands provided by the device. A wireless setup is provided at the places which are often used by the person in order to specify the person is reached the required place..

Physical disability has affected many people’s lives across the world. One of these disabilities that strongly affected some large category of people is visual lose. Blind people often face difficulties in moving around freely such as: in crossing the street, in reading, driving or socializing. They often rely on using certain aid devices to reach certain places or perform any other daily activities such as walking sticks. There are ongoing scientific researches in the area of rectifying blindness, but it has to go long way to achieve the solution. Also, there are research unleashes the ideas of assisting the blind people deficiency but lacks in technological aspects of implementation. This research project aims at helping blind people of all categories to achieve their day to day tasks easier through the use of a smart device. By using artificial intelligent and image processing, this smart device is able to detect faces, colors and deferent objects. The detection process is manifested by notifying the visually impaired person through either a sound alert or vibration. Additionally, this study presents a palpable survey that entails visually impaired people from the local community. Subsequently, the project uses both Open CV and Python for programming and implementation. The exertion of this project prototype investigates the algorithms which are used for detecting the objects. Also, it demonstrates how this smart device could detects certain physical object and how it could send a warning signal when faced by any obstacles. Overall, this research will be a positive addition in the world of health care sector by supporting blind people with the use of smart technology

Millions of people in this world can't understand environment because they are blind or visually impaired. They also have navigation difficulties which leads to social awkwardness. They can use some other way to deal with their life and daily routines. It is very difficult for them to find something in unknown environment. Blind and visually impaired people face many difficulties in conversation because they can't decide whether the person is talking to them or someone else. Computer vision-based technologies have increased so much in this domain. Deep convolutional neural network has developed very fast in recent years. It is very helpful to use computer vision-based techniques to help the visually impaired. In this chapter, hearing is used to understand the world. Both sight sense and hearing have the same similarity: both visual object and audio can be localized. Many people don't realise that we are capable of identifying location of the source of sound by just hearing it.

Changing ideas on the nature of and relationship between the senses in nineteenth-century Europe constructed blindness as a disability in often complex ways. The loss or absence of sight was disabling in this period, given vision’s celebrated status, and visually impaired people faced particular social and educational challenges as well as cultural stereotyping as poor, pitiable and intellectually impaired. However, the experience of blind people also came to challenge received ideas that the visual was the privileged mode of accessing information about the world, and contributed to an increasingly complex understanding of the tactile sense. In this chapter, we consider how changing theories of the senses helped shape competing narratives of identity for visually impaired people in the nineteenth century, opening up new possibilities for the embodied experience of blind people by impressing their sensory ability, rather than lack thereof. We focus on a theme that held particular social and cultural interest in nineteenth-century accounts of blindness: travel and geography.

Background: According to the WHO report, around 4.07% of the world's population is visually impaired. About 90% of the visually impaired users live in the lower economic strata. In the fast moving technology, most of the invention misses the need of these people. Mainly the technologies were designed for mainstream people; visually impaired people always find an inability to access it. This inability arises primarily for reasons such as cost, for example, Perkins Brailler costs 80-248 dollars for the simple purpose of Braille input. Another major reason is the hassle of carrying the big equipment. Objective: Keeping all this in mind and making technology as their best friends, MAGIC-1 has been designed. The goal is to provide a solution in terms of an application, which helps the visually impaired user in their daily life activities. Method: The proposed solution assists visually impaired users through smart phone technology. If visually impaired users ever wished to have a touched guide into a smart phone, MAGIC-1 has the solution that consolidates all the important features in their daily activities. Results: The performance of the solution as a whole and its individual features in terms of usability, utility and other metrics, etc. has been tested with sample visually impaired users. Moreover, their performances in term of Errors per Word and Words per Minute have been observed. Conclusion: MAGIC-I, the proposed solution works as an assistant of visually impaired users to overcome their daily struggles and stay more connected to the world. A visually impaired user can communicate via their mobile devices with features like eyes free texting using braille, voice calling etc. They can easily take help in an emergency situation with the options of SOS emergency calling and video assistance.

Blind people face the problem in daily life. They can't even walk without any aid. Many times they rely on others for help. Several technologies for the assistance of visually impaired people have been developed. Among the various technologies being utilized to assist the blind, Computer Vision-based solutions are emerging as one of the most promising options due to their affordability and accessibility. This paper proposes a system for visually impaired people. The proposed system aims to create a wearable visual aid for visually impaired people in which speech commands are accepted by the user. Its functionality addresses the identification of objects and signboards. This will help the visually impaired person to manage day-to-day activities and navigate through his/her surroundings. Raspberry Pi is used to implement artificial vision using python language on the Open CV platform.

Abstract There are still people with disabilities in society who consider them a burden. However, in fact, every child with special needs such as a blind people has the right to have a decent life like any other community. So, we need an orphanage for the blind people with a blind space approach that aims to provide social services to blind children by helping and guiding them towards reasonable personal development and having work skills, so that they can be independent, live properly and have responsibility, both for himself, his family, and society. This research used a qualitative descriptive method by collecting literature studies from national and international journal articles regarding the blind orphanage, collecting data related to the research location and conducting a comparative study of similar buildings in Central Jakarta. This research resulted in a blind orphanage design with a blind space in Jakarta approach that provides disability facilities for visually impaired people, educational facilities, and activity facilities for visually impaired people. It is hoped that the design of the Blind Orphanage can accommodate the activities of the Blind people in Jakarta.


-At present the currency recognition for visually impaired and blind people has becomes a vital topic for the researchers in the different applications. The money exchange is an important part of our daily life activities. But it becomes very difficult for visually impaired and blind people to recognize the currency values in the financial exchanges and they easily betrayed by the other people. Accordingly, there seems an urgent requirement to scheme a framework that is useful in recognizing paper money notes accurately. There is a huge area for currency differential detection and it has evolved over many years. The paper explores currency identification and provides a comprehensive overview of the current literature on techniques for identifying currency notes, encouraging the survey effort to provide an effective system for blind and visually impaired people
