Integrated fleet maintenance management represents implementation of measures, actions and decision making with the aim of decreasing total maintenance costs and increasing energy efficiency fulfilling requirements of three interdependent components: transport, maintenance and their environment. Therefore, a methodology for integrated fleet maintenance management is developed and presented in this paper. The purpose of the methodology is to contribute in increasing fleet?s energy efficiency and evaluate managers? fleet maintenance management efficiency. The methodology was implemented in the company with own light and medium goods vehicle fleet. According to realized values of defined indicators, the maintenance management has become more efficient in the observed period. It contributed to specific fuel consumption reduction per transport volume, thereby increasing fleet?s energy efficiency. Further, the fleet size was reduced, which affected the rational realization of the given transport volume in the observed period.

Abstract Nowadays, maintenance is based on the synergistic integration of operational reliability and timely maintenance, which guarantees the required availability and optimal cost. Operational reliability implies producing more, better performance, longer life, and availability. Timely maintenance involves the least time out of service, fewer maintenance costs, fewer operating costs, and less money. In this work, we study the preheating train of a crude distillation unit of a refinery, which processes 994 m3/h, which presents a formation of a fouling layer inside it. Among the impacts of fouling is the reduction in the effectiveness of heat transfer, the increase in fuel consumption, the increase in CO2 emissions, the increase in maintenance costs, and the decrease in the profit margin of process. An appropriate cleaning program of the surface of the heat exchanger network is necessary to preserve its key performance parameters, preferably close to design values. This paper presents the maintenance method centered on energy efficiency, to plan the intervention of the preheating train equipment maintenance, which considers the economic energy improvement and the cost of the type of maintenance. The method requires the calculation of the fouling evolution from which the global heat transfer coefficient is obtained, and the heat flux is determined as a function of time. It was observed that, as time passes, the resistance provided by fouling increases and that the overall heat transfer coefficient decreases. The energy efficiency centered maintenance has an indicator of economic justification (factor J) that relates the economic-energy improvement achieved when performing maintenance, taking into account the economic effort invested. Depending on the cost of the type of maintenance to be performed, a threshold should be chosen, from which the maintenance activity is justified. The effectiveness values of the heat exchanger (ε) and the J indicator are used to form a criticality matrix, which allows prioritizing maintenance activities in each equipment. The planning of the implementation dates of the maintenance of each heat exchanger, from the maintenance method centered on energy efficiency applied to the crude distillation unit’s, preheat train, constitutes a contribution in this specific field. The conceptual design of the maintenance method centered on energy efficiency presented in this work is feasible for other heat transfer equipment used in oil refineries and industry in general. The procedure developed uses real operation values, and with its implementation, a saving of 150000 US dollars was achieved.

In this paper, research is done in the influence of different terrain and traffic conditions on road sections on the driver?s driving performances, i.e. on the car energy efficiency and CO2 emission. A methodology aimed at determining to which extent unfavorable traffic and/or terrain conditions on a road section contribute to the driver?s worse driving performances, and also to determine when the driver?s aggressive driving style is responsible for greater fuel consumption and greater CO2 emission is proposed. In order to apply the proposed methodology, a research study was carried out in a cargo transportation company and 12 drives who drove the same vehicle on five different road sections were selected. As many as 284 014 of the instances of the data about the defined parameters of the road section and the driver?s driving style were collected, based on which and with the help of machine learning a prediction of the scores for the road section and the scores for the driver?s driving style was performed. The obtained results have shown that the proposed methodology is a useful tool for managers enabling them to simply and quickly determine potential room for increasing the energy efficiency of the vehicle fleet and decreasing CO2 emission.

To calculate the optimal parameters of outbuildings, a mathematical model and method for optimizing the shape and resistance of heat transfer for opaque and transparent structures with a certain constant number of faces, building volume and amount of insulation to minimize the thermal balance of enclosing structures with the environment during the heating period In the course of calculations the geometrical parameters of translucent, opaque structures in the heat-insulating shell of buildings are determined taking into account heat losses, heat influx from solar radiation by the criterion of ensuring minimum heat losses through enclosing structures, rational parameters (buildings) The given technique and mathematical models should be used in the future in the design of energy efficient buildings in the reconstruction and thermal modernization of buildings. This will increase their energy efficiency and, accordingly, the energy efficiency class of buildings. For the research faceted attached building in the form of a triangular pyramid, the reduction in heat loss was 14.82 percent only due to the optimization of the shape and redistribution of the insulation. Similar results were obtained for other initial forms. For the first time, a computerized method was proposed, an algorithm and application package Optimparam for multiparameter shape optimization and insulation of translucent and opaque structures for outbuildings with a given number of arbitrarily arranged faces were developed.

A heterogeneous vehicle fleet is one that is composed of several types of vehicles. The number of each type of vehicle in the fleet is called the fleet’s composition. The problem of determining the best fleet size and composition for an in-house heterogeneous company fleet having a known demand was solved in this paper. A computer model was developed which tied a fleet simulation model to two different search algorithms. One of the search algorithms is a complete factorial nonsequential search and the other is a combination of a partial factorial nonsequential search and a heuristic sequential hill-climbing search. The objective of both searches is to select the fleet size and composition which provides the lowest total vehicle travel costs to the company. Several examples were used to demonstrate the use of the model.

Maintenance service is the necessary organizational structure in the modern manufacturing company. Everyday maintenance services operation would be greatly impeded without a computerised maintenance management systems (CMMS) software. CMMS allows to manage company’s equipment, planning inspections and maintenance and management supervision procedures and service documentation. The aim of this study is to present the analysis of the manufacturing company in the maintenance department, the main objectives of the company related to the maintenance, a pre-implementation analysis (objectives, assumptions, hard results, ABC analysis), and proposals to choose computerised maintenance management systems, which will allow to reduce failures, downtime and maintenance costs.

The performance of the urban rail transit system depends largely on the operation efficiency of its feeder system. An improved way is proposed in this paper to calculate the accessibility index which is used for evaluation of feeder lines, and both passengers’ waiting time and the competition between different access modes are considered. Different from previous research, this paper focuses on whether and how the geometric shape differences affect the performance of fixed-route feeder lines. The impacts of line shape on accessibility are analysed by derived formulas for calculating accessibility under ideal conditions. The finding emerging from this study is that the accessibility of feeder lines differs obviously due to their shapes, given the same conditions of total line length, stop spacing, and vehicle fleet size. The service area of feeder lines with branches or a loop is closer to the rail station compared with that of linear lines, thus leading to fewer passengers served but shorter average travel time under specific routing plans. For further exploring the universality of the above finding, route alignment optimization models to maximize accessibility are built for different shaped lines. The optimal solutions of different shapes are obtained and compared in the cases of random generation to analyse the impacts of shapes on accessibility under different line length conditions.
