The research tries to identify causes of liquidity risk for the system of Vietnamese commercial banks. Data for the research are collected from annual reports in the years 2002-2011 by 27 Vietnamese commercial banks. The liquidity risk examined in the research is financing gap; and independent variables, or factors affecting the liquidity risk, are divided into two groups: internal and external ones. The estimated results of the models show that the liquidity risk among banks depends not only on internal factors, such as total asset size, liquidity reserve, inter-bank loan, and ratio of equity to capital, but also on external ones, or macroeconomic factors, such as growth rate, inflation, and especially effects of policy lags.

The study examines the bank-specific and external factors that affect the liquidity risk in commercial banks in Bangladesh. The study has been conducted using 23 banks data from 2005-2018, and panel data is used to conduct the regression analysis. Among the bank-specific factors, asset size has a negative relationship with liquidity risk. The larger the bank size, the better the liquidity position and the lower the liquidity risk. Return on equity and capital adequacy ratio has a positive but insignificant relationship with the liquidity risks. In the case of macroeconomic factors, inflation negatively affects the liquidity risks, whereas GDP and domestic credit positively affect. Private and public sector credits increase the investments, which in turn fuel GDP growth. Growth in domestic credit reduces liquidity and may create insolvency. The loan outstanding to asset ratio is positively related to the liquidity risk of the banks. Banks usually increase the loan/advance disbursement to increase profitability, which dries out liquidity and enhances liquidity risk. The study concludes that although several factors are found insignificant yet have positive/negative relation, the banks must carefully evaluate the factors to avoid a future liquidity crisis.

Dependent variable is indicators of profitability (ROE, ROA) and bank deposits, bank size, bank capital, focus on liquidity and banking requirements are independent variables. Correlation analysis and OLS regression are used and the research period is 1381 to 1390 that the country's territory where bank branches. Our results indicate that the effect of bank size on profitability is positive and the increase in bank size on profitability is increased. Impact on the profitability of bank deposits is positive, ie increasing the profitability of bank deposits increased. Finally, the impact of bank concentration on profitability is positive. Due to significant contribution of commercial banks in the economic progress of Pakistan, this research has been carried out to analyse the possible effect of different relevant factors on the profitability of commercial banks in the country. Profitability is measured by return on assets (ROA). Using pooled regression analysis on yearly data collected from the annual reports for a panel of 14 commercial banks for eight years from 2007 to 2014, it was found that equity to assets, debts to assets, deposits to assets, bank size and assets management have a significant influence on the commercial banks profitability in Pakistan.

This research mainly focuses on analysing the factors affecting customer satisfaction in retail banking in Nepal. The study adopts descriptive and explorative research design to deal with the fundamental issues associated with various factors of customers’ satisfaction and retail banking. The study is based on questionnaire survey of 200 customers of 10 different “A” class financial institutions, i.e. commercial banks. Descriptive statistics, correlation coefficient and regression analysis have been applied to estimate the relationship between customer satisfaction as dependent variable and service quality variables as independent variables. The empirical evidences indicate that reliability, responsiveness, assurance and tangibles factors have positive and significant impact on customer satisfaction. It reveals that higher the level of responsiveness, reliability, assurance and tangibility higher would be the customer satisfaction.

The study examined the determinants of capital adequacy among selected commercial banks in Ghana. Eight banks were sampled for the periods 2009-2016, secondary data was gathered from the annual reports of selected banks as well as the Ghana Banking Survey authored by Price Waterhouse Coopers Ghana (PWC). A balanced panel approach was employed in investigating the determinants of capital adequacy among selected commercial banks in Ghana whilst comparing estimates of pooled OLS, random and fixed effects models and the generalized least square models to ascertain the robustness of the model. The finding suggests that all the independent variables statistically and significantly influence capital adequacy. While non-performing loans negatively relate to CAR, LFTD and ROA positively impact CAR or asset quality. It is recommended that the central bank and various banks operating in Ghana pay attention to strict compliance with the regulatory regimes to keep banks sound and fit to withstand distress and losses which may, in turn, affect the banking system and economy in entirety.

The purpose of this study is to determine the relationship between microeconomic factors with credit risk among selected commercial banks in Malaysia. For this purpose, a sample of seven out of 27 commercial banks in Malaysia was selected and the microeconomic factors affecting credit risk with six measurements of return on asset (ROA), bank size, leverage, the ratio of capital, interest income and return on equity (ROE) were examined by applying Panel Regression Fixed Effect (FE) Model for a period 20 years from 1998 to 2017. The scope of the study covers seven selected commercial banks in Malaysia namely: Affin Bank Berhad, Alliance Bank Malaysia Berhad, CIMB Bank Berhad, Hong Leong Bank Berhad, Malayan Banking Berhad, Public Bank Berhad and RHB Bank Berhad. This study is using credit risk proxy by non-performing loan for dependent variable while independent variables that have been selected were returned on asset (ROA), bank size, leverage, the ratio of capital, interest income and return on equity (ROE). The findings of the study managed to reject the null hypothesis for return on asset, bank size, leverage, interest income and return on equity which indicates the five microeconomic variables give a significant relationship with credit risk. There are positive relationships between leverage, interest income and return on equity with credit risk while return on asset, bank size and ratio of capital are negatively related to credit risk. However, the study fails to find any significant relationship between the ratio of capital and credit risk for commercial banks in Malaysia.

Abstract The risk from non-payment of loans is a challenge for all the banks. Payment of the loans is a crucial issue for efficient functioning of the banking system. Loaning is one of the main uncertainties in the banking business, for loan payment can be rarely guaranteed completely. Often, a question occurs: what are the factors that influence in failure of the return of bank loan? What are the politics that must be followed to stimulate the return of bank loans? Through this research we aim to highlight the reasons of debtors in failing of loan return by studying the link of macroeconomic factors with NPL (non-performing loans). This is a first research in Kosovo that analyses the link of the macroeconomic factors influence (GDP, interest norms, unemployment, inflation, maturity period and grace period) these referred in the research as “independent variables” in failure of bank loan return that in the study bellow are referred as “dependent variable NPL for the Kosovo bank sector. This study argues as what is needed for the Kosovo banking system and presents the ideas of sustainable development of banking system in correspondence with non-performing loans, acknowledgment of the factors that hinder the return of the bank loans and reorientation of the loaning politics.

Kunt and Detragiache (1999) said that the profitability of the banking system was a good indication in signaling financial crisis. Therefore, studying determinants of bank profitability is necessary for better understanding of the current condition of the banking sector, and then, for launching new policies. The research explored determinants of Vietnamese commercial banks’ profitability. Using Regression Analysis for Panel Data set of 13 Vietnamese commercial banks over the period from 2006 to 2015, the study found that foreign ownership, cost to income and the level of credit risk, negatively influenced on the profitability of Vietnamese banks, whereas state ownership, size of assets, and macroeconomic factors (GDP and inflation) did not indicated statistically significant relations to the profitability and the relationships between capital structure, liquidity risk and the profitability were mixed.
