The realities of the coronavirus crisis caused by the COVID-19 pandemic, in many cases, become decisive for adjusting the prospects for socio-economic development. The article presents the main results of studying the social aspect of the pandemic in the context of social heterogeneity and specific regional differences. The main points of the study are focused on analyzing the dynamics of the pandemic spreading in Russia’s regions, the specifics and effectiveness of social restrictions, and the transformation of social space. The analysis of the pandemic dynamics was carried out taking into account the information from four large industrial regions in the center of Russia and the Urals. As part of the analysis, a number of problematic issues of the social constraints effectiveness are considered, among which there are the following ones: specificity of the pandemic dynamics by regions in the context of various options for self-isolation, factors of «Path Dependence» of the social space, the consequences of redundant restrictions, social «fatigue» and «erosion» of requirements for isolation. From the viewpoint of updating the transformation priorities - spatial transformations during a pandemic, the following aspects are considered: background for moving from isolation restrictions to spatial transformations, regional employment specificity, socio-economic priorities of spatial transformation, problem-oriented zoning of a heterogeneous socio-economic space. The study is aimed at developing an adequate authorities’ and society’s response to the problems of coronacrisis, forming a regionally adapted set of measures and strategies of socio-economic transformations during the pandemic, creating a basis for solving interdisciplinary issues in the subsequent situation of «normality 2020».

The COVID-19 pandemic has changed dynamics in the healthcare setting, through social distancing guidelines and new protocols to promote safety for employees and patients. Although some find themselves more productive in this spread out or virtual environment, the social aspect of the work day has dramatically changed. Staying connected during the day or week comes with additional efforts to seek out opportunities to network and collaborate with colleagues with this work environment shift. Healthcare workers are already at high risk of occupational burnout. In addition, the COVID-19 pandemic has brought additional stressors to individuals outside of their workload compromising a balanced work–life integration. Consequently, personal well-being may become jeopardized due to physical, mental, and social constraints brought on by the pandemic. Mayo Clinic has implemented a joy in the workplace structure to support individual well-being and create space for healthcare workers to be energized in order to put the needs of the patient first and deliver excellent care. Joy at Mayo Clinic contributes to joy in the workplace, reduced burnout, and personal well-being.

El presente artículo tiene como objetivo caracterizar la estructura residencial del Área Metropolitana de Monterrey (AMM) e identificar las principales transformaciones socio-espaciales que ocurrieron durante la década de los noventa. A partir de la revisión de varios trabajos interesados en el análisis del espacio social de algunas ciudades mexicanas y extranjeras, se aplican los principios de la ecología factorial con dos propósitos fundamentales: 1) identificar las principales dimensiones que estructuran el espacio sociorresidencial del AMM, y 2) caracterizar los cambios en la estructura sociorresidencial en Monterrey para el periodo comprendido entre 1990 y 2000. Los resultados de estos análisis permiten identificar por un lado cierta estabilidad en la manera en que se estructura el espacio sociorresidencial, y por otro lado, observar una creciente diferenciación producto de la polarización de la población inmigrante en el espacio urbano de Monterrey. AbstractThe aim of this article is to characterize the residential structure of the Metropolitan Area of Monterrey (MAM) and to identify the principal socio-spatial transformations that occurred in the 1990s. On the basis of the review of various papers concerning the analysis of the social space of certain Mexican and foreign cities, the principles of factorial ecology are applied for two main purposes: 1) to identify the principal dimensions structuring MAM’s socio-residential space and 2) to characterize the changes in the socio-residential structure of Monterrey for the period between 1990 and 2000. The results of this analysis reveal a degree of instability in the way socio-residential space is structured on the one hand, and a growing differentiation resulting from the polarization of the immigrant population in Monterrey’s urban space on the other.

In 2015, Indonesia was faced with the high relocation intensity of dense settlements into flats. As a result, various community groups experience changes in the environment, especially children who have to face an immediate environment in the flat. One aspect of life that is affected is the social aspect which is closely related to the communal area in the flat environment. The communal area, which acts as a place for children's social interaction, consists of the physical settings and activities that exist in the area. Both influence each other. The different physical settings in a social space can cause differences in opportunities for children's social interaction. This study aims to examine the role of physical setting of the communal area towards children's social interactions that occur. The research method is qualitative with a case study approach. Observations and interviews were carried out as data collection techniques for later descriptive analysis phase. The results showed that physical settings affect how children choose areas for their interaction activities. Limits to freedom of interaction and feelings of isolation also arise due to physical limitations on physical settings of communal areas in flat towers which is influenced by the experience of children in their old environment. Welcome to the second instalment of the Language Learning Spaces: Self-Access in Action column. While the first instalment examined the process of establishing facilities, this second instalment focuses on the role learners themselves play in the ecology of a self-access centre. When the self-access movement first started, many facilities were labelled Resource Centres and centred around providing physical resources (mainly books and audiovisual materials) for self-directed learning for individuals. In recent years, the rise of the Internet, which provides easy access to learning materials and authentic audio and visual from target language countries has challenged proponents of physical self-access spaces to assert their relevance to learners (Reinders, 2012). These technological advances, in addition to the growing recognition of the social dimension of both language learning and learner autonomy (Murray, 2014), have stimulated a shift from a resource-focused approach to self-access language learning, to one which emphasises the social aspect of learning. In some cases, the term self-access has been rejected altogether, in favour of social learning spaces (Murray, Fujishima & Uzuka, 2014). The previous column in SiSAL documented one such reinvention of a resource-based self-access centre into a social space (Allhouse, 2014).

Purpose: The social aspect of leadership is often overlooked in the educational reform. This study aims to address the dearth of work in the social space around leadership and examines two different types of relational ties between leaders that capture the affective and work-related aspects of interpersonal relationships. Research Method: This study takes place in one large urban school district serving a highly diverse student population and investigates a multiplex relation—energy and work-related influence—from a longitudinal dataset to better understand the complex nature of social ties. Descriptive statistics, multilevel social network modeling, and network sociograms are used to understand the characteristics of this over-time multiplex relationship among central office and site leaders. Findings: Drawing on social network theory, efficacy, and climate, findings suggest that gender, work level, experience, efficacy, and climate are associated with leaders engaging in this multiplex relationship over time. Conclusion and Implications: Investigating the intersection of both affective and instrumental relationships provides a nuanced and more reality-based picture about a complex set of leadership ties and perceptions as they go about improving educational systems.

Abstract This article investigates the suitability of traditional and participatory planning approaches in managing the process of spatial development of existing housing estates, based on the case study of Warsaw’s Ursynów Północny district. The basic assumption of the article is that due to lack of government schemes targeted at the restructuring of large housing estates, it is the business environment that drives spatial transformations and through that shapes the development of participation. Consequently the article focuses on the reciprocal relationships between spatial transformations and participatory practices. Analysis of Ursynów Północny against the background of other estates indicates that it presents more endangered qualities than issues to be tackled. Therefore the article focuses on the potential of the housing estate and good practices which can be tracked throughout its lifetime. The paper focuses furthermore on real-life processes, addressing the issue of privatisation, development pressure, formal planning procedures and participatory budgeting. In the conclusion it attempts to interpret the existing spatial structure of the estate as a potential framework for a participatory approach.

Literasi ekologi sosial Islam adalah interaksi manusia dengan lingkungan alam, teknologi, dan sosial yang didasarkan pada prinsip dasar Islam. Rekonstruksi literasi ekologi sosial Islam yang bisa direkonstruksi adalah prinsip dasar Islam yang menegaskan posisi manusia sebagai “pemimpin” yang diberi “amanah” untuk mengelola “bumi” atau “lingkungan alam dan sumber daya alam” sebaik-baiknya. Rekonstruksi literasi ekologis inilah yang kemudian akan diaktualisasikan pada masyarakat. Proses aktualisasi adalah kegiatan aktual dalam menanamkan kesadaran ekologi sosial Islam pada masyarakat yang mana dilakukan dalam ruang sosial keluarga, masyarakat, dan sekolah yang diorganisasi oleh negara melalui kebijakan dan peraturan per undang-undangan. Dengan proses rekonstruksi dan aktualisasi yang terstruktur ini, maka negara akan aktif membangun kesadaran ekologis sosial Islam dengan aktif dan terstruktur dengan baik guna mewujudkan basis kesadaran, ilmu pengetahuan, dan tata nilai ekologi sosial Islam pada masyarakat. Literacy on Islamic social ecology is the human interaction with the natural environment, technology, and social which is based on the basic principles of Islam. Reconstruction of literacy on Islamic social ecology that can be reconstructed is a basic tenet of Islam that affirms the human position as a "leader" by "mandate" to manage "Earth" or "natural environment and natural resources" as well as possible. Reconstruction of ecological literacy is then to be actualized in society. The process of actualization is actual activity in instilling awareness of the social ecology of Islam in the society which is done in the social space of families, communities, and schools organized by the state through policies and regulations. With the process of reconstruction and actualization, then the state will actively build social-ecological awareness of Islam in order to realize a base of awareness, knowledge, and values of Islamic social ecology in society.

On the basis of the archetypic analysis of development trends of a conflictological paradigm the author’s model of minimization of conflict potential in modern society is offered. Institutional construction is the basis for model that is harmonized with a factor of societal identity.It is noted that the problems of social conflicts, according to data from monitor- ing studies of the Ukrainian school of archetype, are increasingly shifted into the sphere of interpersonal relations. It is stimulated by the progression in society of so-called self-sufficient personalities, the “subjectification” of the social space, and at the same time narrowing down to the solution of entirely specific situations in which there is a collision of the interests of two or more parties.Instead, in order to find the optimal solution for resolving the conflict, it is necessary to have interdisciplinary knowledge, in particular understanding of the deep nature of such conflicts. Collision of points of view, thoughts, positions — a very frequent phenomenon of modern social life. In order to develop the correct line of behavior in various conflict situations, it is important to adequately under- stand the nature of the emergence of the modern conflict and the mechanisms for resolving them in substance. Knowledge of conflict nature enriches the culture of communication and makes human life and social groups not only more calm, but also creates conditions for constructive development. It is proved that in modern life one can not but agree with the statement that an individual carries first re- sponsibility for his own life and only then for the life of the social groups to which he belongs. And while making decisions within the framework of modern mecha- nisms (consensus), the properties of human psychology such as extroversion, emo- tionality, irrationality, intuition, externality, and executive ability will not at least contribute to such a task.That is why in the author’s research attracted attention to the archetypal na- ture of the conflict — the primitive images, ideas, feelings inherent in man as a bearer of the collective unconscious.
