Nowadays, due to the huge deterioration of the environment, not only human beings but also the day-to-day business environment suffers adversely. Hence, the “Go Green” behaviour becomes a globally accepted direction of every individual and business. “Go Green” is an earth-friendly living approach and banks play a decisive role in safeguarding the environment to make our livelihood better. As there is an emerging trend to update traditional banking system with green banking strategies in the modern banking system, bank employees are directed to play a vital behavioural role (Norton, Parker, Zacher, & Ashkanasy, 2015) to keep better banking practices, more environmentally friendly, to have bank sustainability performance. Therefore, this study critically examines the relationships between Green banking practices (GBP), Employee green behaviour (EGB), and Sustainability performance of banks (SPB) in the Sri Lankan context. This study specifically examines the mediating role of EGB in the relationship between GBP and SPB. The results confirm the partial mediation role of EGB in the relationship between GBP to SPB. Moreover, both direct and indirect effects of mediation analysis reveal the same direction, significantly. This study becomes vital for understanding the mediating role of EGB, empirically between GBP and SPB.

Organizations operating in the intensive knowledge-based sector seek efficient management approaches and sustainable development practices to perform efficiently in the dynamic business environment. Knowledge management practice and organizational learning are significant factors in order to achieve sustainable organizational performance in a rapidly changing business environment. Based on the scientific literature analysis, there is still a lack of evidence related to the mediating role of the whole knowledge management cycle, including the five knowledge management processes (knowledge acquisition, creation, storage, sharing, and application) in the relationship between organizational learning and sustainable organizational performance for organizations operating in intensive knowledge-based sectors. This study aimed to examine the impact of the whole knowledge management cycle on the relationship between organizational learning and sustainable organizational performance in intensive knowledge-based sectors, specifically the audit and consulting companies in the Middle East region. Systematic scientific literature analysis, expert evaluation (structured questionnaire), and structural equation modeling (SEM) technique were used to develop and verify the research model. Data was collected through a structured questionnaire distributed among auditing experts working in a knowledge-based sector—audit and consulting companies in the Middle East region. The research results supported the hypotheses stating that organizational learning positively affects knowledge acquisition, storage, sharing, application processes, and sustainable organizational performance. However, the results verified that organizational learning has an insignificant impact on the Middle Eastern audit and consulting companies’ knowledge creation process.

PurposeIntrapreneurship is gaining traction in organizations to buckle up for the dynamic business environment. Scholars have argued that intrapreneurship increases positivity at work and helps employees attach themselves better with their job. However, empirical evidence suggests that these relationships do not exist. The objective of this paper is to examine the mediating role of psychological capital (PsyCap) in the relationship between intrapreneurship and work engagement.Design/methodology/approachData were collected through an online survey. Responses from 309 employees working in different industries in India were analysed. Structural equation modelling (SEM) was used to analyse the hypothesized relationships.FindingsThe results show that there exist positive relationships among intrapreneurship, psychological capital (PsyCap) and work engagement. Further, it was observed that the PsyCap partially mediates the relationship between intrapreneurship and work engagement.Practical implicationsManagers may not only encourage intrapreneurial behaviour in their organizations but also ensure that the employees are psychologically capable (high on PsyCap). It would enable the employees to engage themselves wholeheartedly into their work.Originality/valueTo the best of the authors' knowledge, this study is one of its kinds to relate intrapreneurship with PsyCap and work engagement.

The knowledge-based view (KBV) in the development of small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) is a debatable topic in the current literature. Although convergence of technological and financial literacy (techno-finance literacy) is an essential knowledge-based tool to address rapid digitalization of business, the influence of techno-finance literacy in the development of SMEs is still not adequately researched. Drawing upon KBV, we developed a single-mediator structural model with an aim to explore the effect of techno-finance literacy and enterprise risk management (ERM) practices (applications) on the performance of SMEs. A self-administered structured questionnaire was employed to collect data from 319 chief financial offers (CFOs) in Sri Lankan SMEs. The outcome of our study highlights that techno-finance literacy is a significant determinant of two endogenous constructs, namely, SME performance and ERM practices. Furthermore, ERM practices of SMEs were also positively affected to the SME performance. Moreover, ERM practices were observed to have a partial mediation on the relationship between financial literacy and SME performance. These findings form the basis for theories in techno-finance literacy and SME performance, as well as present managerial implications to enhance the performance of SMEs.

Purpose The purpose of this paper is to investigate the interrelationship between trust, socialization, and information sharing on the buying firm’s innovation capability in the context of the buyer-supplier relationship (BSR). A nomological model is developed that examines the mediating role of relational capital (supplier trust) on the relationship between structural capital (socialization and information sharing) and innovation capability. Design/methodology/approach A survey was conducted on 357 US executives. Structural equation modeling was used to analyze the hypothesized relationships. Findings Information sharing and formal socialization activities increased the buying firm’s trust in its key supplier. However, formal socialization activities within the context of the business environment did not have a significant direct impact on buyer’s innovative capabilities; but when mediated by trust, it positively impacted innovation capabilities. Informal socialization within the context of the social environment directly impacted innovation capabilities but trust did not mediate the relationship. Information sharing impacted trust and innovation significantly and trust mediated the impact of information sharing on innovation capabilities. Originality/value This study defines the formal and informal aspects of socialization and investigates its impact on trust and buyer innovation capabilities. This is one of the few studies that highlights the mediating role of trust between firms to facilitate innovation capability.

AbstractFor this research, we examined the influence of access to domestic and international financing on sustainability performance with a mediating role of innovative performance and a moderating role of access to government support. Data were collected from 317 small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) through structured questionnaires. The results indicated that access to domestic and international financing significantly contributes to sustainability and innovative performances. Accordingly, we found a partial mediating role of innovative performance between access to domestic financing and sustainability performance as well as between access to international financing and sustainability performance. Access to government support significantly moderates the relationship between access to domestic finances and innovative performance as well as between access to international finances and innovative performance. Practitioners and policymakers should encourage national and international financial institutions and banks to facilitate SMEs by lending them funds for innovative activities and sustainability performance. Moreover, the government should support SMEs, so that they can contribute to economic growth and the gross domestic product. The implications from these matters will be further discussed in this paper.

Purpose The purpose of this paper is to empirically examine the mediating role of decentralization in the relationship between a firm’s strategy and its performance in the context of an advanced economy where the chief corporate strategy is differentiation. Design/methodology/approach The study uses data collected by an online survey targeting a stratified sample of 1,238 private firms operating in Denmark. The empirical analysis was carried out by estimating a structural equation model. Findings The key finding was that a decentralized organization (DO) can act as a mediator between a firm’s differentiation strategy and its performance. A multi-group analysis revealed that the mediating impact of decentralizing was affected by contingency factors such as firm size, strategic clarity, degrees of business environment risk and industry competition. Thus, a DO can be said to play a more important role in larger firms, in firms with less strategic clarity, and in companies with multiple plants. Research limitations/implications Although the study offers empirical evidence from a relatively large and representative sample of firms, the specificity of the context should be noted. In particular, firms in Denmark, while facing strong competition, do not compete with low costs. Clearly, studies of the mediating role of decentralization in low-cost strategy environments would be an important next step. Practical implications Several implications of the findings for organizational design and creation of beneficial conditions for strategy implementations are discussed. Originality/value The novel contribution of the study lies in the focus on decentralization as a mediator in the strategy–performance relationship. While previous research has shown that strategy is related to decentralization, and that decentralization is associated with higher performance, an empirical analysis of the relationship between the factors in the strategy-decentralization-performance path had not previously been undertaken.

The purpose of this study is to investigates the effect of organisational culture on the sustainable growth of SMEs; mediating role of innovation competitive advantage. The electrical products small and medium enterprises was the realm of this study. The partial least squares structural equation modelling (PLS-SEM) via SmartPLS was employed to test the hypotheses. Finding of this study revealed that organisational culture has a direct positive significant effect on sustainable growth of SMEs and innovation competitive advantage. Moreover, the study confirmed that innovation competitive advantage has a direct positive significant relationship with sustainable growth of SMEs. Furthermore, the findings established that innovation competitive advantage has fully mediates the relationship between organisational culture and sustainable growth of electrical manufacturing SMEs in Nigeria. This study sets out purposeful measures to encourage owner-mangers of the electrical manufacturing SMEs to maintain as well as installing innovative organisational culture that enhance efficient sustainable growth of SMEs and embedding innovation competitive advantage as a viable strategic mechanism in the enterprise. This study is distinctive because it tries to fill the small and medium enterprises gaps through encouraging managers of the electrical manufacturing SMEs to always strategize for better sustainable growth in the rapidly changing business environment. Introducción: La adicción al Internet se ha relacionado con la autoestima, y el sentido de la vida con ambas variables, porque se debe explorar su rol mediador. Objetivo: Analizar la relación entre la adicción al Internet y la autoestima en adolescentes mexicanos.Metodología: Se efectuó un estudio descriptivo y correlacional con una muestra de 238 estudiantes seleccionados por muestreo no probabilístico por conveniencia. Se utilizaron una cédula de datos personales, la escala de autoestima de Rossemberg, el test de adicción al Internet y el test de sentido de la vida. Se apegó a lo dispuesto en el Reglamento de la Ley General de Salud en Materia de Investigación para la Salud en Seres Humanos en México y a la declaración de Helsinki. Resultados: La adicción al Internet se relacionó negativa y significativamente con el sentido de la vida (rs=-.359, p= <.001) y con la autoestima (rs=-.426, p=<.001). El sentido de la vida mostró un efecto mediador entre la autoestima y la adicción al Internet (B= -.188, SE= .066, 95% IC [-.320, -.056]). El sexo tuvo un efecto moderador entre la autoestima y la adicción al Internet siendo significativo en ambos sexos.Conclusión: La autoestima y el sentido de la vida pueden predecir una disminución de la adicción al Internet. Así mismo, el rol de género puede presentar variaciones con respecto a los puntos de vista y forma de pensar y moderan la relación entre la autoestima y la adicción al Internet. variables because its mediating role should be explored. The study adhered to the provisions of the Regulations of the General Health Law on Research for Health in Human Beings in Mexico and the declaration of Helsinki.Results: Internet addiction was negatively and significantly related to the meaning of life (rs = -.359, p ≤.001) and with self-esteem (rs = -.426, p ≤ .001). The meaning of life showed a mediating effect between self-esteem and Internet addiction (B = -.188, SE = .066, 95% CI [-.320, -.056]). Sex had a moderating effect between self-esteem and Internet addiction, being significant in both sexes.Conclusion: Self-esteem and meaning of life can predict a decrease in Internet addiction. Likewise, the role of gender can present variations with respect to points of view and way of thinking and moderate the relationship between self-esteem and Internet addiction.

Purpose: The aim of this study was to investigate the mediating role of knowledge sharing on social capital and product innovation among tourism SMEs in Zimbabwe. Design/methodology/approach: A quantitative approach was adopted in this study and data was collected using an online survey, from owners and managers of small and medium enterprises in the tourism industry. The respondents were drawn using a simple random sampling technique from a database created and maintained by the Zimbabwe Tourism Authority of Sanganai/Hlanganani World Tourism Expo participants. Covariance-based structural equation modelling was used to analyse the data and test the hypotheses proposed. Findings: The study found that both interorganisational trust and social reciprocity enhance product innovation in the tourism sector. It was also revealed that knowledge-sharing capability partially mediates the relationship between interorganisational trust and social reciprocity and product innovation. Research limitations/implications: By focusing on interorganisational trust and social reciprocity, this study was limited to the relational dimension of social capital, and this offers scope for future research. More research needs to be undertaken to explore the role of interorganisational trust and social reciprocity across other dimensions of social capital other than the relational attributes. It is also necessary to conduct longitudinal studies to capture variations in time and across sectors using more robust measures. Originality/value: The study expands on the existing line of scholarly work by providing a social dimension of the antecedents of product innovation. The findings suggest in the wake of resource limitation, firms in Zimbabwe may rely on interorganisational trust and social reciprocity to foster superior product innovation. In this knowledge-intensive business environment, this study also adds value by providing empirical evidence for the mediating role of knowledge-sharing capability in the relationship between interorganisational trust and social reciprocity, and product innovation.

Small and medium enterprises are vital components for economic growth globally. Similarly, the Malaysian manufacturing SMEs has contributed greatly in developing Malaysia’s economy. However, higher failure rate of the Malaysian SMEs is a great concern among researchers and government bodies. Currently, the industry 4.0 has changed the business environment globally. Therefore, this study attempts to investigate the relationship of ownership structures on firm performance with a mediating role of innovation. Baron and Kenny approach of mediation analysis was used on the sample of the Malaysian manufacturing SMEs. The results revealed that, majority SMEs prefer traditional business methods, which causes the higher failure rate in the industry.
