This article investigates the role of learning Jawi classical book as one of the important teaching and learning methods in Islamic sciences especially in the study of Islamic Jurisprudence in Malaysia. The method of using the classical Jawi texts has been in place in the Malay Archipelago since a long period of time. However, it is no longer becoming the primary teaching and learning methods nowadays. Thus, this study will look into the effects and significance of learning the classical Jawi texts in understanding the Islamic sciences, particularly the Islamic Jurisprudence. The analysis will also focus on the implementation of learning classical Jawi texts through the talaqqi (face to face) method in several academic faculties at the Universiti Sains Islam Malaysia. For this purpose, descriptive qualitative method is utilized as well as questionnaires and coupled with semi-structured interviews. The study concludes that the learning of classical Jawi texts through talaqqi method is extremely essential in Malaysia specifically to Shariah students. These texts are considered the main sources in the study of Islamic sciences in this region. The understanding of such primary sources in Islamic studies empowers students with well-grounded knowledge before they embark into the study of other modern discipline of knowledge. With such well-grounded knowledge students are able to withstand themselves from other influences which may affect their understanding of their religion. The tradition of studying of classical Jawi texts should be reintroduced to the Malay Muslim communities in Malaysia especially to the students at higher learning institutions in the country. Keywords: Islamic Turath; Islamic Education; Malay Civilizaton; Pondok System; Jawi Classical Book.

This research paper demonstrates untraditional learning and teaching method that is developed from combination of experimentation, usage of computer simulations and problem based learning. Taking all previously mentioned methods together there can be created very successful learning environment which provides students to master electromagnetism more effectively. Research focuses on proper use of data acquisition modules and computer simulations in PBL teaching method. Based on the results of the research experimental PBL in various cases provides better learning outcomes, but there are also a few occasions where the results aren’t so pleasing. Overall PBL provides results that are at least as promising as results of other teaching and learning methods. Therefore this method will be utilized in Liepaja University to teach physics, especially electromagnetism.

Physical interaction between humans has steadily decreased over the past year as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic. As a result, the adoption of e-conferencing has seen a huge increase in conducting business globally and technologically mediated interactions are now the order of the day—the new normal. The virtualization of meetings promotes collaboration among colleagues, target markets, associates, teachers, and students working towards the organization’s objectives. Using web conferencing in learning meets the primary goal of both educators and students. It facilitates the creation of the best learning environment for students and aids in the realization of a balance between life and teaching duties for educators. Through web conferencing, higher learning institutions have the ability to capitalize on the available technologies to expand access to instructors online while also creating new experiences in the teaching and learning environment. The elimination of the need to travel for students’ field trips has also been realized due to technological advances, and virtual tours have replaced these trips. A descriptive approach is adopted for the study, and it relies on information from peer-reviewed journals. Drawing from the literature review, the study first identifies web-conferencing in various facets of education. Secondly, it discusses web-conferencing adoption and its influence on teaching and learning. Third, a discussion on the importance and benefits as well as disadvantages of web-conferencing is outlined. Fourth, the study exemplifies two web-conferencing platforms: Zoom and Google Meet. The study further discusses the future of adopting web-conferencing in education.

This study sheds light on the importance of the exposure to entrepreneurial and non-entrepreneurial role models regarding the entrepreneurial intention of engineering students, as they are the potential founders of new knowledge intensive start-ups. With this purpose, a questionnaire surveying a sample of 851 engineering students from a technical university in Spain is developed. The results point out that parents who own a business foster entrepreneurial intention and related attitudes in their sons/daughters. To the contrary, civil servants are identified as a negative role model, hindering both attitudes and intentions towards entrepreneurship.

Purpose The aim of this paper is to explore how entrepreneurial skills (such as creativity, proactivity, and risk tolerance) and socio-cultural factors (such as role model and businessman image) affect secondary education students’ propensity towards entrepreneurial options in their future careers. Design/methodology/approach A sample of secondary education students in the Region of Murcia (Spain) has been used. Data were collected through questionnaires and analysed using logit estimation. Confirmatory Factorial Analysis (CFA) was used to validate the measures. Findings The results of this research study show that both the skills and socio-cultural factors positively affect entrepreneurial intention of secondary education students. Creativity, proactivity and risk taking promote entrepreneurial career. In addition, those students whose role model is an entrepreneur and have a better understanding of him or her, show a greater propensity towards entrepreneurial career. Originality/value The contribution to the literature on entrepreneurship is twofold. Firstly, although there are studies focused on identifying the entrepreneurial profile of university students, there is a paucity of empirical evidence relating to entrepreneurial skills at earlier stages of learning. This paper sets out to bridge this research gap. Secondly, evidence of the importance of socio-cultural factors, role models and entrepreneurial image upon the career orientation of secondary education students is identified and empirically verified. These findings involve are useful in practice, in aiding the design of better and more relevant education programs at early learning stages.

AbstractHow the exposure to role models and entrepreneurship education shape perceptions and attitudes toward entrepreneurship differently in men and women is analyzed in the context of Ajzen’s theory of planned behavior. To this end, structural equation modeling is applied to data from a sample of 338 final-year undergraduates. The results show that external factors seem to be more critical in the case of women to generate entrepreneurial behavior. In particular, exposure to parental role models has a significantly more favorable influence on attitude toward entrepreneurship in women than men, and exposure to entrepreneurship education has a greater effect over their perceived entrepreneurial behavior control in women than in men.
