The purpose of the study was to validate an integrated model to capture factors that motivate job satisfaction and to study the relationship between Job Satisfaction and Productivity. A model considering five factors; pay, promotion, communication, co-worker and fringe benefits were developed with job satisfaction and productivity as dependent variables. Data was collected through survey questionnaire, 51 responses were received. The model could not validate the positive relationship between pay, communication and co-worker with job satisfaction. While the relationship between promotion and fringe benefits were found to be positive with job satisfaction. The relationship between job satisfaction and productivity was also found positive and statistically significant.

Increased globalization and competition in most industries has greatly changed the execution of different duties and responsibilities most especially the flow of communication in businesses. This has further affected the level of trust in most businesses most especially among the employees and between the business and customers. The main objective of the study was to investigate the effect if business communication and business trust on business growth. Data was collected using an online survey questionnaire from 100 employees of Intrasoft International in Greece. Data collected was analyzed using SPSS and Pearson’s rank correlation coefficient was based on to establish the relationship between variables. The level top which the independent variables predict the dependent variables was established using regression analysis. The study established a positive relationship between business communication and business. A significant and positive relationship was also confirmed between business trust and business growth.

Performance problems in public sector organisations in South Africa may be partially attributed to employee-related factors, including low job satisfaction levels. This study set out to examine factors influencing the job satisfaction of employees in a South African public sector organisation. A two-section survey questionnaire was administered to 246 government employees based in the Gauteng province of South Africa. The data were analysed using descriptive statistics of the sample and factor analysis to establish the factors that contributed to the job satisfaction of public sector employees. Reliabilities were measured with the aid of Cronbach’s alpha. Five underlying factors that contributed to job satisfaction, namely working conditions, ability utilisation, teamwork, creativity and autonomy were identified. Among these factors, teamwork emerged as the highest contributor to respondents’ job satisfaction. The findings suggest that to enhance employee job satisfaction levels, managers in public organisations should pay particular attention to each of the five factors identified in this study. This could be a solution to improving employee relations as well as meeting the performance challenges that currently face public organisations in South Africa.

Objective - The main aim of the present study is to find the effects of work life balance of the women journalists of south Tamil Nadu on their level of job satisfaction. Methodology/Technique - The data were collected keeping in consideration features such as age, monthly income and marital status. A total of 250 women journalists from south Tamil Nadu were selected for the study. The selected method for sampling in this research is convenient sampling. Data were collected using primary sources, well-structured questionnaire was used. Primary data were collected through questionnaires. The data were analyzed using IBM AMOS 21. Findings - The results conclude that there was a positive relationship between the independent and the dependent variables. The SEM results show that work life balance dimensions are the reliable predictors of job satisfaction. This study concludes that key to work-life balance will fluctuate contingent upon field of work, family structure and monetary position. Individual life and expert work are two sides of a coin which is hard to isolate and structure a wellspring of contention. Novelty - The results conclude that there was a positive relationship between the independent and the dependent variables. This study empirically examines the relationship between rewards, job satisfaction, Perceived training effectiveness, knowledge transfer and organizational commitment and employee’s motivation in the Public sector of Bahawalpur (Punjab, Pakistan).Our sample was public sector data was collected by using self-designed questionnaires. The sample size was 170 so 170 questionnaires were distributed and only 149 received. Analysis was done with the help of correlation coefficient and multiple regression analysis. Between (0.01 to 0.05) level of significance was checked. The result concludes that there is a significant positive relationship between intrinsic rewards and the employee’s motivation and also there is significant positive relationship between extrinsic reward and employee’s motivation. Job Satisfaction also has significant positive relationship with employee’s motivation. But on the other hand PTE (Perceived Training Effectiveness) have insignificant and negative relationship with Employee’s motivation. Employee’s motivation has significant positive relationship with knowledge transfer and also with Organizational Commitment.

AbstractThis study examined whether everyday conversational humor is related to job satisfaction, and if the relationship is mediated by positive affect. We also explored differences between the roles of humor production and humor appreciation, and tested the cyclical nature of the relationship by examining whether job satisfaction stimulates subsequent humor. Data were obtained through an experience sampling study in which participants completed two brief surveys each day for 10 consecutive workdays (Level 1 n=237–279, Level 2 N=35). Results revealed a positive relationship between humor and job satisfaction that was partially mediated by positive affect, and also indicated that job satisfaction on day

The study investigates the relationship between CEO compensation and performance of State Owned Enterprises (SOEs) in South Africa, using data for the period 2009 to 2011. The results indicated that there exist no positive relationship between CEO compensation and SOEs performance as measured by return on assets. The results also indicated a positive relationship between CEO compensation (base salary) and the size of SOEs as measured by total revenue and number of employees. The results suggest that board members of SOEs in South Africa should hold CEOs accountable for the performance of SOEs, and should not pay huge salaries and bonuses to non performing CEOs.

This study investigates the relationship between fringe benefits and employee’s job satisfaction. More specifically, following variables were taken as fringe benefits (i) Health Protection Benefits, (ii) Recreation Leaves, and (iii) Flexible Working hours. The primary data is gathered through questionnaire from the sample size of 200 respondents based on non-probability convenience sampling technique. The results were later analyzed through exploratory factor analysis and multiple regression. This study showed positive and significant relationship of Recreation Leaves and Health protection benefits on job satisfaction whereas in case of flexible working hours, the relationship seems to be insignificant. Through results, it may be concluded that if a good number of leaves and a good health Protection plan is provided by the employer, the employees tend to be more satisfied and committed towards their job. Whereas, flexible working hours does not much contribute much towards their level of satisfaction towards job. This study might help employers in Pakistan to add commendable benefits programs to their schedule in order to retain their loyal employees and increase firm’s productivity.

PurposeThis study examines the mediation role of diversity climate in the relationship between transformational leadership, transactional leadership and job satisfaction from the two-factor perspectives of intrinsic and extrinsic job satisfactions among local government servants in Ghana.Design/methodology/approachThe study uses cross-sectional data from 322 employees in local government service of Ghana in the Greater Accra Region using purposive and stratified sampling methods. Bootstrapping method of mediation estimated using structural equation modelling is employed to test the hypothesized relationships.FindingsThe results find a differential effect of leadership behaviours on intrinsic and extrinsic job satisfaction, where transformation and transactional leadership relate positively to intrinsic and extrinsic job satisfaction respectively. Furthermore, the empirical findings reveal that diversity climate has mediated the relationship between transformational leadership and intrinsic job satisfaction, implying that diversity climate is an important process through which transformational leadership behaviours can elicit intrinsic job satisfaction among local government servants. Surprisingly, however, diversity climate does not serve as an important transmission mechanism in the relationship between transactional leadership and extrinsic job satisfaction.Practical implicationsThis means that public sector leaders or managers can improve intrinsic job satisfaction among local government servants and by extension public sector employees by creating an ideal climate for diversity by transforming the work environment through leadership, specifically, transformational leadership behaviours.Originality/valueAlthough studies abound on the link between leadership behaviours (transformational and transactional) and job satisfaction, the mediating effect of diversity climate as a mechanism in this relationship is very scarce and rare to find. Hence, our study has made original contributions to theory and practice by highlighting the role of diversity climate in converting leadership behaviours, specifically; transformational leadership into creating intrinsically satisfied workers in the public sector.

The relationship between Entrepreneurial Attitude Orientations (Robinson, Stimpson, Huefner & Hunt, 1991) and different biographic/demographic, personality and work related variables were investigated. The sample consists of 375 professionals, 200 pharmacists and 175 accountants. The personality variables measured are Type A behaviour, Locus of Control Inventory, Career Orientations and Self-Concept. The work related variables are job satisfaction and job involvement. Some strong relationships were found between entrepreneurial attitudes and personality and work variables. Multiple Regression Analyses also identified strong predictors of the different entrepreneurial attitude dependent variables.

Orientation: This rapidly changing world requires local government institutions to focus on positive work-related states to enhance quality service delivery.Research purpose: The main objective of this article was to explore how individual traits and psychological strengths (i.e. adult state hope, meaning in life and work locus of control) moderate or mediate the relationship between job satisfaction and organisational commitment in a Botswana local government institution.Motivation for the study: The emergence of the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic forced employers to rely on the foundations of positive organisational psychology to navigate employee well-being more effectively during times of unprecedented crisis.Research approach/design and method: A quantitative research approach was followed. An adapted Minnesota job satisfaction questionnaire, organisational commitment questionnaire, adult state hope scale, meaning in life questionnaire and work locus of control scale were distributed to public sector officials of a Botswana local government institution (N = 405).Main findings: Adult state hope, meaning in life and work locus of control partially mediated the relationship between job satisfaction and organisational commitment.Practical/managerial implications: Management should create a workplace culture that can promote job satisfaction amongst public officials. Job satisfaction influences essential individual and outcomes organisational in public sector institutions.Contribution/value-add: This research is original and provides evidence for the use of positive psychology constructs (i.e. adult state hope, meaning in life and work locus of control) combined with job satisfaction to enhance organisational commitment.
