The madrasah education curriculum is imperative in the implementation of madrasah education in the Philippines. The importance of the curriculum processes and products as collection of work encompasses the significant involvement of key stakeholders in curriculum development. The purpose of this paper was to provide a detailed curriculum analysis of the Refined Elementary Madrasah Curriculum using Posner’s curriculum analysis and its implication towards the development of Philippine madrasah education. The study employed a qualitative research design mainly through document analyses and key informant interviews of program implementers. Based on the analysis, the perspective of the curriculum is to provide appropriate and relevant educational opportunities within the context of accepted cultures, customs, traditions and interests of Muslim Filipino learners. In addition, there is an attempt to contextualise the learning goals of the Philippine classroom. However, some of the participants described the curriculum as relevant but not age-appropriate. In addition, as basic tenets in designing a curriculum, there were no specific learning activities elaborately explaining the instructional strategies and course resources. Also, there was no assessment task or evaluation explicitly incorporated in the curriculum. Conversely, the institutionalisation of the Madrasah Education Program (MEP) in public school provides an opportunity to develop and ensure access to quality and relevant education among Muslim learners. The results provide baseline data in understanding the curriculum and serve as an impetus for future curriculum development of madrasah education in the Philippines.

Organizations have recognized the need to have a workforce that can give the company direction and help it adapt to continuous market changes. Many organizations have taken note of this ever-changing competitive market and implemented the Graduate Development Program (GDP) to ensure the development and consistent supply of its talent pool. Adopting a qualitative research design with research instruments that allow interaction with all key stakeholders, the objective of this paper is to assess GDP as an interventional strategy for talent management, in the context of Namibia. The study findings are mixed as it shows that current and past employees feel that the GDP implementation is not effective due to their negative perceptions about the identification of outside talent and yet the findings did reveal that the GDP has resulted in improved talent sets and an enabling environment to recruit, develop and retain staff in critical positions.

Background: Transitioning is a common phenomenon that happens such as in a career shift provoked by either internal or external factors. This phenomenon also occurs to nurses becoming lawyers. Considering its complexity, such transition entails a process.Purpose: This study aimed to describe and uncover the preparations, motivations, ad barriers of nurses who transitioned into nurse-lawyers in the Philippines. Methods: The study employed descriptive-qualitative research design utilizing twenty participants selected through purposive and snowball or referral sampling techniques. A semi-structured interview guide was used for the data collection using Google form. Braun and Clarke’s thematic analysis was utilized as the primary treatment of the transcribed data. Strict observance of ethical standards in conducting research was ensured.Results: The study found out several themes and subcategories from the thematic analysis conducted. These included (1) “pre-planning emotive expressions”; (2) “motivations of career shift”; (3) “support mechanisms to afford career shift”; (4) “barriers to career shift”; (5) “the interconnectedness of law and nursing”; and (6) “impacts of the career shift.” Conclusion: Generally, the career shift of the nurse-lawyers presented significant themes pertinent to their preparations, motivations, and barriers in becoming lawyers. Apparently, these are all primordial in the career transition of the nurse-lawyers. Essentially, the study provides preliminary findings that may become springboard in the construction of a grounded theory that would explicate the transition of the nurse-lawyers as a phenomenon uniting and expanding nursing and the practice of law as complementary sciences.

Curriculum of Early Childhood Education is a set of plans about early childhood learning goals ranging from 0 to 6 years old which intend to develop children's potential optimally. Poor of teacher attention and unfortunate infrastructure lead to unappropriate children’s potential development. The objectives of this study are to: 1) describe the form of a curriculum development model for early childhood education, and 2) describe the implementation of the curriculum model for early childhood education. This research uses a literature study method that relies on bibliographical sources from books and articles in scientific journals related to the subject matter. The results of this study indicate that: 1) the curriculum development model for early childhood education can be changed by adding, reducing and improving the curriculum regularly, 2) curriculum models for early childhood education include: a) High / Scope curriculum, b) Creative curriculum, and c) The Vygotsky Curriculum. d) The Waldorf Curriculum.

This paper is designed to address several critical issues that pertain to the development of longitudinal curricular content for use with severely handicapped students. More specifically, to emphasize: (a) the importance of the principle of partial participation; (b) the need to create a wide variety of adaptations that might allow severely handicapped students at least to participate in many environments and activities from which they have been excluded; and (c) a rationale for using current and subsequent environment orientations and ecological inventory strategies in curriculum development processes. In addition, the authors present a cursory example of how ecological inventory strategies and current and subsequent environment orientations might be combined to generate chrononogical age appropriate curricular content.

The study investigates types, sources of innovation, and corresponding challenges to commercialization among small and medium-sized industries (SMIs) in Tanzania. It employed a qualitative research design with semi-structured interview method. Findings indicate that incremental, product, and process are common types of innovations introduced. The major sources of innovations are employees, consumers, user-manufacturer lifestyles, consequential needs, and best practices by manufacturing firms. Also, it was revealed that SMIs do not follow all steps of the innovation commercialization process. Major challenges facing SMIs in the commercialization process include lack of commercialization knowledge; lack of development infrastructure and fast logistics; lack of strong university, industry, and public institutions linkage; and regulatory authorities' bureaucracy, among others. The study recommends that SMIs establish strong research and development units and collaborations with key stakeholders in order to improve identification and commercialization of innovations in Tanzania.

Constructing quality assessment rubrics can be challenging, especially when they are used for integrated, group-centered, applied learning. We describe a collaborative assessment task in which groups of second-year dentistry students developed a complex concept map. In groups of four, the students were given a written, simulated, medical history of a patient and required to construct a concept map illustrating relevant pathophysiological concepts and pharmacological interventions. This report describes a research project aimed at making educational goals of the task more explicit through investigating student and faculty member understandings of the criteria that might be used to assess the concept map. Information was gathered about the perceptions of students in relation to the learning goals associated with the task. These were compared with faculty member perceptions. The findings were used to develop an assessment rubric intended to be more accessible to learners. The new rubric used the language of both faculty members and students to more clearly represent expectations of each criterion and standard. This assessment rubric will be used in 2005 for the next phase of the project.

From 2014 to 2016, the Province of Nueva Ecija has been a constant beneficiary of the Bottom-up Budgeting (BuB) program. However, the change in administration and priority programs since June 2016 has resulted not only in the change in nomenclature from BuB to Assistance to Disadvantaged Municipalities (ADM) Program but also to the shift in focus in terms of budget share and activity options. While both programs are into breaking the cycle of poverty and empowering the local communities, there are differences among the two that needs further attention. The paper evaluates the implementation of the BuB program in the first legislative district of Nueva Ecija from 2014 to 2016 and analyzes the trend as as bases for the crafting of programs at par with the recent and future developments. The study employed descriptive qualitative research design particularly, content analysis to answer the research question. The study found out that a more responsive ADM program entails greater participation from the stakeholders such as civil society organizations with the technical guidance of the local government units.

Graduate education plays a significant role in the development and the economy of the nation. Therefore, it is significant to evaluate the program it offers as they provide relevant contributions to their graduates’ knowledge, skills, and ability in the workplace. This study explored the relevance of curriculum, instruction, and facilities of the Master in Business Administration program (MBA) at the Nueva Ecija University of Science and Technology (NEUST) to the knowledge, skills, and abilities of the graduates. Guided by Active Learning Theory, the study utilized a qualitative research design to understand the meaning and actual experience of the participants in their natural work settings. The emerging themes and recurring patterns from the interview and field notes are presented, discussed, and supported by the actual data and existing studies. The analysis showed that the curriculum, instruction, and facilities are relevant to their acquired knowledge, skills, and abilities, which are significant to their workplace. Furthermore, the university’s approach of providing actual work environment experience coupled with instructors who are experts in the field provides the relevant learning experience for the graduates. The least relevant and the least rating was given to the facilities. For the graduate education to be relevant, it needs to cope with the constantly changing and developing environment. It needs continuous enhancement and it can be done through the evaluation and feedbacks of the graduates. Future researchers might consider a more comprehensive evaluation of the graduates’ experience both quantitatively and qualitatively for future study.

The problem of corruption in the Philippines seems to be humongous as if no solution is available for its cure. This study used a descriptive and qualitative research design. It exposed the anti-corruption laws and the cases decided by the various Philippine courts. It found out that even with the existence of laws as well as the removal or the conviction of several government officials and employees, corrupt practices seem to be undeterred. The continuance of corruption in the country resulted to the promise of President Duterte to be a broken vow.
