Research background and hypothesis. Higher levels of competition rank have significant influence on the structure and shooting performance in youth basketball. The aim of the study was to investigate the interaction of shooting and match results of Lithuanian female youth national team players dependent on the competition level.Research methods. The basketball players (n = 7) of the Lithuanian Basketball Centre were investigated. The performance indicators of those players were analyzed on the basis of the data collected during the Lithuanian Women “A” league and European Basketball Championship of 2011. We analyzed the statistics of six selected key indicators: 2- and 3- point field goal attempts, free-throws. The data were processed by SPSS 17.0 for Windows. Person’s correlation coefficients were calculated to determine the relationships between the match results within all shooting types and different players.Research results. The top efficacy of shooting was found in Lithuanian Championship (LC), the lowest – in European Championship (EC). The highest efficiency of free throws was found in the II nd period (62.53%), two-points (44.74%) and three-points (19.45%) shooting efficacy in the I st period in LC. Seven players of LBC in Lithuanian Championship earned the majority part of all points i. e. 74% in the I st period and 75% in the II nd period. However, the contribution of 7 players of LBC in the international competition level of EC was less, 59% of total team points. Discussion and conclusions. Though the players performed successfully and efficiently in both stages of LC and won all matches with a great difference in points, remarkable decrease in shooting efficacy and winning one match only (out of 9) in EC might be considered as not adequate level of mastership in the opponents’ teams in LC or not adequate individual level of sport performance. Lithuanian basketball federation should rethink the system of targeted training of the Lithuanian youth team during the preparatory period in order to manage suitable local competition level for better advance in the performance at the international level. Keywords: sport performance, sport games, sport contest model, shooting efficacy in basketball.

The article contains a review of underlying concepts and definitions of non-observed economy which are formulated in the international standards on this topic and used by the CIS countries for computation of GDP and other key indicators of the System of National Accounts. The article considers the methods used for measuring non-observed economy and some figures on the share of non-observed economy in GDP of the CIS countries and other selected countries of the world. Perfection of methods of measuring non-observed economy and raising reliability of its estimates requires improvement of general level of work on compilation of national accounts.

Research background and hypothesis. Replete schedule of competitions and intense training are features of contemporary team sports. Athletes, especially the most involved ones, may not have enough time to recover. As a consequence, aggregated fatigue can manifest in some undesirable form and affect athlete’s performance and health.Research aim. The aim of this study was to evaluate the changes in heart rate recovery (HRR) and investigate possible relations with sport-specifi c measures of effi cacy in professional basketball players during competition season.Research methods. Eight male high-level basketball players (mean ± SD, body mass, 97.3 ± 11.33 kg; height 2.02 ± 0.067 m, and age 23 ± 3.12 years) were investigated. The same basketball specifi c exercise was replicated several times from September till April during the practice sessions in order to assess the personal trends of HRR. Heart rate monitoring was performed using POLAR TEAM SYSTEM. Investigated athletes were ranked retrospectively according to the total amount of minutes played and the coeffi cients of effi cacy. Research results. There were signifi cant differences in the trends of HRR between the investigated players. The most effective players showed decreasing trends of HRR in all cases of ranking.Discussion and conclusions. Research fi ndings have shown that the quality of heart rate recovery differs between basketball players of the same team and could be associated with sport-specifi c effi cacy and competition playing time. Keywords: adaptation, autonomic control, monitoring training.

Background: Use of the interrupted coronary anastomosis has largely been abandoned in favor of the more rapid continuous suturing technique. The Coalescent U-CLIP anastomotic device allows the surgeon to create an interrupted distal anastomosis in the same amount of time that it would take to create a continuous anastomosis. This acute bovine study examined the effect of the anastomotic technique on blood flow and vessel wall function.

Methods: End-to-side coronary anastomoses were created in an open chest bovine model using the left and right internal thoracic arteries and the left anterior descending coronary artery. All other variables except suturing technique were carefully controlled. In each animal, one anastomosis was completed using a continuous suturing technique and the other was performed in an interrupted fashion using the Coalescent U-CLIP anastomotic device. Volumetric flow curves through each graft were analyzed using key indicators of anastomotic quality, and anastomotic compliance was evaluated using intravascular ultrasound. Luminal castings were created of each vessel to examine the interior surface of each anastomosis for constrictions and deformities.

Results: The interrupted anastomoses created with the Coalescent U-CLIP anastomotic device showed significant differences with respect to anastomotic compliance, pulsatility index, peak flow, and percentage of diastolic flow. The cross-sectional area and degree of luminal deformity were also different for the two suturing techniques.

Conclusions: In this acute bovine model, interrupted coronary anastomoses demonstrated superior geometric consistency and greater physiologic compliance than did continuously sutured anastomoses. The interrupted anastomosis also caused fewer disturbances to the flow waveform, behaving similarly to a normal vessel wall. The combination of these effects may influence both acute and long-term patency of the coronary bypass grafts.
