Intrinsic motivation is driven by internal rewards that are satisfying to the individuals. In the context of learning, intrinsic motivation is imperative as the outcome of the learning process was found to be more sustainable and high quality. Since intrinsic motivation comes from within individual, thus it is interesting to explore self-concept variables that lead to intrinsic motivation. Thus, the aims of the study are firstly, to determine the relationship between self- efficacy and instrinsic motivation to learn; secondly, to determine the relationship between self-efficacy and instrinsic motivation to learn. Data were collected using questionnaire survey to 200 bachelor degree program students in a public university in Malaysia. Data were then analyzed using SPSS Statistics. Findings of the study indicate that out of the two independent variables, only self-efficacy was found to influence intrinsic motivation to learn among students. This study is imperative to the educators and higher learning institutions in identifying self-concepts variables that are significant in motivating students intrinsically. This study also provides insights in designing relevant policies, programs and workshops for the students in increasing self-efficacy among students.

The Malaysian government has implemented various programs aid to encourage entrepreneurship among Bumiputra youth. However, the number of embarkation among young Bumiputra into the entrepreneurship landscape is still far below the expectation. The fourth industrial revolution (IR 4.0) and 5G technology has transformed the business landscape into fully digitalized and underlined the importance of entrepreneurship. Unfortunately, due to the advancement of technology, entrepreneurship remains with many challenges, locally or globally. Thus, this leads the study to investigate the most researched antecedents in entrepreneurship study; computer and internet self-efficacy effect on individual entrepreneurial orientation (IEO) among Bumiputra university students in Malaysia. It used a self-administered questionnaire to collect data from 450 Bumiputra studentsin several campuses of a public university in Malaysia. It developed a research model that integrated the self-efficacy theory and IEO concept. The conducted research analyses revealed that computer self-efficacy and internet efficacy positively and significantly influenced IEO (i.e. innovation, risk-taking, and proactiveness). As such, this study suggested that higher learning institutions should grasp the importance of entrepreneurial education ICT (information, communication, and technology)-related in developing competitive entrepreneurs among Bumiputra youths. Furthermore, students should be given more opportunities to attend ICT courses and use their ICT capabilities and proactively establish an initial move for business opportunities.ICT-related and entrepreneurship behaviours among university students, is still considered as scarcity, and confronts various challenges in creating, training, and developing of new entrepreneurs. Therefore, this study aimed at examining the ICT-related factors that influenced the Bumiputra youth’s IEO. The study adopted a quantitative research method in which the questionnaire survey was used. The population was full-time final year Bumiputra students in several campuses who registered in a Malaysian public university. Data collected from 450 students selected through a proportionate stratified sampling technique. The data were analyzed through descriptive, frequency, Pearson correlation, and multiple regression analyses. This study found that factors of computer self-efficacy and internet self-efficacy positively and significantly influenced IEO among Bumiputra university students. This study was essential to higher learning institutions (HLIs) and government. It highlighted that HLIs should focus on hands-on and practical of ICT-related entrepreneurship training. Meanwhile, the government should also provide various assistance in boostingstudents' entrepreneurial behaviours.

The aim of this study was to validate the French version of the Career Decision-Making Difficulties Questionnaire (CDDQ) and to assess its measurement invariance across gender, age groups, countries, and student versus career counseling samples. We also examined the sensitivity of this instrument to discriminate a career counseling population from a general student sample. Third, we studied the relationship between career decision-making difficulties, career decision-making self-efficacy, and self-esteem in a sample of 1,748 French and French-speaking Swiss participants. A confirmatory factor analysis confirmed the overall hierarchical structure of the CDDQ. Multigroup analysis indicated that the level of invariance across groups almost always reached configural, metric, and scalar invariance. Differences between countries were very small, whereas differences between the general population and career counseling subsamples were much larger. Both self-esteem and self-efficacy significantly predicted career decision-making difficulties. Moreover, as expected, self-efficacy partially mediated the relationship between self-esteem and career decision-making difficulties.

Purpose The purpose of this paper is to investigate the relationship between employee motivation and intention for knowledge sharing behaviour. Inter-generational differences (generations X and Y only) were assumed to moderate in the relationship between intention and knowledge sharing behaviour of non-academic staff of higher learning institutions. This research also aims to test the role of behavioural intention as mediation between motivation and knowledge sharing behaviour. Design/methodology/approach This research tested a conceptual framework derived from widely accepted theories. This study was carried out on non-academic staff working at the different higher learning institutions in Malaysia. Respondents from private and public higher learning institutions in Peninsular Malaysia were asked to complete a self-administered questionnaire. This research also applied confirmatory factor analysis and structural equation modelling to examine the proposed hypothesis of this inquiry. Findings Results indicate that non-academic staff knowledge sharing behaviour was significantly mediated by intention between motivation and knowledge sharing behaviour relationship. More specifically, inter-generational differences (generations X and Y) play a significant moderation role between intention and knowledge sharing behaviour. Research limitations/implications The generalizability of this cross-sectional study can be strengthened by adopting a longitudinal approach in the next phase of the study. Practical implications The results of this research highlighted that the higher learning institutions need to institutionalize knowledge sharing behaviour among their non-academic staff (executive and non-executive) by facilitating knowledge sharing-oriented work environment. Originality/value This paper has attempted to furnish a comprehensive understanding of knowledge sharing behaviour among the non-academic staff of higher learning institutions.

Extensive research on the relationship between employees' use of English in the workplace and their job performance has revealed that the use of English at work leads to increased job performance and positive interactions among staff. In relation to this, a good command of English among military staff, especially officers, is of great importance to the Armed Forces, as military personnel often serve abroad and need to be proficient in communicating their instructions and orders to a foreign team. Previous research has also shown that self-efficacy is a significant predictor of job performance; however, the role of self-efficacy in learning English language skills has not been widely explored as mediator in the relationship between motivation to learn, intention to share knowledge, and job performance. Therefore, this paper aims to develop a conceptual framework that can be used to improve the understanding of English self-efficacy and its relationship with employees’ motivation to learn, intention to share knowledge, and capability to complete a given task. This framework informs and guides future research that will test the hypothesized relationships. The findings would assist the English Department of the Education Directorate of the Malaysian Armed Forces to design or revise military training syllabi and approaches.

This study aimed to explore the relationship between self-esteem, self-efficacy, family and life satisfaction, loneliness and academic achievement during adolescence. A total of 180 male and 301 female adolescents aged 10 to 17 (M=12.45 years, SD=2.66), from two primary and two secondary schools from the city of Split, participated in the study. To achieve the research goal, we administered the general data questionnaire, Self-Efficacy Questionnaire for Children and Adolescents (Vulić Prtorić Sorić, 2006), Family Satisfaction Scale (Vulić Prtorić, 2004), the short-form UCLA Loneliness Scale (Russell, 1996), and the Rosenberg Self-Esteem Scale (Rosenberg, 1965). The results indicated that female adolescents performed better in Croatian than male adolescents, who in turn assessed themselves as being more emotionally efficient than female adolescents. Regarding age, preadolescents were more satisfied, performed better academically, and exhibited higher levels of academic self-efficacy and self-esteem than older adolescents. The results of the regression analysis showed that higher academic self-efficacy and lower emotional self-efficacy were the strongest predictors of academic achievement. Research findings suggest that higher self-esteem and self-efficacy beliefs in all domains could have a protective role in well-being of adolescents and, finally, they point to the importance of developing high self-efficacy beliefs, especially academic ones, for academic achievement.Key words: academic achievement; adolescence; self-concept; satisfaction, loneliness---Ovim istraživanjem nastojalo se ispitati odnos između samopoštovanja, samoučinkovitosti, zadovoljstva s obitelji i životom, usamljenosti i akademskoga postignuća tijekom adolescencije. U istraživanju je sudjelovalo ukupno 180 adolescenata i 301 adolescentica u dobi od 10 do 17 godina (M = 12,45 godina, SD = 2,66), iz dvije osnovne i dvije srednje škole iz Splita. Kako bismo ostvarili cilj istraživanja, koristili smo sljedeće instrumente: Upitnik općih podataka, Upitnik samoučinkovitosti djece i adolescenata (Vulić Prtorić i Sorić, 2006), Skalu obiteljskoga zadovoljstva (Vulić Prtorić, 2004), kratki oblik Skale usamljenosti Sveučilišta u Kaliforniji (UCLA) (Russell, 1996) i Opću skalu samopoštovanja (Rosenberg, 1965). Rezultati pokazuju da su adolescentice bolje u Hrvatskom jeziku od adolescenata, koji su procijenili da su emocionalno učinkovitiji od ženskih adolescenata. S obzirom na dob, predadolescenti bili su zadovoljniji, imali bolju akademsku izvedbu i pokazivali više razine akademske samoučinkovitosti nego stariji adolescenti. Rezultati regresijske analize naglasili su višu akademsku samoučinkovitost i nižu emocionalnu samoučinkovitost kao najsnažnije prediktore akademskoga postignuća. Rezultati istraživanja pokazuju da više samopoštovanje i viša uvjerenja u samoučinkovitost u svim domenama mogu očuvati dobrobit adolescenata. Osim toga, rezultati ukazuju na važnost razvijanja snažnih uvjerenja u samoučinkovitost, posebno akademsku, za akademsko postignuće.Ključne riječi: adolescencija; akademsko postignuće; samopoimanje; usamljenost; zadovoljstvo

Purpose The purpose of this study is to examine the relationship between transformational leadership and volunteers' performance and the role of self-efficacy as a mediator in this relationship. Design/methodology/approach This is a study based on responses to a questionnaire completed by a sample of volunteers in a voluntary sector organization in Hong Kong. This was an application of intrinsic motivation theory. Findings 1. Transformational leadership is positively associated with volunteers' performance, both in-role and extra-role. 2. The positive relationships between transformational leadership and volunteers' performance, both in-role and extra-role, are mediated by self-efficacy. Research limitations/implications This research has originality in that it studies these relationships in a voluntary sector organization. It uses questionnaire responses for data and hence there is no direct observation or measurement of volunteer performance. Practical implications Voluntary service organizations need to focus on issues of intrinsic motivation and personal development for volunteers. Originality/value This study has originality in enhancing the understanding of mechanisms mediating the relationship between transformational leadership and volunteers' performance.

Talent management has been an ongoing focus in teaching and career development among lecturers in universities. However, this effective practice lies in the conduct of certain factors in an organisation. Some of the important factors that contribute to talent management of an organisation are; the ability of lecturers to perform, organizational culture and retention practice of an organisation. Hence, this paper took a milestone in explaining the relationship among talent management and three antecedent factors; performance, organisational culture and retention. Importantly, the research focuses on academicians who are teaching Information Technology related subjects. The leading universities in Malaysia have a tendency to lose competent academicians thus creating a gap in the organisational outcome. Thus, respondents were sampled from Private Higher Learning Institutions in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. The data was collected from 133 respondents who have been teaching in IT related modules. Hypotheses were built based on the relationship between variables and analysed using Pearson Correlation in via the SPSS software.  The results showthat two hypotheses are not supported except for one of the hypothesis on retention has indicated a significant relationship with the talent management practice of the university.  Information Technology is a fast growing industry as lecturers in this field need to be constantly updated in their knowledge, skills and ability. This requires talent management. Academicians who are unable to do this with the support and motivation of an organisation may not be able to offer their services in the university. Consequently, this can lead to poor outcome on knowledge delivery to students or the turnover rate may be affected. Overall, this paper has called for good human resource practices for lecturers in the teaching profession.

This study examines the relationship between social stratification and self-esteem by focusing on aspects of stratification and self-esteem formation processes ignored in previous research. An analysis of theoretical developments and empirical research reveals that the exclusive focus on occupational status and self-esteem derived from interpersonal comparison processes ignores an entire dimension of the relationship between social stratification and self-esteem—that between social class (in the Marxian sense) and self-esteem derived from the experience of self-efficacy. We provide evidence here that supports a hypothesized relationship between social class and occupational conditions that constrain or enable the experience of self-efficacy and self-esteem. Our findings suggest that carefully distinguishing between class and status, and recognizing the multiple processes of self-esteem formation, can improve our explanation of variation in self-esteem with reference to social stratification.
