Indigenous chickens contribute towards poverty reduction, income generation and economic empowerment of rural women. In this regard, employment of a profitable pricing strategy in selling the indigenous chickens becomes fundamental. This study sought to find out the pricing strategies used by rural women indigenous chicken breeders in one purposively selected village in Zimbabwe. An interpretivist paradigm, a qualitative approach and a case study design were employed to examine the issue under review. Seventeen rural women indigenous chicken breeders were key informants. Data collected using semi structured questionnaires and face to face interviews was analysed to discern themes. Results revealed that rural women indigenous chicken breeders did not apply any pricing strategies when selling their chickens. Prices were approximated based on mainly the weight of the chickens. The study concluded that rural women indigenous chicken breeders were ignorant of pricing strategies and factors to consider when determining, prices for their chickens. Further to that, ignorance of appropriate pricing strategies exposed rural women indigenous chicken breeders to exploitation and loss of revenue. In light of this, the study recommended that workshops be conducted by personnel with an accounting background, to train rural women indigenous chicken breeders on the factors to consider in determining profitable prices for their indigenous chickens. The contribution of this study lies in the development of a framework of factors which rural women indigenous chicken breeders could use as a reference point when determining prices for their indigenous chickens.

The purpose of this study is to classify costs that an be included in the calculation of production using target costing precisely and determine the pricing strategy and the price that should be set by PT XYZ. The method used is qualitative research. This study concludes that the use of pricing strategies implemented by PT XYZ is inefficient, because in determining product prices, PT XYZ didn’t use target costing calculations, so the company doesn’t know how much costs must be spent to produce or run their services. By using target costing and target pricing, the company can make cost adjustments in order to remain competitive in the market. Furthermore, in determining the price, the company must decipher costs are incurred to run a service. The use of the most appropriate pricing strategy in determining new advertising prices in the industry is to use cost-based pricing. But if the company has already prices set, then it’s best for company to use customer’s value based pricing.

The study analyzes the correlation between the year of study of the dormitory residents and the preferred pricing strategy. It uses an online survey for LCC International University students who were enrolled for the 2015-2016 academic year. A fixed choice set analysis is performed to analyze 126 valid responses. The results show that 42.4% of the respondents prefer an a la carte pricing strategy, contrary to the currently limited choice pricing strategy employed by LCC residency halls. Additionally, the study finds out that the residents are more likely to switch their preference from a bundled pricing strategy to an a la carte pricing strategy the higher their year of study is. Resident preferences for pricing strategies can provide dormitory operators with valuable information on establishing best pricing structures.

The Department of Music Education, University of Education Winneba (UEW), trains students to acquire the skill of playing some Western instruments such as the keyboard, guitar, winds and orchestral strings. Furthermore, students also receive training in playing Ghanaian traditional instruments such as the atenteben and the various traditional drums of the existing ensembles. This practical teaching also include singing, dancing and ensemble making to allow all students perform their instruments in an ensemble. Unexpectedly, training in these instruments and ensembles was despaired by measures to contain the spread of Covid-19 pandemic. While theory courses in music were conducted via platforms such as Moodle, Google Classroom, the University’s Virtual Class (VClass) and Zoom, the exploratory case study design was used to seek technological means to conduct practical lessons which almost came to a halt as a result of its face-to-face teaching nature. Reviewing literature on technologies for teaching and Covid-19, the study which was based on Technological Pedagogical Content Knowledge (T-PACK) model unearthed means to conduct practical lessons. Lecturers, instructors, technicians and students of the Department were interviewed to organize their opinions on how to conduct practical lessons amidst Covid-19 restrictions. The study divulged innovative technological means to situate software programmes and applications such as Zoom, Google Classroom, Moodle, Microsoft Meet, Team Viewer, WhatsApp and Facebook for practical lessons.

The study investigates the power and potentials of face to face (F-2-F) conversation as a medium of knowledge exchange among software engineers in the context of a high-tech laboratory of a Fortune 100 corporation. This research is based on a qualitative case study design. A number of reasons underlying the preference for F-2-F interaction to transfer knowledge are identified. The analysis also provides evidence that software engineers also face difficulties in using F-2-F conversation as a medium of knowledge exchange. Such findings may be useful to managers and practitioners as the paper proposes an integrated approach where an organization can use both F-2-F and computer-mediated mechanisms simultaneously in a balanced manner.

In this chapter, a case study of women entrepreneurs provides the avenue to understand the challenges of poverty reduction and social change at the grassroots level, particularly in rural areas. This case is first among three cases that are worth noting in this book because this case exemplifies women entrepreneurs in a rural setting, where they mobilize groups of women to transform their household and community, to help impoverished Tanzanian rural women increase earnings and autonomy through nonfarm business. From these perspectives and lessons garnered, there is a tacit but general agreement that women's economic role at the local level is critical for development and that women entrepreneurs are a great resource in the Sub-Saharan Africa region.

Microcredit has been regarded as a key strategy in poverty reduction and women empowerment. This study examined the experience of microcredit receivers under the Bangladesh Rural Development Board (BRDB). A qualitative case study was conducted through fieldwork and data were collected from the members of IRWDP (Integrated Rural Women Development Programme) known as Bagbari Manipuri Samithy, Sylhet. The study revealed that the programme among indigenous women is operating smoothly. Most of the beneficiaries have a positive experience with the credit system. They contribute earning to their family and have become an important decision-maker in their family. However, some dissatisfaction among the members still exists. The members do not receive need-based training to adapt to their livelihood. Thus initiatives need to be taken to identify the story behind the participants’ success and to overcome the associated problem.

Faculty work now includes market-like behaviors that create research, teaching, and service opportunities. This study employs an embedded case study design to evaluate the extent to which faculty members interact with external organizations to mitigate financial constraints and how those relationships vary by academic discipline. The findings show a similar number of ties among faculty members in high- and low-resource disciplines, reciprocity between faculty members and external organizations, and an expanded conceptualization of faculty work.
