Abstract The study aimed at the analysis of prevalence frequency and localisation of tumours in domestic animals. The research material comprised 4,212 tumours developed in dogs, cats, horses, and exotic animals, isolated during surgery, autopsy or biopsy, performed for the purpose of histopathological diagnosis. The most numerous group involved canine tumours, including 3,585 cases (85.1%), followed by tumours in cats (532 cases, 12.6%), ferrets (34 cases, 0.81%), rats (19 cases, 0.45%), horses (15 cases, 0.36%), and rabbits (14 cases, 0.33%). A significant increase in incidence of tumours was noted, as compared to studies performed in the same region of Poland in 1957-1995 and 2000-2004 or in 2005-2008. This was particularly evident in exotic animals, in which 80 cases (1.9%) were detected in 2009-2011 but only 20 cases (1.2%) in 2005-2008. The most frequent localisation of neoplasia involved the skin, subcutaneous tissue, and mammary gland.

The aim of the study was to analyze the frequency and location of tumors in domestic as well as exotic animals in Lower Silesia. The research material consisted of 4174 cases of malignancies from dogs, cats, horses and exotic animals taken at the time of surgery or biopsy sections. The largest group consisted of tumors of dogs – 3519 cases (84.31%), followed by cat – 498 cases (11.93%), ferrets – 27 cases (0.65%), rats – 24 cases (0.57%), horses – 12 cases (0.28%), rabbits – 21 cases (0.5%), guinea pigs, 21 (0.5%). The average annual number of tests performed (2087 cases per year) may suggest an increased awareness of the need for veterinarians’ testing for histopathology, whose purpose is to determine the prognosis of their patients, as well as the further proceedings. Tumors were divided into 6 histological types. The largest group were malignant epithelial and mesenchymal. It can be concluded that in domestic animals cancer most often occurs in carnivores, 60% of the cases considered as malignant tumors, and 40% benign (dogs), and correspondingly in cats (76% and 24%) equally in both sexes in dogs and 20% prevalence of disease in male cats. In contrast, among the 146 reported cases referred to by us as exotic, cancer accounted for 59.6% and 40.4% benign.

Abstract Samples of tumours collected during necropsies or received from veterinary clinics, as well as biopsies were analysed. The analysis revealed 2259 tumours, including 1814 (80.30%) cases from dogs, followed by 295 (13.06%) cases from cats, 79 (3.50%) cases from horses, and 71 (3.14%) cases from exotic animals. Skin and subcutaneous tissue (45% of dogs and 48% of cats), and mammary gland (23% of dogs and 29% of cats) were the most common location of tumours. Malignant forms prevailed in dogs (59%), cats (66%), and horses (89%). The analysis revealed interesting facts concerning the middle age of dogs and cats with tumours present with a peak in nine-year-old dogs and 10-12-year-old cats.

Mammary gland neoplasms in cats are at the top of the list of the most common nosological diseases among domestic animals; more than half of the tumors appear as malignant. Veterinary practitioners have many questions about the prevalence of breast tumors in cats, depending on age, breed and seasons of the year. The article presents the results of diseases prevalence of benign and malignant breast tumors in cats kept in the conditions of Bishkek. The characteristic of macroscopic and microscopic studies of benign and malignant breast tumors in cats at different periods of life and depending on the breed is also described. Studies were conducted in the period from March 2018 to March 2019. Morphological methods were used in the study of breast tumors. As a result of our research, we established the morphological forms of benign and malignant breast tumors in cats. Among benign neoplastic breast diseases in cats, breast lipoma was observed. Also among the malignant tumors of the breast met highly differentiated, moderately differentiated and poorly differentiated breast adenocarcinomas malnutrition and necrosis as well as the rare phylloid (leaf-shaped) fibroadenoma of the mammary gland which makes up only 0.3-0.5 % of all breast tumors.

Tutela. Constituições Federais. Brasil.  AbstractThe objective of this brief retrospective introjective review of constitutional norms is to discuss the protection of domestic animals. This reflexive synthesis about the protection of the Brazilian domestic animal in the constitutional scope presents itself as to the way of approaching the subject, as qualitative, in what refers to the research modality as basic, from the point of view of its objectives, as descriptive, with respect to the procedures technicians, qualifies as documentary and bibliographical. It is concluded that the delineations, the limits, as well as the advances in the conquest of the animal guardianship and consequently of the domestic animal demonstrate how much the recognition of such question is socially constructed. In addition, the expansion, solidification and continuous development of human life and society necessarily imply the preservation and expansion of access to a fundamental right nominally recognized by the Federal Constitution of 1988 as a right to an environmentally balanced environment in which the animal, domesticated, wild and exotic animals. Keywords: Domestic Animals. AbstractWe present the first case of dirofilariasis in a dog from Białowieża village located in the primeval European forest—Białowieża Primeval Forest (NE Poland). Molecular analysis of adult nematode specimens isolated from subcutaneous tissue confirmed the infection with Dirofilaria repens. An adult male dog has not travelled out of the Białowieża village for at least five years; therefore, we assume this is the autochthonous case of the disease. We discuss possible inter- and intra-species transmission routes of dirofilariasis on this territory, which is inhabited by diverse community of wild carnivores, domestic animals, and humans. We also discuss the likely sources of the disease in this, highly biodiverse unique European forest complex. We underline the lack of attention to this problem and its importance for veterinary, wildlife, and human health safety.

Chromoblastomycosis (CBM) is a chronic fungal infection that affects skin and subcutaneous tissue, and little is known about the immunological aspects of such lesions. We have previously described the high expression of IL-17 in this group. Understanding the innate immune response of patients with CBM would improve the knowledge of its immunopathogenesis and contribute to the most appropriate therapies. Nineteen biopsies of verrucous form were obtained from patients with clinical and histopathological diagnosis of CBM, without treatment. This was done with a double immunostaining with conventional immunohistochemistry and immunofluorescence technique as well as confocal microscopy to detect Langerin and IL-17 expression. All of the specimens that were analyzed showed expression of Langerin in the epidermis - the same as the control group. However, only the CBM group presented cells expressing CD207 in the dermis. Interestingly, the coexpression of IL-17 and Langerin was visualized along the epidermis and dermis in 100% of the lesion group. We demonstrated for the first time in situ coexpression of IL-17 and Langerin (CD207) in epidermal cells of patients with CBM and speculated on their role as IL-17-producing cells or whether they could be a new subpopulation of dendritic cells distinct from Langerhans cells.

Only five cases of recurrence of malignant mixed Mullerian tumor (carcinosarcoma) from the ovarian carcinoma have been published in the literature to our knowledge. A 64-year-old woman first underwent a total abdominal hysterectomy and bilateral salpingo-oophorectomy because of pelvic mass. Histological diagnosis was serous papillary carcinoma of the left ovary. After six courses of chemotherapy, CA125 level returned to normal range. However, she had persistent multiple mediastinal and para-aortic lymphadenopathies in spite of additional six courses of chemotherapy. Then she underwent the second operation about 2 years after primary surgery. Multiple excisional biopsies were taken from subcutaneous tissue, over the bowels and the left external iliac artery. The histopathological diagnosis which was confirmed by immunohistochemical study was malignant mixed Mullerian tumor for all metastatic foci. A rare case of ovarian serous papillary carcinoma recurring as malignant mixed Mullerian tumor is reported.

Background and aim: Mental visualisation training makes use of human imagination in such a way as to program a person’s mind to perform a movement task in the best possible manner. The aim of this article is to evaluate the effects of mental visualisation training in sport with regard to karate shotokan fighters. Material and methods: 20 karate shotokan fighters – members of the Lower Silesia team competing in kata events – were purposefully selected for the study. The age of those studied ranged between 18 and 39 years. They had training experience of 5 to 20 years and were ranked from the 1st to the 5th dan. The fighters performed an exercise consisting in visualising their participation in a kata event. The empirical research was performed using the diagnostic survey method and the research material was collected by means of a specially prepared survey questionnaire. Results: Before commencing mental visualisation training the study participants evaluated all the areas of their mental preparation at a medium level (3). After one month one area received a very high score, four of them – high scores and two of them – medium scores. After two months one area received a very high score and the remaining ones – high scores. After three months six areas received very high scores and one area – a high score, but only marginally short of a very high score. Conclusions: Over a period of two months a trend tow rds positive effects of mental visualisation training was noted. The full effects were achieved after three months of practice.

The author reviews granulomas caused by chemical agents. Since there is insufficient knowledge with which to classify them fundamentally, they are classified practically as inflammation caused by endogenous and exogenous chemicals. Deposits of urate crystals, cutaneous calcinosis and cholesterin granulomas are endogenous. Exogenous inflammations in human medicine are the occupational diseases of the skin and lungs; however, these are of little significance in domestic animals. Pneumoconioses in animals are rare because of their reduced opportunity for exposure, more efficient nasal filtering system, and increased pulmonary reactivity; the latter is more likely to lead to acute pneumonia than to chronic granulomatous response. Granulomas caused by pharmaceutical agents are of importance in animals, e.g. the cutaneous granuloma caused by aluminum hydroxide in the adjuvant of foot and mouth disease vaccine. Drugs suspended in oil, turpentine, and paraffin have also produced granulomas in the subcutaneous tissue and muscles. Peritoneal inflammation occurs as a reaction to talcum or antibiotic powder following surgery and is of importance in human medicine; cases have also been reported in domestic animals, but much more rarely. Granulomas were experimentally produced with talcum powder in a number of laboratory and domestic animals, reptiles and amphibia. Such experiments provide an approach to the study of the comparative pathology of inflammation. The differences in the reactions of nine species of animals with experimental talcum granulomas are tabulated.
