The job of a backhoe operator is to perform earthworks as well as auxiliary, transport and order work. The working environment of the backhoe loader operator are construction sites, gravel pits, sand pits, quarries, and mines. The backhoe operator works both inside and outside the cab and is exposed to the presence of many environmental factors that can cause accidents at work and occupational diseases. The paper presents in a synthetic way the characteristics of the profession of a backhoe loader operator paying attention to such aspects as: the scope of performed activities (tasks), working environment and qualifications and qualifications necessary to perform this profession. Then, a review of occupational hazards occurring at the workplace of a backhoe loader operator was made. Supplementing the above considerations are the results of the occupational risk assessment carried out using the Risc Score method. As a result, the authors of the publication present examples of corrective actions to minimize the level of occupational risk.

Significance. Occupational morbidity is an important component among other indicators used in assessing health of employees. Studying dynamics in this indicator over several years makes it possible to identify specifics of prevalence of occupational diseases within certain territories. Purpose. To identify dynamics in the structure of occupational morbidity in the Republic of Bashkortostan during 2000-2019 on the basis of the medical and statistical analysis. Material and methods. The authors have analyzed 2,561 cases in the Register of occupational diseases to develop their medical and statistical profile. Results. The study found out that the Register of individuals with occupational diseases included 61.8% of males, 60.4% of urban residents with people aged 50-59 and 40-49 prevailing (52.4% and 33.4%, respectively). 3.8% of people in the Register had a 5-year exposure to occupational hazards, 10.6% - a 5 to 10-year exposure to occupational hazards, 15.3% - a 10 to 14-year exposure and about 20% of people had more years of exposure to occupational hazards. In dynamics, there was an increase in the share of males and people aged 50-59 with more than a 25-year exposure to occupational hazards. Determining causes of occupational diseases made it possible to identify that diseases of the musculoskeletal system and connective tissue accounted for one third of the occupational disease causes, diseases of the respiratory system accounted for one-fifth, injury, poisoning and consequences of other external exposure accounted for one sixth, while diseases of the nervous system and other diseases accounted for one tenth of all causes of occupational diseases. In dynamics, there was an increase in the share of diseases of the musculoskeletal system and decrease in the share of respiratory diseases. In the structure of diseases, radiculopathy prevailed (20.2%) followed by vibration disease (13.2%). Vibroacoustic factor (28.9%), chemical factor (24.1%), severity and intensity of the labor process (22.9%) are the leading factors in the structure of the working environment and labor process. In 2014-2019, there was an increase in the share of factors of the labor process (severity and intensity).

Despite wide legislation basis of regulating relations in work safety and workers’ health, one third of workplaces demonstrate exceeded allowable normal levels of workers’ exposure to occupational hazards and present occupational risk for health disorders. In accordance to national legislation acts, evaluation should cover factors of occupational environment and working process, and occupational risk is understood in context of mandatory social insurance. This approach has been formed due to mostly compensatory trend in legal principles of work safety in Russia by now. Implementation of new preventive concept of work safety, based on idea of risk management for workers, necessitates development of legal acts that regulate requirements to evaluation of occupational risk and its reports with consideration of changes in Federal Law on 30 March 1999 №52 FZ “On sanitary epidemiologic well-being of population”.Those acts can include Sanitary Rules and Regulations “Evaluation of occupational risk for workers’ health”, that will contain main principles of risk assessment, requirements to risk assessment, including its characteristics which can serve as a basis of categorizing the risk levels with acceptability. To standardize requirements for informing a worker on the occupational risk, the expediency is specification of sanitary rules “Notifying a worker on occupational risk”. These rules should contain requirements: to a source of data on occupational risk level at workplace, to informational content and to ways of notifying the worker. Specification and implementation of the stated documents enable to fulfil legal requirements completely on work safety — that will provide preservation and increase of efficiency in using work resources.

Introduction. Professional groups of railway workers engaged in the repair of wagons are directly responsible for the safety of railway traffic. The analysis of literature testifies to insufficient attention of researchers to the hygienic problems associated with labor activity of workers of wagon-repair production. The aim of the study is to assess the occupational risk to the health of wagon repair workers, due to the impact on them of factors of the working environment and the labor process.Materials and methods. The study used comprehensive hygienic studies using the methodology of occupational risk to worker’s health.Results. The leading factors of the working environment (class of working conditions 3.2–3.4), which are exposed to workers depending on the specifics of the work performed. Identified professional groups with medium (significant) high (unbearable) and very high (intolerable) category of a priori occupational risk: in wagon meintenance workshop — 17 groups (94% of jobs), in a wagon assembly workshop — 11 groups (80% jobs), in wagon wheel workshop — 3 group (100% jobs). At the same time, according to the request for medical care, employees were diagnosed with isolated cases of occupational diseases. The levels of morbidity with temporary disability of employees of the main workshops are statistically significant (p<0.05) higher than those of the control group in 1.4–1.9 times. The influence of the complex of chemical factors of low and medium intensity on the levels of morbidity of respiratory diseases in the group of workers of the wagon wheel workshop, which were 1.7–2.0 times higher than in the control group, is confirmed by the average degree of causation of the production condition of this pathology (RR=1.7; EF=42.0%).The combined effect of vibration and severity of the labor process forms a high level of temporary disability of employees of the main workshops in connection with diseases of the musculoskeletal system, which was 2.7–4.4 times higher than in the control group, and also determines the prevalence of this pathology in the structure of diseases detected on medical examinations (23.2%). Diseases of the musculoskeletal system are caused by the production of employees of the wagon meintenance workshop (RR=3,9; EF=74,9%), as the most unfavorable in terms of hygiene on these factors. The stressful influence of the complex of harmful production factors on the health of wagon repair workers is manifested by the high risk of diseases of the cardiovascular system, gastrointestinal tract, neurological disorders, violation of adaptation of the cardiovascular system in 97% of the examined, as well as the predominance of diseases of the digestive system and circulatory system detected on periodic medical examinations.Conclusions. Harmful working conditions (class 3.1–3.4) cause the suspected occupational risk from small (moderate) to very high (intolerable) to 100% of the jobs of wagon repair workers. The results of the study of morbidity and risk of pathology indicate a significant risk of damage to the health of workers.
