The understanding of Indonesian high school level teachers in Bengkulu City on writing scientific articles on research results is still low. This is evidenced by the small number of Indonesian language teacher publications in accredited national journals and it has an impact on teachers having difficulty advancing in rank. For this reason, the aim of this community service is to provide understanding to Indonesian high school teachers in Bengkulu City in writing scientific articles and how to publish them in accredited national journals through webinars and mentoring activities. The community service method uses webinars and online mentoring through the Zoom Cloud Meeting. Participants totaled 37 Indonesian high school teachers in Bengkulu City. Community service techniques use lecture, discussion, and practice techniques. Data collection techniques using questionnaires, documentation, and observation. The results of the webinar indicate that the Indonesian language teacher is able to write articles quite well, starting from writing titles, abstracts, introductions, methods, research results, discussions, conclusions and suggestions, and bibliography. However, some teachers still have difficulty in pouring out the introductory section, especially mapping research positions based on relevant research results, difficulty in pouring out the discussion, especially finding the novelty of their research results, and difficulty finding references from online journals. Then, from the results of mentoring, Indonesian language teachers still have difficulty in submitting and the process of fixing articles in the OJS system. Keywords: webinars; accompaniment; scientific journal articles; accredited national journal

This study aims to analyze the opportunities and challenges of Merdeka Belajar as a national education program for high school teachers nationally. Teachers’ problem in implementing Merdeka Belajar (Freedom of Learning) curriculum lacks understanding of the procedures. This happened because there was no structural explanation regarding the differences between the curriculum they had been running so far and Merdeka Belajar curriculum. Many problems arise when implementing the curriculum that the education they have been running has made students dependent. In this context, this study questions how high school sociology teachers’ opportunities and challenges in facing Merdeka Belajar curriculum in the fourth industrial revolution (industry 4.0)? This study aims to identify problems and strategies for teachers in facing the new paradigm of Merdeka Belajar. This study’s analysis is based on theories such as those from Neill, Rogers, Freire, Boal, Giroux, and Knowles to critically analyze the pedagogical paradigm of national education that teachers have used. This study uses Knowles’s theory of andragogy to explore the notion of Merdeka Belajar. This study’s qualitative research method includes observation of the teacher-student relationship and interviews with several high school teachers in Karanganyar, Central Java. Besides, document studies related to Merdeka Belajar program are also used to understand the policy context. This study found that teachers did not realize that they had been using a pedagogical paradigm (education for children) for high school-level children who had grown up. When they switched to Merdeka Belajar curriculum, they also did not know that the paradigm they should be using is andragogy (education for adults). In this situation, they improvised as best they could to implement Merdeka Belajar. The teachers only carry out orders from the school. However, the school is still trying to understand how it works based on structural orders without clarity. Students’ dependence on teachers has become the cause of teachers’ difficulty to move out of the pedagogical paradigm into andragogy. In this situation, the teachers tried to do their best to implement Merdeka Belajar program during the Covid-19 pandemic. Teachers and schools must also face all infrastructural barriers and socioeconomic conditions with limited online learning access.

This paper will discuss the correlation between the SAT and the Math Inventory Test. Many school districts adopted the Math Inventory as a tool to measure student growth from grades kindergarten through high school. The Math Inventory is a computer-administered test that gives students math problems spanning from counting to high school level math. When completed, the students are given a quantile measure, much like a Lexile score for reading skill. The purpose of this study is to figure out if success on the Math Inventory is a good indicator for performing well on the SAT. For most high schools around the United States, objectives and lessons are aligned with those of the SAT. The goal of high school teachers is for students to excel on the SAT so that they can go to college, which means the tests used in middle school should be aligned with that goal. If the Math Inventory is not, then it might not be a very good use of school time and resources. Data was analyzed from the 2017-2018 school year from ten different high schools in an urban school district to determine the correlation between Math Inventory score, and the math score/sub scores of SAT/PSAT. The value of the Pearson’s correlation coefficient is used to suggest a fairly moderate positive relationship between these two variables.

Only 90 days separate a high school senior from a college freshman sitting in an 8:00 a.m. music theory course. However, in most cases, there is very little interaction between high school teachers and college-level music theory and aural skills instructors. High school music teachers are reaching hundreds of students each day in ensembles and classes and may be one of the greatest resources in better understanding freshmen music majors. These outstanding high school teachers are also extremely effective educators who place emphasis on material that goes well beyond music making and performance, instead focusing on literacy and listening and teaching to the masses. There is much to be learned from their time management skills, emphasis on aural skills and listening, methods of assessment, and integration of ensemble literature that can immediately be transferred to the undergraduate music core.

This Community Service raises the business of Enting Ginger and Enting Kacang, Dusun Kungkuk, Punten Village, Bumiaji District, Batu City. The village is famous for its apple farming, one of which is Punten Village. With cold weather conditions, making apples thrive in the area and as one of the livelihoods of the residents of Kungkuk hamlet. For five years (2005-2010), there was a decline in the production of apple commodities which brought social impacts such as the children of apple farmers who went to school unable to continue their education and were forced to stop their education at the junior high or high school level, because there was no more money to continue their education. This kind of phenomenon spurred Mrs. Yayuk Murniwati to establish a non-apple product processing business in the form of enting, namely ginger and peanut enting. However, this business is still not developed due to limited capital and machines owned. The method to be applied is the method of community empowerment for homemakers to increase the productivity and independence of partners economically and socially through counseling and mentoring efforts. Assistance or introduction of tools in ginger and peanut grinding machines for making entings and packaging machines helped them advance and develop their business.ABSTRAKPengabdian Masyarakat ini mengangkat Usaha Enting Jahe dan Enting Kacang Dusun Kungkuk Desa Punten Kecamatan Bumiaji Kota Batu.
