AbstractThe reaction of R3M (M=Ga, In) with HESiR′3 (E=O, S; R′3=Ph3, iPr3, Et3, tBuMe2) leads to the formation of (Me2GaOSiPh3)2(1); (Me2GaOSitBuMe2)2(2); (Me2GaOSiEt3)2(3); (Me2InOSiPh3)2(4); (Me2InOSitBuMe2)2(5); (Me2InOSiEt3)2(6); (Me2GaSSiPh3)2(7); (Et2GaSSiPh3)2(8); (Me2GaSSiiPr3)2(9); (Et2GaSSiiPr3)2(10); (Me2InSSiPh3)3(11); (Me2InSSiiPr3)n(12), in high yields at room temperature. The compounds have been characterized by multinuclear NMR and in most cases by X-ray crystallography. The molecular structures of (1), (4), (7) and (8) have been determined. Compounds (3), (6) and (10) are liquids at room temperature. In the solid state, (1), (4), (7) and (9) are dimers with central core of the dimer being composed of a M2E2 four-membered ring. VT-NMR studies of (7) show facile redistribution between four- and six-membered rings in solution. The thermal decomposition of (1)–(12) was examined by TGA and range from 200 to 350°C. Bulk pyrolysis of (1) and (2) led to the formation of Ga2O3; (4) and (5) In metal; (7)–(10) GaS and (11)–(12) InS powders, respectively.

AbstractTreatment of [(η6-p-cymene)RuCl2]2 with one equivalent of chlorodiphenylphosphine in tetrahydrofuran at reflux afforded a neutral complex [(η6-p-cymene)RuCl2(κ1-P-PPh2OH)] (1). Similarly, the reaction of [Ru(bpy)2Cl2·2H2O] (bpy = 2,2′-bipyridine) and chlorodiphenylphosphine in methanol gave a cationic complex [Ru(bpy)2Cl(κ1-P-PPh2OCH3)](PF6) (2), while treatment of [RuCl2(PPh3)3] with [2-(C5H4N)CH=N(CH2)2N(CH3)2] (L1) in tetrahydrofuran at room temperature afforded a ruthenium(II) complex [Ru(PPh3)Cl2(κ3-N,N,N-L1)] (3). Interaction of the chloro-bridged complex [Ru(CO)2Cl2]n with one equivalent of [Ph2P(o-C6H4)CH=N(CH2)2N(CH3)2] (L2) led to the isolation of [Ru(CO)Cl2(κ3-P,N,N-L2)] (4). The molecular structures of the ruthenium(II) complexes 1–4 have been determined by single-crystal X-ray crystallography. The properties of the ruthenium(II) complex 4 as a hydrogenation catalyst for acetophenone were also tested.

A facile procedure is developed for the three-component Mannich reactions of several heterocyclic, homocyclic, and acyclic ketones by using catalytic quantities of nano ZrO2. As a result, the starting ketones undergo rapid reactions with a variety of aromatic aldehydes and aniline derivatives at room temperature to produce stereoselectively high yields of the corresponding anti β-amino ketones. Interestingly, the catalyst could be recycled for several runs in a row without significant loss of its activity. The structure of the products was assigned based on their spectroscopic data and the anti stereoselectivity was confirmed by X-ray crystallography.

Para-aminosubstituted nitrosoarenes react with Ru ( CO )( OEP ) or [ Co ( TPP )( THF )2] SbF 6 (OEP2- = 2,3,7,8,12,13,17,18-octaethylporphyrinato dianion, TPP2- = 5,10,15,20-tetraphenylporphyrinato dianion) to generate Ru ( OEP )( ONC 6 H 4 NMe 2)2 and [ Co ( TPP )( ONC 6 H 4 NR 2)2] SbF 6 ( R = Me , Et ), respectively, in fair to high yields. These N -bound nitrosoarene complexes have been characterized by spectroscopic methods. The complexes Ru ( OEP )( ONC 6 H 4 NMe 2)2 and [ Co ( TPP )( ONC 6 H 4 NMe 2)2] ClO 4 have also been characterized by single-crystal X-ray crystallography. Their structures represent the first reported solid-state structures of Ru and Co porphyrins containing C-nitroso ligands.

The first general procedure is described for the synthesis of novel bisarylmethylidenes of 2-methoxy-2-methyl-1,3-dioxan-5-one 1. Thus, several derivatives of 3 are obtained rapidly in high yields by reacting 1 with different aldehydes in the presence of catalytic quantities of pyrrolidine in EtOH at room temperature. Upon completion of the reactions, products are obtained directly by spontaneous precipitation avoiding time consuming and expensive chromatographic separations. All products were characterized by proton and carbon NMR spectroscopy methods, and in one case, the proposed structure was elucidated by X-ray crystallography, confirming the Z stereochemistry for the olefinic C=C bonds. Due to showing different colours in solid and solution states, products were studied for their photophysical properties as well.

We report in this study the synthesis, crystal culture, and single-crystal X-ray crystallography of two new kinds of double stilbene, which were readily prepared from trinitro-p-xylene and p-tolualdehyde in the presence of piperidine. We found that these triclinic crystals belong to the space group P-1. These compounds were also investigated using FT-IR, 1H NMR, 13C NMR, and MS spectroscopy techniques. The thermal decomposition processes of the compounds were tested by DSC and TG-DTG at a heating rate of 10  C/min. These results indicate that the compounds have high heat-resistant stability.Key words: polynitrostilbene, molecular structure, thermal decomposition.

The complex salts CdL4(O3SCF3)2 (L = 2(1H)-pyridinethione (Py2SH), 4(1H)-pyridinethione (Py4SH), or 2(1H)-quinolinethione (Q2SH)) have been synthesized by the stoichiometric reaction of Cd(O3SCF3)2 and the appropriate thione. Both ambient-temperature 13C and reduced-temperature 111Cd NMR of CdL4(O3SCF3)2 in solution are consistent with L being bound through sulfur. Reduced-temperature NMR (31P, 77Se, 111Cd, as appropriate) of mixtures of CdL4(O3SCF3)2 and Cd(EPCy3)4(O3SCF3)2 (E = Se, Cy = c-C6H11) and of Cd(EPCy3)4(O3SCF3)2 (E = S, Se) and L in solution provides evidence for various [CdLn(EPCy3)4-n]2+. Similarly, reduced-temperature metal NMR of [CdL4]2+ and [CdL'4]2+ (L, L' = Py2SH, Py4SH, Q2SH; L not equal L') in solution shows the formation of [CdLnL'4-n]2+. Thus it has been demonstrated that at reduced temperature [CdL4]2+ is intact in solution and exchange of L is slow on the timescale of the metal chemical shift differences. From the NMR studies of Cd(EPCy3)4(O3SCF3)2 (E = S, Se):L mixtures, the binding preferences are found to be L > EPCy3 in solution. Similarly, from the reduced temperature metal NMR spectra of mixtures where L and L' compete for Cd(II) in solution, the binding preferences are Py4SH > Py2SH > Q2SH. The structure of Cd(Py2SH)4(NO3)2 (4) has been determined by single crystal X-ray analysis. Colorless crystals of 4 are tetragonal, I4(1)/acd with 8 molecules per unit cell of dimensions a = 18.660(3), c = 15.215(3) Å. The structure is comprised of recognizable NO3- anions and [Cd(Py2SH)4]2+ cations. In the cations, which have S4 symmetry, the ligands are S-bound. A network of NH···O hydrogen bonds links the cations and anions.Key words: aromatic heterocyclic thiones, cadmium complexes, phosphine chalcogenides, 111Cd, 31P, 77Se NMR, X-ray crystallography.

The hydrothermal synthesis and both the chemical and structural characterization of a diamin iron phosphate are reported. A new synthetic route, by using n-butylammonium dihydrogen phosphate as a precursor, leads to the largest crystals described thus far for this compound. Its crystal structure is determined from single-crystal X-ray diffraction data. It crystallizes in the orthorhombic system (Pnma space group, a = 10.1116(2) Å, b = 6.3652(1) Å, c = 7.5691(1) Å, Z = 4) at room temperature and, below 220 K, changes towards the monoclinic system P21/n, space group. The in situ powder X-ray thermo-diffraction monitoring for the compound, between room temperature and 1100 K, is also included. Thermal analysis shows that the solid is stable up to ca. 440 K. The kinetic analysis of thermal decomposition (hydrogenated and deuterated forms) is performed by using the isoconversional methods of Vyazovkin and a modified version of Friedman. Similar values for the kinetic parameters are achieved by both methods and they are checked by comparing experimental and calculated conversion curves.

Dicobalt complexes of 3-vinylpropargylic alcohol derivatives react with biscyclooctenetricarbonyliron to give new chelate complexes of the iron tricarbonyl fragment with the olefinic double bond and the alcohol oxygen atom bound to the iron fragment. These compounds react upon heating in an inert solvent to give FeCo-alkynyl cluster complexes in high yields. One of these compounds has been structurally characterized by X-ray crystallography.
