We observed the MnI 539.47 nm and 542.04nm line profiles in the quiet photosphere and plage regions in 1998 and 2001, and measured the full widths at half maximum, equivalent widths and depths of these profiles. The relative changes of the MnI 539.47 nm line parameters, normalized to the values obtained for quiet photosphere, as a function of magnetic field strength in plages is analyzed. We found, for plage region observed in 1998, that both the equivalent width and the depth of the line profile decrease with increasing strength of magnetic filed in plage at a rate of 9x10?4 /Gauss, but the full width at half maximum does not show any significant regular changes. Based on these results, the variations of the MnI 539.47 nm spectral line in solar flux with activity cycle could be explained by the variation of solar surface coverage with plages. For observations in 2001, the equivalent width and the depth of this line profile also decrease with increasing strength of magnetic filed in plage, but there are significant differences in the behavior of line parameters in comparison with the 1998 values. Comparison of changes of the MnI 539.47 nm line parameters with the parameters of the MnI 542.04 nm line in 1998 shows a clear discrepancy between them. On the contrary, in 2001 the full widths at half maximum and the equivalent widths of these two lines behaved in a similar fashion. .

CCD observations of the MnI 539.47 nm spectral line in the solar flux made at the Astronomical Observatory in Belgrade between 1994 and 2003 have been reduced and certain line parameters, viz. the equivalent width, full width at half maximum and central depth have been derived. The variation of these parameters with the solar activity has been evaluated. The relative variation of the equivalent width from minimum to maximum of solar activity was found to be 1.4%, while the variation of the central depth is 2.3%. The full width at half maximum remains practically constant.

Abstract66 Oph has shown recurrent short-lived outbursts nicely detected from ground-based and space (Hipparcos) photometry.Spectroscopic observations of He I 6678 and Hα lines were performed in June 1997 and June 1998. Search for short-term periodicities was done in He I 6678 line profiles as in equivalent width EW, radial velocity of the line centroid, and V and R components. At least two frequencies were present: ν = 4.0 c/d and ν = 2.2 c/d. The phase distribution of these frequencies over the line profile corresponds in the nrp frame to g-modes with ℓ ~ 3 − 4 and ℓ = 2 respectively.

Abstract In this investigation we have examined how the full width at half maximum intensity (FWHM) and asymmetry of x-ray powder diffraction line profiles are influenced by the instrumental conditions adopted. Experimental x-ray data has been collected for a matrix of instrumental conditions by systematically varying the divergence slit angle (and the corresponding anti-scatter slit) over the range 0.25° to 1.25°, by using either a 0.05mm or 0.2mm receiving slit, or by removing the diffracted beam Soller slit. The line profile Standard Reference Material, SRM, 660 (LaB6) was used as the powder specimen in that it imparts minimal specimen induced broadening to the diffraction profiles. X-ray data were collected on a conventional, divergent beam, x-ray diffractometer using CuKα radiation. The FWHM of the CuKα1 component can be as low as 0.035°2θ for high resolution conditions, but is normally ∼0.1°2θ at 2θ ≈ 30° for the instrumental conditions adopted in routine diffractometry. Below 2θ = 50°, the divergence slit has a significant effect on the FWHM and is the major cause of the increase in FWHM with decreasing 2θ. Results are presented of the 2θ dependence of FWHM values for each of the instrumental conditions recorded. A general relationship for the 2θ dependence of the FWHM and the asymmetry has been investigated to supersede the inappropriate Cagliotti expression frequently used in x-ray Rietvcld refinement.

In this paper we present results of spectroscopic analysis of the H? line profile of the Be star 60 Cygni. We present time evolution of the equivalent width of the H? line profiles during years 1992 - 2016 and V=R variation during years 1995 - 2016. We analyzed data from Ond?ejov Observatory and from BeSS Database. The circumstellar disk of the star was present twice during years 1992 - 2016 and the second cycle shows stronger emission activity. We found out that the formation of the disk takes longer time than the disk extinction (the extinction is much steeper than the formation) and that there is no evident period of changes in the V=R variation.

A series of experiments is described which were conducted to measure the absolute spectral irradiances of laser plasmas created from metal targets over the wavelength region of 123–164 nm by two separate 1.0 μm lasers, i.e., using 100 Hz, 10 ns, 2–20 kHz, 60–100 ns full-width-at-half-maximum pulses. A maximum radiation conversion efficiency of ≈ 3%/2πsr is measured over a wavelength region from ≈ 125 to 160 nm. A developed collisional-radiative solver and radiation-hydrodynamics simulations in comparison to the spectra detected by the Seya–Namioka-type monochromator reveal the strong broadband experimental radiations which mainly originate from bound–bound transitions of low-ionized charges superimposed on a strong continuum from a dense plasma with an electron temperature of less than 10 eV.

AbstractMoyamoya disease (MMD) is a chronic, steno-occlusive cerebrovascular disorder of unknown etiology. Surgical treatment is the only known effective method to restore blood flow to affected areas of the brain. However, there are lack of generally accepted noninvasive tools for therapeutic outcome monitoring. As dynamic susceptibility contrast (DSC) magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) is the standard MR perfusion imaging technique in the clinical setting, we investigated a dataset of nineteen pediatric MMD patients with one preoperational and multiple periodic DSC MRI examinations for four to thirty-eight months after indirect revascularization. A rigid gamma variate model was used to derive two nondeconvolution-based perfusion parameters: time to peak (TTP) and full width at half maximum (FWHM) for monitoring transitional bolus delay and dispersion changes respectively. TTP and FWHM values were normalized to the cerebellum. Here, we report that 74% (14/19) of patients improve in both TTP and FWHM measurements, and whereof 57% (8/14) improve more noticeably on FWHM. TTP is in good agreement with Tmax in estimating bolus delay. Our study data also suggest bolus dispersion estimated by FWHM is an additional, informative indicator in pediatric MMD monitoring.

Highly c-axis oriented aluminum nitrade (AlN) films were successfully deposited on flexible Hastelloy tapes by middle-frequency magnetron sputtering. The microstructure and piezoelectric properties of the AlN films were investigated. The results show that the AlN films deposited directly on the bare Hastelloy substrate have rough surface with root mean square (RMS) roughness of 32.43[Formula: see text]nm and its full width at half maximum (FWHM) of the AlN (0002) peak is [Formula: see text]. However, the AlN films deposited on the Hastelloy substrate with Y2O3 buffer layer show smooth surface with RMS roughness of 5.46[Formula: see text]nm and its FWHM of the AlN (0002) peak is only [Formula: see text]. The piezoelectric coefficient d[Formula: see text] of the AlN films deposited on the Y2O3/Hastelloy substrate is larger than three times that of the AlN films deposited on the bare Hastelloy substrate. The prepared highly c-axis oriented AlN films can be used to develop high-temperature flexible SAW sensors.

AbstractThe structure and kinematics of the broad line region in quasars are still unknown. One popular model is the disk-wind model that offers a geometric unification of a quasar based on the viewing angle. We construct a simple kinematical disk-wind model with a narrow outflowing wind angle. The model is combined with radiative transfer in the Sobolev, or high velocity, limit. We examine how angle of viewing affects the observed characteristics of the emission line. The line profiles were found to exhibit distinct properties depending on the orientation, wind opening angle, and region of the wind where the emission arises.At low inclination angle (close to face-on), we find that the shape of the emission line is asymmetric, narrow, and significantly blueshifted. As the inclination angle increases (close to edge-on), the line profile becomes more symmetric, broader, and less blueshifted. Additionally, lines that arise close to the base of the disk wind, near the accretion disk, tend to be broad and symmetric. Single-peaked line profiles are recovered for the intermediate and equatorial wind. The model is also able to reproduce a faster response in either the red or blue sides of the line profile, consistent with reverberation mapping studies.

AbstractAn anti-resonance pulse forming network (PFN) has been designed, analyzed, and tested for its application in generating quasi-square pulses. According to the circuit simulations, a compact generator based on two/three-section network was constructed. Two-section network is applied in the generator due to its compact structure, while three-section network is employed for generating pulses with higher quality. When two-section network is applied in the generator, the full-width at half-maximum of the load pulse is 400 ns, at the same time, its rise time, flat top and fall time are 90, 180 and 217 ns, respectively. When the three-section network is applied with the same pulse width of the load pulse, the rise time of the output decreases to 60 ns, while the flat top increases to 240 ns and the fall time reduces to 109 ns. Meanwhile, this kind of network could be used to shape the output pulses of generators whose equivalent circuit is LC series discharge network, such as MARX generator, into quasi-square pulses. And the preliminary experiment demonstrates that anti-resonance network could work well on four-stage Marx generators. A sine pulse generated by the four-stage Marx generator is shaped into a quasi-square pulse with voltage of 11.8 kV and pulse width about 110 ns based on two-section anti-resonance network.

AbstractErbium films are evaporated on crystalline silicon substrates and are thermally diffused into silicon in an Ar+02 or H2 flow. Very sharp Er3+-related luminescence peaks are observed around 1.54 μ m.The main peak as well as the fine structures of the luminescence spectra depend on the annealing atmosphere, suggesting different luminescence centers. The full width at half maximum (FWHM) of the main peaks is ≤ 0.5nm at 20K. Thermal diffusion with Al films on top of the Er films is found to increase the intensity of the Er3+-related peaks greatly. The temperature dependence between 20 K and room temperature is relatively small, and a strong luminescence is obtained at room temperature.
