A dictionary born old. Legitimization and delegitimization of the Second Spanish Republic. The controversy following the recent publication of the Spanish Biographical Dictionary by the Real Academia de la Historia is here analysed. Many entries about the 20th century in Spain highlight the questionable aspects of a cultural project that derives from a public usage typical of the past concerning the legitimization and delegitimization of the Second Spanish Republic.

Los Derechos ambientales y transgeneracionales emergieron con fuerza en el último tercio del siglo XX, procediéndose en un breve periodo de tiempo a su constitucionalización y proclamación mediante Tratados y Declaraciones internacionales. Sin embargo, tal auge no ha ido acompañado de una definición conceptual de los términos utilizados para su descripción, aspecto especialmente agravado en el idioma castellano, como consecuencia de la casi exclusiva utilización de la lengua inglesa en los foros internacionales de referencia, lo que ha posibilitado una cierta confusión y falta de homogeneidad, en la descripción de términos y conceptos, muchos de los cuáles no han sido todavía admitidos por la Real Academia de la Lengua. En el presente trabajo se intenta proceder a una definición conceptual de los mismos.Environmental Rights and transgenerational emerged strongly in the last third of the twentieth century, proceeding in a short period of time to proclaim a constitution and by international treaties and declarations. However, this boom has not been accompanied by a conceptual definition of the terms used to describe it, which is particularly exacerbated in the Castilian language, as a result of the almost exclusive use of English in international reference, which has enabled some confusion and inconsistency in the description of terms and concepts, many of them have not yet been accepted by the Real Academia de la Lengua. this assay tries to proceed with a conceptual definition of them.

With the purpose of classifying text based on its sentiment polarity (positive or negative), we proposed an extension of a 68,000 tweets corpus through the inclusion of word definitions from a dictionary of the Real Academia Espa\~{n}ola de la Lengua (RAE). A set of 28,000 combinations of 6 Word2Vec and support vector machine parameters were considered in order to evaluate how positively would affect the inclusion of a RAE's dictionary definitions classification performance. We found that such a corpus extension significantly improve the classification accuracy. Therefore, we conclude that the inclusion of a RAE's dictionary increases the semantic relations learned by Word2Vec allowing a better classification accuracy.

La importancia histórica de la Academia y su influencia, en cuanto al hecho arquitectónico, se halla en la labor de la Comisión de Arquitectura. Ésta junta desempeñó la línea motriz del pensamiento académico. En resumen, el cuerpo de esta investigación se basa en el estudio de tres proyectos de teatros censurados por dicha Comisión. El interés de los planos y de los manuscritos es significativo, porque por un lado proporcionan documentación inédita en la actualidad, sobre tres teatros proyectados en España, por el otro encierran el juicio de valor que motivaron en la Academia. En tal contexto cabe señalar la postura abierta de la Academia, pues no se trataba de defender una curva para la planta de la sala, sino más bien la derivada de resolver el conjunto arquitectónico adecuadamente a su función.Thanks to its Architect Commission the Real Academy of San Fernando was basic to the ulterior development of the academic thought. The main object of the investigation is based on the study of the three theatre projects censored by that Commission. The significance of the plans and manuscripts is important because they show documentation unknown nowadays about the theatres planned in Spain in the Nineteenth Century and because they contain the architectural ideas of the Academy. We must point out the advanced ideas of the Academy in this context because it tried to resolve the architectural group appropriately to its function.

Abstract In this essay we discuss two examples of the influence exerted by the advice of scholars from the United Kingdom on the shaping and management of Spanish collections – those at the Museo de Reproducciones Artísticas de Madrid and the Real Academia de la Historia. We take as the starting point for our study two letters sent by Juan Facundo Riaño to scholars from the UK, both of which provide valuable information on the international networks in operation at a time when some collections – including those dealt with here – were being created or expanded. The first of the letters was sent by Riaño to Austen Henry Layard in 1881; the second was addressed in 1895 to Archibald Henry Sayce.

The empire of absolutist Spain haunted the debates over the empire of liberal Spain. To take one example, José Arias y Miranda, an unemployed civil servant who would later work as the librarian for the Ministerio de Ultramar (Overseas Ministry), responded to the Real Academia de la Historia's query on the effects of the American empire on Spain's economy and society in words that would have been familiar to a seventeenth-century arbitrista. After reviewing America's drain on the sparse Spanish population and the corrupting effects of gold, silver, and land on Spanish work habits, Arias y Miranda concluded ‘that America was […] the determining cause of Spain's decadence’.

Abstract Research revolves around the socio-political, linguistic, and cultural aspects of “Spanglish” while considering its future in American society. A speech modality used by many Hispanics in the United States, Spanglish mixes grammatical and lexical elements from both English and Spanish and is primarily used in oral communication. The announcement by the Real Academia Española (RAE) to include Estadounidismos (a term coined by the RAE for referring to words used primarily, if not exclusively, in the US by Spanish speakers which are now part of the recognized lexicon) in its upcoming dictionary in 2014 shocked many. Furthermore, it has also placed Spanglish in the center of yet another controversy, as it presents heritage speakers with an opportunity to decide whether or not to remain fragmented or united.
