Although the Structured Query Language (SQL) is a very powerful tool, it is unable to satisfy needs for data selection based on linguistic expressions and degrees of truth. The goal of the research whose results are presented in the paper is to capture these expressions and make them suitable for queries. For this purpose the fuzzy generalized logical condition for the WHERE part of SQL was developed. In this way, queries based on linguistic expressions are supported and are accessing relational databases in the same way as with the SQL. Fuzzy query is not only a querying tool; it improves the meaning of a query and extracts additional valuable information. Statistical data about districts of the Slovak Republic are used in the case study. Fuzzy approach has some limitations that would appear in a querying process. These limitations and ideas how to solve them are outlined in this paper.

Structured Query Language (SQL) is used to obtain data from relational databases. Fuzzy improvement of SQL queries has advantages in cases when the user cannot unambiguously define selection criteria or when the user wants to examine data that almost meet the given criteria. In this paper we examine a realization of the fuzzy querying concept. For this purposes the fuzzy generalized logical condition for the WHERE part of the SQL is created. It allows users to create queries by linguistic terms. The proposed model is an extension of the SQL so that no modification inside databases has to be undertaken.

The topic presented in this chapter refers to qualifying objects in some kinds of vague queries sent to relational databases. We want to compute a fulfillment degree in order to measure the quality of objects when we search them in databases. After a discussion on various kinds of object linguistic qualification, with different kinds of fuzzy conditions in a fuzzy query, a new particular situation is proposed to be included in this subject: the relative object qualification as a query selection criterion, that is, queries with two conditions in which the first one depends on the results of the second one. It is another way to express the user’s preferences in a flexible query. In connection with this, a new fuzzy aggregation operator, AMONG, is defined. We also propose an algorithm to evaluate this kind of queries and some definitions to make it applicable and efficient (dynamic modeling of the linguistic values and unified model of the context). We demonstrate these ideas with software already implemented in our lab.

Abstract This paper discusses the Al Capone case and identifies legal institutions which contributed to the conviction of Al Capone for tax evasion in the USA and discusses similarities in Slovak law. The Slovak legal environment is assessed with the aim of identifying potential room for improvement. Under an assumption of identical factual circumstances, it is tested whether Al Capone would be convicted of tax evasion in the Slovak Republic and if not, what would be the main reasons. The paper concludes that due to some, probably unintentional, specifics of Slovak tax and criminal law, Al Capone could not be convicted of tax evasion by the Slovak courts. In our opinion, these specifics do not, however, constitute material elements of the basic structure of Slovak tax and criminal law and could be relatively easily corrected.

Purpose – This paper aims to investigate the ways that could enhance residents’ social interaction in low-rise residential building neighbourhoods of Basra city in Iraq. The lack of social interaction among residents of Basra city prompted the authors to frame a strategy for this case study. Design/methodology/approach – The spatial design characteristics of low-rise residential building neighbourhoods implicated to support the residents in terms of social interactions in comparison to those exhibited by a single home and traditional neighbourhoods. The statistical data demonstrated that by using this strategy, several unique features of secured, collective, responsive and supportive spaces could enhance the residents’ social interaction. Findings – This study found that all collective space factors have a significant influence on social interaction. “Fostering proper proximity and accessibility” factor was ranked first and the most significant factor with an influence on social interaction. Secured spaces (hierarchical spatial structure, physical security supports and construct) have a significant influence on social interaction. The most interesting finding in this study is that all factors of the supportive spaces construct have a significant influence on social interaction. Finally, this study showed that two factors of the responsive spaces construct, increasing variety and increasing legibility, have an insignificant influence on social interaction. Originality/value – The design of low-rise residential building neighbourhoods in Basra city may be used to develop social interaction as the contributing factor for maintaining values of traditional neighbourhood communities. This study highlights certain recommendations for architects, especially urban designers, to reinforce residents’ social interaction in low-rise residential building neighbourhoods in Basra city.

Nowadays, most organizations need to improve their decision-making process using Big Data. To achieve this, they have to store Big Data, perform an analysis, and transform the results into useful and valuable information. To perform this, it's necessary to deal with new challenges in designing and creating data warehouse. Traditionally, creating a data warehouse followed well-governed process based on relational databases. The influence of Big Data challenged this traditional approach primarily due to the changing nature of data. As a result, using NoSQL databases has become a necessity to handle Big Data challenges. In this article, the authors show how to create a data warehouse on NoSQL systems. They propose the Object2NoSQL process that generates column-oriented physical models starting from a UML conceptual model. To ensure efficient automatic transformation, they propose a logical model that exhibits a sufficient degree of independence so as to enable its mapping to one or more column-oriented platforms. The authors provide experiments of their approach using a case study in the health care field.

The Effect of Product Quality and Price on Purchase Intention for Selancar Rice (Case Study on Housewives in Kota Baru Jalan Kapten Satar RT. 10 RW. 03 Lahat). This research was conducted on housewives located at Jalan Kapten Satar RT 10 RW 03 No. 25 Kelurahan Kota Baru, Lahat District. The research objective was to see the effect of the product and price on buying interest in surfing rice. The regression equation Y = 10.588 + 0.453 X1 + 0.339 X2 + e. Based on statistical data analysis, the indicators in this study are valid and reliable. The individual order of each variable with the most influence is the product quality variable with a regression coefficient of 0.453 then the price variable with a regression coefficient of 0.339. Obtained t count variable product quality (X1) of 2.658> 2.011 and variable price (X2) obtained at 2.905> 2.011. This means that t is greater than t table, then H_0 is rejected and H1 is accepted. Obtained an F calculated value of 7.009> 3.20 so that it can be ignored that there is a simultaneous (joint) influence between product quality (X1) and price (X2) on buying interest (Y) of surfing rice. Analysis of the coefficient of determination of 23% means that there is a very weak relationship between the independent variables and the related variables and the rest is 77%. By other factors that are not discussed in this study.

The aim: To compare the effectiveness and sensitivity of prenatal and postnatal diagnostics in the diagnosis of congenital malformations of the urinary system in the Slovak Republic. Materials and methods: Data of postnatal sonographic screening of congenital developmental malformations of the urinary system in Slovak Republic including 2017 were identified and updated using a questionnaire survey, 38,496 newborns were involved. Statistical data on the proportion of prenatal diagnosis for the years 1995, 2000, 2005, 2008 and 2013-2016 were provided from the National Register of Congenital Defects. The chi2-test and t-test were applied to assess the sensitivity differences. Results: The study showed a low sensitivity of prenatal diagnosis with its maximum in 2016, reaching 32.3% and a minimum in 2005-2008 (8.0 – 8.4%). The sensitivity of postnatal diagnostics for selected years has always been a stable indicator and reaches 99.6%. Conclusions: Available statistical data confirm that prenatal diagnostics of congenital developmental malformations of the urinary system in the Slovak Republic is not perfect. Our work underlines the importance, or we should rather say inevitability of postnatal ultrasound screening for congenital developmental anomalies in the kidneys.

Vessel traffic volume and vessel traffic service (VTS) operator workloads are increasing with the expansion of global maritime trade, contributing to marine accidents by causing difficulties in providing timely services. Therefore, it is essential to have sufficient VTS operators considering the vessel traffic volume and near-miss cases. However, no quantitative method for determining the optimal number of workstations, which is necessary for calculating the VTS operator staffing level, has yet been proposed. This paper proposes a new, microscopic approach for calculating the number of workstations from vessel trajectories and voice recording communication data between VTS operators and navigators. The vessel trajectory data are preprocessed to interpolate different intervals. The proposed method consists of three modules: Information services, navigational assistance services, and traffic organization service. The developed model was applied to the Yeosu VTS in Korea. Another workstation should be added to the current workstation based on the proposed method. The results showed that even without annual statistical data, a reasonable VTS operator staffing level could be calculated. The proposed approach helps prevent vessel accidents by providing timely services even if the vessel traffic is congested if VTS operators are deployed to a sufficient number of workstations.
