This research aims to finding out and study the achievement and improvement off critical thinking skill off junior high school student with Problem Based Learning approach and using ordinary approach. The method used is an experimental method that involves two classes chosen at random selected classes i.e. VII A class using the Problem Baseed Learning and class VII B using a regular learning approach. The instrumen using is critical thingking skill. The results test analysis of postes data the value sig (2-tailed) is 0.002, while the test results of the difference of two average data gain, sig value (2-tailed) is 0.003. The findings in this studi were the achievement and improvement of the mathematical critical thinking skills of junior hiigh school students using the Problem Based Learning better than those using the usual approach

One of the 21st-century skills targeted in implementing the 2013 curriculum is critical thinking skills. However, the facts in junior high school students critical thinking skills are still low. An exciting and fun media is needed to improve critical thinking skills, namely a textbook with a brain-based learning approach using mind mapping. This study aims to determine the textbooks effectiveness with a brain-based learning approach accompanied by mind mapping for critical thinking. The design of the research used was one group pretest-posttest design with three meetings. The results showed an increase in learning outcomes and critical thinking skills. The results can be seen from the N-gain value of the first meeting is 0.56, with medium criteria. The second meeting is 0.58, with the medium criteria, and the third meeting is 0.65, with the medium criteria. The mean result of critical thinking from the first meeting to the third meeting were 72.57, 76.57, and 80.29 with good criteria. So it can be concluded that textbooks with a brain-based learning approach effectively improve learning outcomes and criticalthinking.

The research was conducted aimed at knowing the effect of the Problem Based Learning model with Mind Mapping techniques influencing critical thinking skills and metacognitive knowledge of junior high school students. The sample of this study was class IX in SMP Negeri 1 Ronggur Nihuta which was taken by random sampling with the number of students 62. The instrument of this research was a test. This research method is descriptive and data analysis techniques using the t test with a significance level α = 0.05. The results showed that the influence of the Problem Based Learning model with Mind Mapping techniques had an effect on students' critical thinking skills (tcount 90.66> t table 2.039); (2) There is the influence of the Problem Based Learning model with the Mind Mapping technique affecting the metacognitive knowledge of students (t count 40.68> t table 2.039). The results of this study imply that the level of critical thinking skills, metacognitive knowledge has an important role in improving the learning outcomes of junior high school students.

Curriculum 2013 aims to encourage students to think critically in the learning process, but the results of UNDP (United Nations Development Programme) in 2010 showed critical thinking skills in Indonesia is still low. This research aims to produce worksheets and supporting media that can stimulate students' critical thinking skills. This type of research is the development of models ASSURE (Analyze Learners, State Objectives, Select methods, media, and materials, Utilize Material, Requires Participation Learners, Evaluate and revise). Test subjects were students of grade IX SMP Negeri 1 Aluh-Aluh. Implementation research is to develop the initial design and media supporting worksheets, reviewed by experts (faculty) and practitioners (junior high science teacher) and tested in grade IX students of SMP Negeri 1 Aluh-Aluh. Data obtained from the test results, observations, questionnaires, and documentations. Data analyzed in descriptive and qualitative. Analysis results of students' critical thinking skills after using worksheets and supporting media, there is a very good category 12.5% of students, 59.4% good students, good enough 25% of students, and 3% poor students. Students 'response to LKS categorized 78.9% good, and the students' response to the media at 82.9% well categorized. As conclution the developed worksheet and the media support material of the solar system is able effective to stimulate critical thinking skills of junior high school students.

This research is motivated by the low ability of mathematical critical thinking and Self Regulated Cimahi 10 Public Middle School students, so that a learning approach is needed to overcome these problems. The alternative approach applied is the Brain Based Learning Model approach. The objectives of this researcher are: 1) to examine students' mathematical critical thinking skills; 2) reviewing the Self Regulated attitude of students who obtain Brain Based Learning learning with students who have expository learning; 3) examine there is a positive correlation between Critical Thinking with Self Regulated students who obtain Brain Based Learning and expository learning. The population in this study was grade VII students of SMP Negeri 10 Cimahi. The samples in this study were class VII-B (Brain Based Learning) and class VII-D (expository). The instruments used in this study were the Critical Thinking test and the student's Self Regulated questionnaire. The test used is a subjective type test (description). The way to analyze data is with IBM SPSS Statistics 18.0 for Windows. The results showed that: 1) the mathematical critical thinking ability of students who obtained learning based on the Brain Based Learning approach was better than students who gained expository learning; 2) Self Regulated attitude, students who get Brain Based Learning are better than students who get expository approach learning; 3) there is no correlation between critical thinking with Self Regulated students who obtain Brain Based Learning and expository learning.

This study aims to improve critical thinking skills through the application of a Problem Based Learning based. This research is a classroom action research conducted in two cycles with planning, implementation, observation, and reflection stages. Data collection instruments use question instruments, observation sheets, documentation, and field notes. The subject of the study was the fourth grade students of SDN 1 Muryolobo. The results showed an increase in critical thinking skills as indicated by the data in the pre cycle of 42%, in the first cycle increased by 67,23%, and in the second cycle increased by 80,72%. Increasing critical thinking skills also affects the students learning outcomes. This is indicated by the learning outcomes on Indonesian language in pre cycle, cycle I, and cycle II, are 45%, 68%, and 81%. Furthermore, the learning outcomes of IPS in pre cycle, cycle I, and cycle II are 36%, 63%, and 81%.

The research aimed to (1) analyzes the effects of model project-based learning approach on STEM (science, technology, engineering, mathematic) on science learning to junior high school student’s critical thinking skills and cooperative skills, and (2) analyze how the effects of model project-based learning approach on STEM (science, technology, engineering, mathematic) on science learning to junior high school student’s critical thinking skills and cooperative skills. The research was quasi-experimental with a non-equivalent control group design. The population was eighth-grade students of SMP Negeri 1 Berbah. The sample of the study was selected with cluster random sampling techniques and obtained grade-VIII B as an experimental class and grade-VIII C as a control class. Learning in the experimental class with a project-based learning model was STEM-oriented and the control class used a scientific approach. The data were pretest and posttest of critical thinking and observation sheets of cooperation. The analysis used the normality test, homogeneity test, MANOVA test, and effect size. The results showed that (1) there was an effect of project based learning model on STEM approach on critical thinking skills and cooperative skills of students of SMP Negeri 1 Berbah, (2) the effect of science learning project based learning model on STEM approach on critical thinking and collaborative skill was on medium category.

The study was conducted to develop science module based on project-based learning that is feasible to be implemented in science learning and has potency to build critical thinking skills of junior high school students. The study was Research and Development (RD), modified from Borg Gall steps covering only research and information collecting, planning, preliminary form of product development, expert judgment, product revision, and final product. The subjects were 2 expert lecturers (content expert and media expert) and 2 science teachers of SMP N 1 Wonosari. The types of data were quantitative and qualitative. Data were collected by means of SSP validation sheets and disaster preparedness identification sheets. The techniques of data analysis were descriptive analysis of qualitative and quantitative to 5 grading scale. The result of the study shows that science module is feasible to be implemented in science learning and has potency to build critical thinking skills of junior high school students.
